September fledgling roll call: Ready, Set, FLY....

HillsBesideTheSea · 01/09/2018 08:25

Yes this is the bonkers back to school thread. We welcome you to jump aboard for the ride. We are following the Fly lady system for taming the chaos (can't have anyone over syndrome). We are at various levels and there is NO obligation to follow it to the letter (we've installed a bar in the naughty corner for hanging out and relaxing when needed)

4 levels for flying:
Baby steps - good for finding a routine in the tasks and getting over the perfection crippling effect
Baby steps and missions - yep basic routine and more in depth tasks
Baby steps, missions, and deep cleaning - can't clean clutter so don't consider this one if you need the next level
Flying combined with a decluttering system (kondo/unfuck etc etc) lets be honest fly lady is good for routine but not so quick with the decluttering results sometimes.

So ground rules, yes ground rules it is September:

  1. Newbies - we are a long running but friendly bunch. We try not to seem clicky but it doesn't always come across as some of us have known each other on here for a long time, just join the chatter and you'll soon be a fledgling
  2. There is NO wrong or right way of doing this, it is about adapting the system to suit your life circumstances, which will be different from someone else's.

Linkies will be posted daily and will appear shortly. Until then, jump on board, enjoy the ride and there are still hammocks, sand, comfy seats, cushions, blankies and a full English on the naughty corner bar it is a Saturday morning, breakfast is earnt

Glad it turned up Cag

Right, now I have digested my lunch and caught up with everyone, I need to close the screen - drag myself away from blood pressure-raising Brexit threads - and go and deliver something to dd's school Hmm. Then I need to do another drawer or two of art cupboard and cook, oh and walk furry! Sunshine has returned thankfully!

Have a great weekend everyone and thanks for links Hills!

foxessocks · 21/09/2018 13:28

water all okay now. Had a very stressful morning with a very grumpy toddler who is now asleep. I'm meant to be at a meeting but I'm not waking him up so tough!

Have done nothing at all flying wise as been out all morning.

Ta da
Picked up few things from shop - stuck to my list!

Nothing else. Going to drink my Brew and wait for ds to wake up as he's asleep in his car seat in the living room so don't want to disturb him, good excuse to do nothing!

Cagliostro · 21/09/2018 15:53

All a bit worn out here. But we have helped the Caglets apply for Blue Peter sports badges so that’s good. Even that sort of thing I find stressful TBH, finding files, getting printer out (at least we have one now though), helping them decide what to write etc, so it took over an hour! And we’ve got nothing else done.

Bowerbird5 · 21/09/2018 16:15

Oh that is funny SC cousin usually takes one back others sent on. Lovely fabric.
Yep Foxes🍪☕️

Yeah resting foot. DH snoring on other end of sofa. He fed chicken, watered tomatoes, took DD to dentist. That is it. No wonder this house looks like a shit heap. No one does anything while I am at work by the looks of things. Oh he did make me lunch. Tuna baked tattie. Our tatties which are lovely. No wonder he is tired out.🙊

Stilllivinginazoo · 21/09/2018 17:17

School were surprisingly helpful(given Nazis over uniform rules and other unimportant crap)

Asked him stay an hour today.he broke down and refuse.they didn't push it.tbh he wasn't prepared for that so wasn't really fair spring it on him so to speak

HillsBesideTheSea · 21/09/2018 17:40

Fingers crossed for ds Zoo
Glad the day has gone ok for you cag
SC glad that you are feeling a bit more in control of things
Bower pleased to hear you are resting. (GP right though TAs are on their feet a lot)
Foxes yay for water being ok

Glad I forgot my lovingly prepped lunch today. Roast veg and meat is a lovely no effort treat for tea. Ds is having leftover spag bol.
Still fighting back to school lurgy, super tired and got soaked at work a couple of times today (its a perk when the weather is nice, but having outside duties when it is not is a bit of a minus)

Currently tucked up in bed with tea and hot water bottle. I should finish yesterday's stuff off and do another round of batch cooking but I suspect that what I shall actually be doing is taking a nap. I have the tireds.

TooStressyForMyOwnGood · 22/09/2018 06:54

Morning all.

Glad you’ve managed some progress with your lists and the house SC and that the school and doctors have been helpful to your DS zoo. Oh no Bower, sorry to hear about your fall Flowers.

Thanks for links Hills. Hope you are managing to get a tiny bit of rest Steg.

Big wing flaps to everyone else.

I joined a gym yesterday! I do run every so often but haven’t been a gym member for a long, long time. Have an induction session next Tues so am expecting to struggle to walk for most of next week.

To do:-
Girls dancing lessons this morning
Morning routine
Attempt to put out all the hotspots
Deal with laundry which seems to be everywhere
Get present for someone this afternoon so will hopefully take one child with me and leave the other with DH but I suspect they will both want to come in which case I think I’ll see if he stays at home and makes tea while I take them both. It will have to be a bus trip.

IVEgotthePOWER · 22/09/2018 07:35

foxessocks · 22/09/2018 07:47

I've it is believe it or not a pretty normal car seat for a two year old so I understand your surprise!! I literally just lift it in with him in it, it's bloody heavy, I have had a lot of practice at this as both my dc always wake up the minute you unclip the seatbelt!

foxessocks · 22/09/2018 07:49

It's a Mothercare car seat that's all I know Grin

HillsBesideTheSea · 22/09/2018 07:52

IVEgotthePOWER · 22/09/2018 07:58

Wow i am impressed foxes i struggled to carry mine when they were still in a stage 0 car seat Grin

foxessocks · 22/09/2018 08:12

I've where there's a will there's a way! Grin

We were meant to be going out this morning on a little family trip but it is an outdoor event and it is raining really hard and not due to stop so we've decided not to bother. Quite looking forward to a day at home actually. We are out for a friend's birthday tonight. Which reminds me must wrap her 🎁

Cagliostro · 22/09/2018 08:18

Morning all sorry about lack of sleep etc. I woke up earlier than normal and really need to get on with tidying up, a friend is picking up some baby clothes later and I’m a bit embarrassed by the state of the place! It’s obviously still much better than the old house ever was but still lots of clutter around. Cagletini is sleeping on the bed, so I don’t want to leave her too long (although she can generally get herself off the bed safely now) but I also know if I try moving her back to her cot she will wake up anyway 🙄

Think I’ll start with a stash and dash type affair, which I have been planning for a while. The last few boxes are still in DD’s room, what I’d really like to do is get aaaaall clutter boxed up and in there, so we have a sort of blank slate in the living room particularly (top of kallaxes clear etc) and can really organise that 100% before finally unpacking the last stuff. That was my plan for DH’s week off but it went to shit when we got ill.

HillsBesideTheSea · 22/09/2018 09:21

ta da
feed fish
watch fish
look at kitchen and sigh
look at laundry mountain and sigh
look at lounge and sigh.
Print to do list so can tick off more easily - sigh at length of it
Check weather to see if possible to do garden stuff - potentially
Give up and run a hot epsom bath in the hope it will jump start me.

HillsBesideTheSea · 22/09/2018 09:21

Good luck with the stash and dash cag

OP posts:
Cagliostro · 22/09/2018 09:42

Filled a 48L box with random crap. Annoying as some of it I could have sorted beforehand but it wasn’t gonna happen. Piano and one windowsill looking much better.

Need to move some furniture round too as the Caglets wanted to rearrange it 🙄

And now just need to get myself and baby dressed as we have to leave for ballroom soon. No idea what we are doing for lunch and dinner either 🤔🤦‍♀️

Aaaargh can I just not adult today?

foxessocks · 22/09/2018 10:12

Ta da
Dishwasher emptied and reloaded
Quick general tidy
Folded and put away all the laundry
More washing on

Bowerbird5 · 22/09/2018 10:34

Morning

I've I sprained it and fractured wrist. Shoulder bruised. I don't really want to say how as a bit random and therefore outing. Basically went over on it.bloody aching this morning. I walked a little way on it yesterday obviously too much but at least I can put weight on it now.

Plan for today
Have shower and wash hair. Swish shower and basin. DH can clean toilet as I did it on Wednesday.
Have outing with DD to a village event. DH can drive me there.
Sort BRC if not too tired. Try to do two a day while off.
No wonder this house is messy. DH and DD did very little yesterday.

Bowerbird5 · 22/09/2018 10:35

With hills ...lol at house and sigh.😞

Stilllivinginazoo · 22/09/2018 11:20

I don't want to adult either

stegosauruslady · 22/09/2018 12:04

I'm with everyone on the not wanting to adult today. The DDs have friends over in an hour, so I'll be getting on with the usual boring round of jobs, interspersed with the occasional breaking up of squabbles.

I did sleep better last night though.

Cagliostro · 22/09/2018 13:28

Well we are still in town waiting for a bus as I am a crappy human and was too disorganised to get back sooner. Feel so stressed today. Do you ever get days where you think fuck this I can’t actually handle daily life like normal people?!
