September fledgling roll call: Ready, Set, FLY....

HillsBesideTheSea · 01/09/2018 08:25

Yes this is the bonkers back to school thread. We welcome you to jump aboard for the ride. We are following the Fly lady system for taming the chaos (can't have anyone over syndrome). We are at various levels and there is NO obligation to follow it to the letter (we've installed a bar in the naughty corner for hanging out and relaxing when needed)

4 levels for flying:
Baby steps - good for finding a routine in the tasks and getting over the perfection crippling effect
Baby steps and missions - yep basic routine and more in depth tasks
Baby steps, missions, and deep cleaning - can't clean clutter so don't consider this one if you need the next level
Flying combined with a decluttering system (kondo/unfuck etc etc) lets be honest fly lady is good for routine but not so quick with the decluttering results sometimes.

So ground rules, yes ground rules it is September:

  1. Newbies - we are a long running but friendly bunch. We try not to seem clicky but it doesn't always come across as some of us have known each other on here for a long time, just join the chatter and you'll soon be a fledgling
  2. There is NO wrong or right way of doing this, it is about adapting the system to suit your life circumstances, which will be different from someone else's.

Linkies will be posted daily and will appear shortly. Until then, jump on board, enjoy the ride and there are still hammocks, sand, comfy seats, cushions, blankies and a full English on the naughty corner bar it is a Saturday morning, breakfast is earnt

Yes hope ive ok

I don't feel too emotional today I think because I'm staying with her at this session so doesn't feel officially like her first day. Next week may well be another story!!

Cagliostro · 07/09/2018 08:29

Must be busy at new job

“Not back to school” picnic today but want to try and get some stuff done before we go. Ache like hell this morning though. And it’s quite a journey to said picnic. Why do I agree to these things?!

At least DH is off for 9 days now. He’s got a couple of events and we are away Monday to Wednesday but other than that hope to get some house stuff done. Famous last words.

MsForestier · 07/09/2018 10:38

Can't seem to get motivated. Nearly done kitchen that is it today.

foxessocks · 07/09/2018 15:32

bower I'm feeling pretty unmotivated today too.

Ta da
Washing hung up
More washing on

That's it ...struggling to move off the sofa. We've got guests tomorrow as well for ds birthday party so some cleaning is going to need to happen soon. And we need to go and get all the food for the party Confused does anyone know if Aldi sell birthday cakes?!

Bowerbird5 · 07/09/2018 16:03

Not sure. Sainsburys usually have nice ones.

Hills. No I should have gone on Wednesday but was so tired, then DH phoned and I was meeting friend at 12.30 to go shopping(retail therapy) so didn't. Been onto Union today. They have had quite a few calls about our placeGrin so weren't surprised to get another. They have sent me stuff about redundences via email. I will arrange a meeting \ look around for next week.I had too much vino last night so wouldn't drive. surprisingly I don't have a hang over just laziiistis.

TooStressyForMyOwnGood · 07/09/2018 17:02

foxes, they sell cakes that would be ok for a birthday round here although not ‘character’ ones iyswim. The stores seem to vary dependent on location though! It’s probably worth a look.

HillsBesideTheSea · 07/09/2018 17:21

Hard day at work.
Need to persaude ds to get dressed (he is in pjs already), packed and in the car. We need to leave 10 mins ago so I expect my temper is about to be fried. Hmm

I think i am going to make a coffee and pop around the corner for ice cream to give him 5 mins before I start. Tbh I am with the kid, I am tired and just want to go to bed.

foxessocks · 07/09/2018 17:56

Shopping was awful. Angry I feel stressed. Have come upstairs to be on my own while dh does something on toast for the dc dinners. We have done basically no planning for ds party tomorrow, it's only family and close friends but basically went shopping with no idea what to serve guests! And me and dh had totally different ideas resulting in chaos and arguments. And we've come back with really random stuff and have forgotten a few things. Humph.

Thanks for the info re Aldi cakes, we got a party cake for £3.99 - pretty good! He has already had his proper cake on the actual day so just wanted one for tomorrow.

I need Wine but can't drink any of it as need to save it for the party!

foxessocks · 07/09/2018 17:57

hills you sound how I feel!

Stilllivinginazoo · 07/09/2018 19:17
foxessocks · 07/09/2018 19:52

zoo it may well come to that!! Already spent too much money on food and drink for the weekend though

I'm so tired again. I don't know what my hormones are doing at the moment but I'm thoroughly sick of it.

We haven't eaten dinner yet I am so hungry. Just put it in the oven. I've eaten a tiny bowl of porridge and a toasted cheese sandwich and nothing else all day.

Stilllivinginazoo · 07/09/2018 21:08

Drunk the bloody wine foxes you sound in need of it!!

I opted for pasta with cheese, half tray roasted veggies and then mop up juices with 3slices bread greedy pig i know
Seriously full but was necessary I was ravenous!I had a salmon and tomato wrap and crisps with banana and mini battenburg at lunch(no breakfast and 7 mile hike)banana and 3hobnobs post school run and 4 celebrations...I got start eat at regular jntervals!!

So I collected zoolets
Made (and ate) dinner
Rowed dd2 about how unsuitable sons of anarchy is for her,and spin off Mayans MC.argued about phone use.argued about state her side bedroom😟

Lil zoo was be lippy.only D's was cuddly and "kind to mumsy"- his words

I miss little ones that didn't argue black was white or ignore me and who wanted cuddles and we're loving.my baby girls have been replaced spikey, argumentative rebels that look at me with utter disdain

Cagliostro · 07/09/2018 21:14

ta da
✅errrr got to picnic and back. Lots of walking. And talking. Survived. Tired.

DH’s ta da on the other hand...
✅put up loo roll holder (I kinda want it the other way round but it can wait till we repaint 😂)
✅towel wash and dry
✅put all our and baby’s clothes away
✅put up coat racks x2 in long cupboard
✅got a haircut
✅removed useless shelves from long cupboard (they were in a really awkward place)
✅ditched one of said shelves, and put the other one up in the hallway. This is a temporary measure as it’s not a very nice shelf, but it is perfect for now to hold the router, which has to go at that socket rather than the living room (according to BT dude). So perfect and frugal and actually does look decent so will do just fine until we redecorate.

I think I’ll keep him.

Cineraria · 07/09/2018 22:53

Thanks to those who agreed it's ok to do a doodle poll. I'll add that to my to do listand do a nice email beforehand.

Foxes you'd best test each of the bottles you bought. It would be awful if you served any of your guests something that wasn't good. Belated happy birthday wishes to little fox.

I didn't do much today. Just morning routine and helping DS2 to make some packet mix cakes that don't taste all that nice but are safe for everyone here to eat and then trying to hide their taste under a mountain chocolate icing! DM visited with her dog and the boys were so excited to see them both that they were exhausting although in a really nice way, so I just sat down after she went and I'm not really sure what I did until DS1 woke up. I don't mind though. I've been getting plenty done for over a month so I can manage one lazy day.

Everyone else seems very productive today.

HillsBesideTheSea · 08/09/2018 00:11

OK folks we made it through the first week of September give yourselves a gold star.

Tomo is saturday which means no missions, also it is family fun day - yep do something fun with the kids...

babystep is to set up your control journal - nope not compulsory, but some find useful. Some prefer some new fangled app type thingy... feel free to ask about it. Other people than me know things about technology things, it is just better that way.

launch pad

That's all folks. hope you manage to have lie ins, and survive the day without too much stress and bleurgh.
