I was a gloss virgin until yesterday evening when i made a start on my skirting boards....when it was time to pack away i washed out the brush and small roller...my hands were covered in white gloss and it was drying and spreading everywhere.....i had to soak my hands in nail polish remover for the rest of the evening, but there is still bits on my hands and especially my nails.....

...dp told me off when he got in....he said i was dozey...lol...i thought it would wash off like normal paint...i was so wrong....

....dp had to make the sandwichs this monring for hygiene reasons.....

olive oil and salt - works wonders!

ProfYaffle · 23/05/2007 10:06

Should add I've only used it on fresh paint, not dried on overnight paint.

Thanks for your tips, my neighbour came to the recue in the end and gave me some sort of surgical wipes that are sold in chemists..they are used to get stickness off skin after heart monitor thingies/plasters etc......worked brilliantly!

Thought i'd mention it just incase there is anyone as daft as me out there!

haha white spirit works best

tuftyclub · 24/05/2007 11:55

I always gloss with a really small brush while wearing rubber gloves, I find this way the gloss os easier to control and none gets on your hands.

southeastastra · 24/05/2007 11:56

woo that's a good idea tuftyclub!

Twinmummyx2 · 24/05/2007 15:48

Rubber gloves are bought and ready to go for stage 2 of the glossing!

twinmummyx2 it takes a bit longer but I rather take an extra 10 mins than be scrubbing my hands until they are raw.
