September fledgling roll call: Ready, Set, FLY....

Yes this is the bonkers back to school thread. We welcome you to jump aboard for the ride. We are following the Fly lady system for taming the chaos (can't have anyone over syndrome). We are at various levels and there is NO obligation to follow it to the letter (we've installed a bar in the naughty corner for hanging out and relaxing when needed)

4 levels for flying:
Baby steps - good for finding a routine in the tasks and getting over the perfection crippling effect
Baby steps and missions - yep basic routine and more in depth tasks
Baby steps, missions, and deep cleaning - can't clean clutter so don't consider this one if you need the next level
Flying combined with a decluttering system (kondo/unfuck etc etc) lets be honest fly lady is good for routine but not so quick with the decluttering results sometimes.

So ground rules, yes ground rules it is September:

  1. Newbies - we are a long running but friendly bunch. We try not to seem clicky but it doesn't always come across as some of us have known each other on here for a long time, just join the chatter and you'll soon be a fledgling
  2. There is NO wrong or right way of doing this, it is about adapting the system to suit your life circumstances, which will be different from someone else's.

Linkies will be posted daily and will appear shortly. Until then, jump on board, enjoy the ride and there are still hammocks, sand, comfy seats, cushions, blankies and a full English on the naughty corner bar it is a Saturday morning, breakfast is earnt

I moved friend to after 2pm rather than after 1pm but no idea of actual time, I am too tired to make the house any less crap anyway, just ugh.

Have told DH I may stay home with baby tonight instead of going to the fundraiser

Spreadingcudweed · 22/09/2018 14:06

Cag you are not a crappy human - you are spinning so many plates at same time - and anyway I regularly feel that way! I get stressed by the most ridiculous things nowadays and make heavy weather of stuff everyone else seems to breeze through!

Wishing fortitude to everyone struggling today. Flowers

Hate to say it, but just throwing this in to the mix ...to everyone who has smalls currently ...try and fortify yourself mentally because teens have a habit of picking apart, criticising and challenging everything about who you are as a person, what you do, and what you stand for. That is what I am facing today and although it's a natural process and normal and part of working out how they fit in the world, it can really wear you down because of course, as a mother, you are always wrong!

Everything was quite chipper yesterday and we all went out for dinner and celebrated last night as dh has had had a big success at work (something he had been working on for two years) but back to reality today. DH too worn out to want to engage in doing anything much today (unfair of me to say it because he is always very engaged indeed when he has the energy!) but tbh he is worn out most of the time he is at home because he works so hard and he needs (and bloody well deserves) a good rest. But DD I think reacts to that when it's just boring me and her thrown together again for the umpteenth time. Considering taking her out but tbh she was so rude earlier I don't want to reward that (sigh) and thus the negative cycle continues... .

Sorry for yet another Eeyore post Grin

As for Flying ....CBA!!

Thanks Zoo it's really quite hard isn't it?! [Hands over slices of courgette cake.] I know you are right - DH says I need to not take it personally and disengage too - I never drink during the day but could really murder a Wine right now. Perhaps alcohol is the answer Grin?

Btw, did you bake the squash muffins in the end? If so, how did they turn out?

Stilllivinginazoo · 22/09/2018 15:03

Still on my to doBlush
It's hard not to take it personally when we eat sleep and breathe their lives until they decide we are embarrassing/imposing/annoying yadder yadder yadder

Spreadingcudweed · 22/09/2018 15:14

Absolutely! Whatever we do; it never seems enough somehow. At the same time, I know she is going through a bad time with hormones ATM though.

I didn't get my muffins done either! Will report back once I recover my enthusiasm to do something constructive may be some time.

Stilllivinginazoo · 22/09/2018 15:21

Ditto SCGrin

Cagliostro · 22/09/2018 15:23

Doh well friend can’t come and pick up the stuff after all as her eldest is ill. Ah well it forced me to tidy a bit more so no harm done!

I’m dreading the teen years TBH DD is moody enough already

HillsBesideTheSea · 22/09/2018 15:48

Another one with a disgruntled teen. I dared to serve the same dish up 3 days in a row Shock Well it wouldn't have been 3 days in a row if he had eaten his normal portion size but apparently I am meant to mind read!
fucking internet might go off later so we can get his room done and then go back on again so we can both sulk in peace and quiet

Stilllivinginazoo · 22/09/2018 16:06

To try and find my patience or to make hole big enough for shallow grave SC

Spreadingcudweed · 22/09/2018 16:12

Well we could compromise by burying iPhones, iPads, laptops and any random cables and chargers left all over the place! That would be a start! Although I'm sounding a bit too Hon. Kirsty Allsop now ... Confused

HillsBesideTheSea · 22/09/2018 16:20

Throw in a couple of swear words SC should sort that right out!

Just seen your post I've so sorry that is shocking Sad
With four kids in the house? Angry I'd be replacing the duvet with a nice warm delivery of horse manure. In fact give me a week and it can be arranged... .

Spreadingcudweed · 22/09/2018 23:10

Btw Zoo I made the muffins; don't know why but they taste of soap (yurgh).

Stilllivinginazoo · 22/09/2018 23:27

Too much bicarb/baking powder SC?

Cagliostro · 22/09/2018 23:29
