Carpet Emergency

Just recently moved house, put a lovely cream carpet down on stairs, none of us wear our shoes/slippers upstairs so it stays clean BUT DS had his friend in to play yesterday and he had OIL on his socks (his dads a mechanic).

I have waited to see if it dries and hopefully i get hoover some of it off but i started smudgeing so i stopped and i dont know what to do now.

Can anyone advise?

swafega (sp) the stuff mechanics use to clean their hands should remove it, but test on a spare bit first.Dab a little on at a time and blot with kitchen towel.Clean with carpet cleaner afterwards.

what about that stain devils stuff, I think theres one for oil
