Is there anything more satisfying than getting to scrub a whole room top to bottom?

My house is long overdue a good dunging out. I'm doing a room at a time. I did DS2's pigsty room the other day which took me 7 (SEVEN) hours! Shock then the spare room (easy peasy half an hour)

Did the bathroom today which took 3. It is sooo gorgeous and shiny and clean! I keep walking past and just stopping to look at it. Grin I didn't want to let the DCs in for their bath.

I do realise I need to get an actual life Grin

Me too. I' m potty training ds at the minute, between that and the pissing rain we have had a day in. I cleaned the play room. Every jigsaw piece counted, every toy Box sorted, every toy cleaned, books sorted, teddies washed ...

I even washed the duplo.

Feels good.

Veronicat · 03/08/2017 22:02

I spent four hours today cleaning the oven and turning the kitchen drawers and cupboards out. I stuck the cutlery tray through the dishwasher and bleached all my cutlery and mugs. It's lovely. Grin

dudsville · 03/08/2017 22:08

I wish this kind of thing didn't make me so happy, but it does! I did my woodwork, including doors, and walls where tea stains and dog muddy splatters, last weekend and I am still admiring my handy work. Took ages as it was on top of regular chores, but worth it.

MeanAger · 03/08/2017 22:11

Oh I've yet to do the Toys and kitchen. I've been putting it off tbh as the kitchen has so many cupboards. And all my paperwork is in there too. will feel so good afterwards though.

We only put our kitchen in last December but clutter has been creeping in the past few weeks. I just spent four hours clearing and cleaning everything. It even echoes now lol.

Pinkgeek · 03/08/2017 22:15

I did every room a few weeks ago and I was so proud I posted pics on fb! Friends thought I'd decorated it, no I'd just cleaned Grin

InDubiousBattle · 03/08/2017 22:18

I did my craft cupboard and kitchen yesterday Smile. Going to do my bedroom tomorrow but I won't get it finished properly because it will be done during naps.

Rock and Roll op, Rock and Roll.

I've made my peace with being this sad! Knowing that there are disorganised cupboards makes me anxious. Everything being nice and clean makes me calm!

londonista · 03/08/2017 22:19

This is a thread I could get into.
I did the boys bedroom a week ago. Took me 6 hours. I categorised all their books, reunited all the games and puzzle pieces, rooted out all the clothes they no longer fit from the wardrobe, washed their quilts, curtains, replaced batteries, scraped off stickers from lamps, stocked shelves next to beds with summer reading. I even sharpened all the pencils in their pen pots!! My husband thought I'd lost my mind. I did feel a bit manic actually at the time, but I just didn't want to stop. Felt very smug afterwards.

MeanAger · 03/08/2017 22:19

Grin I genuinely contemplated taking a photo of the bathroom but then people would be wondering what state it was in beforehand for me to be bragging about a clean bathroom!

I'd like to watch someone else Marie Kondo sort out my house while I sit and watch. I can eat naice cake and drink wine and enjoy the whole experience sans effort Blush

MeanAger · 03/08/2017 22:23

Shock londonista sets the standard! Grin I didn't get to washing curtains but his are pretty fresh anyway. He never sleeps in the bloody room anyway! Just messes it up then sleeps in mine! Hmm

I think I will do my favourite room tomorrow, ensuite. I love doing it. Not sure why. Maybe because it is so little I get the satisfaction really quickly!

MeanAger · 03/08/2017 22:26

Coco my friend actually sat and watched me clean her house! She asked me to come up and give her a hand cleaning the house before she moved. No problem. Except she hadn't even packed the room she wanted me to start in so I started packing and she sat on the bed beside her drunk sister who was supposedly "helping" with the cleaning and they watched me pack and clean.

londonista · 03/08/2017 22:28

Cocoloco I believe that's a "thing"! My pal got given voucher for her bday to have someone come on and declutter. She's been too scared/embarrassed to use it - her place is terrifying, like an archeological dig - layer upon layer of artefacts!

londonista · 03/08/2017 22:30

MeanAger did you see the thread about vacuuming your mattress? Apparently it's equal parts satisfying/terrifying

MeanAger · 03/08/2017 22:36

I didn't see the thread but I do vacuum mattress every couple of months. I sprinkle bicarbonate of soda with lavender oil in it and leave it on all day then vacuum. Extremely satisfying. I bought a Miele cat and dog vacuum cleaner and it makes vacuuming so satisfying. It leaves lines!! Grin

OP posts:
londonista · 03/08/2017 22:42

drools

Lines!!

InDubiousBattle · 03/08/2017 22:44

Coco I have 3 friends whose houses I would love to get my hands on! Obviously I keep those feelings to myself!

Bellabelloo · 03/08/2017 22:51

Oooh. Can you all come over to mine please?!

Haudyerwheesht · 03/08/2017 23:02

I've recently decluttered all of ds's room - I keep going in and looking in his wardrobe because it's half empty and at his bookcase where all the books are lined up nicely.

midnightflowers · 03/08/2017 23:09

Can someone come do mine? 3dc pregnant and no energy.
I'll pay you! With wine & cake Grin

MeanAger · 03/08/2017 23:18

Honestly, I think if I didn't have to earn an income I would spend my time deep cleaning people's homes for free. Only on the condition that I did it my way and spent as long as I liked at it. You could easily find me in your study at 1am Grin

OP posts:
CocoLoco87 · 04/08/2017 08:08

You could start with my home! I'd pay you!! I already pay a cleaner but I always make sure me and DC are out when she comes so I don't get to watch her. Watching people clean and tidy gives me tingles sometimes! I find it really soothing. Is that weird? please don't let me be the only one like this

londonista · 04/08/2017 08:16

Mean I have HAND ON HEART literally just ordered a Miele hoover.

I am giddy with excitement.

I too desperately need to get a fucking life.

MeanAger · 04/08/2017 09:18

Grin london you will not regret it! Which one did you get? I love hoovers

coco as long as there is plenty of tea on the go I don't care how tingly you get Grin

I watch videos on YouTube of people cleaning their houses. Blush

Oh I detest cleaning. But I did clear out my wardrobe (8 bags of stuff to charity shop/ clothes bank) and organise the toy room.

I spent yesterday looking forward to putting kids to bed and folding the mountain of clean clothes. It is the only household chore I genuinely love. So relaxing.
