Is there anything more satisfying than getting to scrub a whole room top to bottom?

My house is long overdue a good dunging out. I'm doing a room at a time. I did DS2's pigsty room the other day which took me 7 (SEVEN) hours! Shock then the spare room (easy peasy half an hour)

Did the bathroom today which took 3. It is sooo gorgeous and shiny and clean! I keep walking past and just stopping to look at it. Grin I didn't want to let the DCs in for their bath.

I do realise I need to get an actual life Grin

Sorted out my bedroom today. Really looking forward to going to bed in it. Had to have the toddler with me at the time as he refused to nap. I had him washing my make up brushes. He got bored and fell asleep in my bed eventually!

MeanAger · 04/08/2017 21:22

Grin that's a job I haven't done in ages either, my make up brushes. I don't have any toddlers to do it though. Do you hire him out?

I didn't get any cleaning done today. I was looking after my friend's little boy so not possible. Tonight is just crashing on the sofa. Tomorrow is a new day. I think my bedroom + ensuite are getting blasted next.

I have developed an extreme love of cleaning and cleaning products. I keep finding new things to clean in my house. I also keep re cleaning the same thing as it's so satisfying.
Mean- I'm with you in the YouTube videos!! I keep watching ones of really dirty carpets being cleaned and hoovered. It's so satisfying. And I can't wait to get down the cleaning aisle and see what new products I can buy

MeanAger · 04/08/2017 22:10

lelly I watched a video on FB this week of a machine cleaning kitchen floor tiles. The grout was black to start which I thought was the actual colour of the grout. No! It was dirt and one sweep of this machine had it bright white again. I watched that video 3 times for the pure joy of seeing the grout go from black to white. Also, I now need that machine. Grin

Btw if anyone knows of a motorised scrubbing brush type thing that would do a great job of properly cleaning my kitchen floor vinyl that has a fucking awful texture and literally grips onto all dirt it sees I would be eternally grateful.

I don't get why it's so satisfying and soothing, that video sounds amazing as does that machine

EnidButton · 05/08/2017 20:42

My kind of thread!

There are YouTube cleaning videos? I've watched quite a few organising ones. They're very satisfying. Especially the American ones when they have huge closets and masses of drawers with evenly spaced dividers.

ParkProperly · 05/08/2017 20:53

Yes Enid! People set up a camera/laptop in their kitchen/lounge/wherever and then just go about their cleaning routine. But when you watch it, it's usually sped up so you aren't watching 2 hours more like 10 minutes. It is weirdly satisfying. Some really nice houses. I actually subscribed to one woman who has a really gorgeous house. Can't remember her name now.

ParkProperly · 05/08/2017 20:54

Fuck sake, when will I get the hang of this name change business! Grin I am meanager.

Frouby · 05/08/2017 21:00

We go on holiday Monday. The fridge, cupboard and wardrobes are either empty or half empty. I did a big clean today.

The day after we come back DP is back to work and DD is out all day on an activity.

I am desperately looking forwards to cleaning the kitchen cupboards, wardrobes and drawers with DS (3) before I refill them. #sadfucker

PearlyPinkNails · 05/08/2017 21:38

Oh I love a good sort out. I'm doing mine room by room for the next week.

I'm ridiculously excited. Today I did the window frames, they look brand new even thought they are horrible white UPVC

BirdBandit · 05/08/2017 21:43

meanager I bought one! It is like a mini floor polisher, I love it. (Off to find link)

MeanAger · 05/08/2017 21:46

Oh wow! bird 😍 I need it. Is if good? I'm putting that on my credit card Xmas wish list.

Mean Ooh they sound good. What do you search for? Just 'cleaning routine' or something?

I was going to do a blushing emoji but I'm not actually embarrassed Grin I like organising stuff and making things shiny.

MeanAger · 05/08/2017 21:52

Yes things like my daily cleaning routine or my morning cleaning routine. It will bring up loads of videos for you to lose hours watching. Grin

I bought it after I had my wooden floors sanded, because I forgot that I had a dog, two kids and a job. I imagined I would have beautiful clean and waxed floors all the time.

My one doesn't vacuum. It has scrubbers which do a great job of the grotty Lino in the kitchen. Just mop then squirt jif/cif then scrub. You have to do a sweeping arch motion like the big ones in hospitals etc.

EnidButton · 05/08/2017 22:00

Grin Thank you!

GloriaHotcakes · 05/08/2017 22:13

Elbow grease cleaner is amazing on floors, literally like a new floor afterwards.

MeanAger · 05/08/2017 22:52

I got some elbow grease today and tried it on a patch of my kitchen vinyl. Really impressed. I was wondering if it can be used in a carpet shampooer or steam mop. I am assuming not. I ruined my last steam mop by putting zoflora in it (despite being warned on MN not to do it Blush) so I don't want to risk ruining another one.
