No,not the water from the sink. If the waste pipe isn't high enough water goes back into the machine and reeks just as you are describing. It sits in the base of the machine , just under the drum.

Mummy15 · 12/09/2017 21:16

This is when the hose drains from and its conected to sink same way and same hight as pic

Get a plumber in

DameDiazepamTheDramaQueen · 12/09/2017 21:21

I'm only going on personal experience but that twisted bit of pipe needs to be much higher I think.

Mummy15 · 12/09/2017 21:31

I have pulled the machine out and put it over unit rather than under is any off these any better

I had this I was getting backflow back up the waste pipe. Remove the pipe you have and put lots of water down the waste
Pipe. If it overflows you know
You have a problem further down. It stank. I think mine needs clearing again as there are loads of leaves in the garden which
Could have clogged the drains and my last wash didn't smell that great.

smellycoat · 12/09/2017 22:45

This happened to me, and horrors upon horrors! It turned out the septic tank was not emptying as it should,
so sewage was periodically pushing back, and got sucked into the washing machine. When the soakaway from the septic tank was repaired, the washing machine had to have the filters cleaned AND be put on a boil wash to get rid of the detritus.

abitoflight · 12/09/2017 22:52

Those last 2 pics look better
If u bend clear and that sink is draining ok then it will be the positioning of washer drain pipe I think as earlier poster said
Give it a hot wash with dishwasher tablet/oxiaction/big box powder to flush crap/smelly such from pipes then try another wash maybe?

wowfudge · 12/09/2017 22:58

The waste pipe connecting to the sink waste is fine - it doesn't have to go into a pipe like Dame's does, but I think you should get a plumber to check everything out as it doesn't sound right and shouldn't be stinking.

Try the dishwasher tablet trick, works better than any specific cleaner

DameDiazepamTheDramaQueen · 13/09/2017 08:16

If it's a new machine,it must be the plumbing or drains.

DameDiazepamTheDramaQueen · 13/09/2017 08:46

Intermittent odor is a sure sign remaining residue just above the normal waterline. Full loads come in contact with the residue in the splash area and the clothing is contaminated again with spores

Mummy15 · 13/09/2017 09:00

Dont think its resadue as i only use 100 ml off powder and its a 9 kg machine ie if i wash 4 towls on a cottern wash i put 100ml in

OP posts:
DameDiazepamTheDramaQueen · 13/09/2017 09:04

They mean too much water not draining away which then goes stinky.

rabbit123 · 13/09/2017 10:07

100ml to wash 4 towels? God, I do double that with about 60-70ml.

Definitely sounds like you're getting drain water sitting in the bottom of the machine. The drain hose may exit from the top of the machine but the pump is underneath the drum. Which means there is a pipe built into the washer that you can't see that sends the water up out the drain hose.
