September fledgling roll call: Ready, Set, FLY....

HillsBesideTheSea · 01/09/2018 08:25

Yes this is the bonkers back to school thread. We welcome you to jump aboard for the ride. We are following the Fly lady system for taming the chaos (can't have anyone over syndrome). We are at various levels and there is NO obligation to follow it to the letter (we've installed a bar in the naughty corner for hanging out and relaxing when needed)

4 levels for flying:
Baby steps - good for finding a routine in the tasks and getting over the perfection crippling effect
Baby steps and missions - yep basic routine and more in depth tasks
Baby steps, missions, and deep cleaning - can't clean clutter so don't consider this one if you need the next level
Flying combined with a decluttering system (kondo/unfuck etc etc) lets be honest fly lady is good for routine but not so quick with the decluttering results sometimes.

So ground rules, yes ground rules it is September:

  1. Newbies - we are a long running but friendly bunch. We try not to seem clicky but it doesn't always come across as some of us have known each other on here for a long time, just join the chatter and you'll soon be a fledgling
  2. There is NO wrong or right way of doing this, it is about adapting the system to suit your life circumstances, which will be different from someone else's.

Linkies will be posted daily and will appear shortly. Until then, jump on board, enjoy the ride and there are still hammocks, sand, comfy seats, cushions, blankies and a full English on the naughty corner bar it is a Saturday morning, breakfast is earnt

Cagliostro · 14/09/2018 19:29

It may be a virus zoo there is a lot around this time of year, new term germs etc.

I feel like utter shit and am trying to sleep on and off. Keep feeling really sick which I don’t cope well with. Might try a bath with a fuckton of Epsom salts as I ache so much.

Sports club seemed to go well though

Spreadingcudweed · 14/09/2018 19:40

Yeah DD has made it through second week but finished school today with sore throat, fatigue, headache , feeling hot, and various aches and pains in her right groin (she's eating happily though so hoping latter is glands and not appendicitis). She says half her class are unwell. I have headache and shivers. Really bummer as we have commitments tomorrow at wreck2.

[Large cushions, fluffy fleeces, hot toddies, hot honey drinks, cough sweets etc etc for all the poorly folk.]

Stilllivinginazoo · 14/09/2018 19:47

Thanks guys.i made mistake of asking Dr evil google.he says could be hormones(boys get hot flushes too apparently!!)his face keep flushing then the palpitations come...off his food but it's making him anxious, part his problems are difficulty explaining what's wrong(sore throats don't hurt, feel funny so hard getting full picture as he volunteers nothing you have to run thru giving options,we could be missing something that's vital to diagnosis but that's the way he's always been)

Survived til 4pm on sugar.ive got palpitations and feel crap now ((totally my own fault))

Dd2 gone theatre tonight with dp.id have lived to gone to see the play they're watching(read book and seen the film)but I can't manage unfamiliar social situations as only adult (accompanying dd2) and no-one else watch little ones.hope they have a lovely time tho.feels very odd i have control of the TV remote, esp in a Friday night.excitement of my rock n roll life!!

SassitudeandSparkle · 14/09/2018 21:42

I am feeding DD two vitamin tablets a day ATM, I feel she will certainly pick up something from school.

I am still feeling slightly below par, but an early night all round would be good I think. I am in charge of the bumper weekend breakfast so I hope I am feeling up to it myself tomorrow.

I may make a cup of tea and head to bed with my Kindle. I did do some ironing today go me but still plenty left to do! I always regret not buying DD a shirt for every day!

Stilllivinginazoo · 14/09/2018 21:54

I look at 15 shirts on a Friday night need washing and regret having one for each child per daysassGrin

DS had mother all panic attacks triggered by scarlet face and racing pulse.poor bean he's not coping with feeling odd and keeps hyperventilating...go be a long few days til we can teach him how to get start gain control of himself a bitSad

Lots washing as usual
A nap(well it is the weekend)Grin

Hope poorly fledglings feel better

Spreadingcudweed · 15/09/2018 07:06

Morning all! Hope all the poorlies had a reasonable night's sleep. Brew

DD felt really ill last night with bad cold/flu virus and I don't feel comfortable leaving her on her own today which is a shame because it means poor DH has to do apple harvest single handed at wreck2 by himself having got back from travels late last night poor bloke, but can't be helped. So I am off to do supermarket shop before he sets off and there is someone in house - at least I can cook some soups and invalid food today while he is gone and make a nice dinner for when he gets back- also wanted to start diet today and determined to do so despite feeling fluey myself!

Hope everyone has a good 'un!

Spreadingcudweed · 15/09/2018 07:07

Sorry, just read that you did not sleep at all well Zoo hope you can nap later Flowers

Beautiful day too! Bum! Never mind, would have been a bit miserable for her and it's important she gets better for school next week. SassitudeandSparkle · 15/09/2018 10:32

Yes, we can't win with the shirts zoo! At least being smaller, there is less of DD's to iron than DH's!

Sorry your son is still feeling so bad, it's hard as a child when you can't rationalise the feelings at all (it's tough as an adult even when you can tbh).

Having stopped my antibiotics my infection seems to have returned, so I've got an emergency appointment later in the day. Ho hum. No wonder I felt bad yesterday though.

Have done one load of laundry so far, will press on in case I feel much worse on the antibiotics again!

Spreadingcudweed · 15/09/2018 10:38

Spreadingcudweed · 15/09/2018 10:50

Hurdy gurdy man and his toy monkey have just gone past Ran out to give him a Euro! He always comes by at this time of year and DD is still excited about it; she used to love him when she was little!

Bowerbird5 · 15/09/2018 12:49

Afternoon everyone.

Feeling bit sorry for myself.

Had quite a good day unexpectedly yesterday. Easy morning getting to know new colleague ( new venture for me) and taught reception in afternoon which I was dreading not being well and them being new however we had quite a calm afternoon bar 1. They enjoyed activity and it helped get to know them more.
Did b all at home and got DH to go for fish and chips even though we had bought some fish with shopping. Neither of us could be bothered to cook. Me because poorly him because he had just woken up from 1 1/2 hrs salep on sofa! Hmm
I cooked breakfast this morning and have put a wash on. I've come back to bed. I feel awful throat still sore. Just had a gin liqueur for medicinal purposes of course. He will have to take DD to craft fair or whatever. He was going to watch football in town and I was to drop him off and pick her up and then reverse later.
I feel exhausted from busy, stressful week at work and raging throat so have given in. I did have a good sleep last night.
Zoo I was like you and couldn't function properly almost hyperactive from lack of sleep so GP put me on meds. I cut it in half so just 5mg a night and I get a full 7-8 hrs bar toilet breaks. I came off them myself but have had to go back on with stress as started having 3-4 hrs again now great sleep pattern.Your breakfast sounded yummy. I sometimes think that...why do we bother. Next time make yourself something yummy and shake the cereal box at them😆

Bowerbird5 · 15/09/2018 12:50

Shame about harvest SC but wise to let her recoup. Make her have sleep this afternoon and have an hour to yourself reading or something.

Spreadingcudweed · 15/09/2018 13:19

Thank you Bower dd has gone back to bed as this virus is going in waves, she may descend to sofa later but she's not up to much, white as a sheet, not even eating much today so trying to encourage her to drink. Sods law it is absolutely glorious weather here! Never mind! So sorry that you are under par too. Hope you can get plenty of rest today and tomorrow and that your DH steps up with chef-ing and chauffeuring duties!
