I'm in a hard water area, and I haven't used conditioner for years. And I line-dry my clothes, too! They aren't like cardboard, and you will be fine!

Towels can be a bit stiff if they are straight off the clotheshorse but not if they've been in the airing cupboard. And conditioner makes them less absorbent - I have come to actively dislike the sort of "greasy" feel that over-conditioned towels can have.

Just taken some washing out! The only difference is the smell.

I've never used fabric conditioner. The majority of the laundry goes into the tumble dryer anyway so there's no particular benefit.

i stopped using fabric conditioner when my kids were born as they have eczema. I don't notice any difference in softness. It's a total con.

We haven't used it in about 3 years. We stopped to save money, then never started using it again.

A friend just gave us a bag of clothes for DS and omg the reek of conditioner Envy vom face. It was overpowering and made me feel queasy.

No cardboard effects here and all line-dried.

I read for towels fabric softener isn't good, I stopped using it and I don't have a tumble and like how my towels have some out so far. For all other clothes I wait until the last 10 mins of the cycle add a splash of fabric softener, capful of zoflora and top up in a jug with water and pour that in the drawer, the clothes come out smelling amazing!

I don't use it and I don't have a dryer. It's fine.

I have come to actively dislike the sort of "greasy" feel that over-conditioned towels can have. I agree!

I hate the chemical nastiness of it. Add that together with how you can often smell it on someone's clothes 3 ft away - yuk.

Loads of info online about the make up of it this is just one article.

I do have a dryer but it isn't used often, rarely for a full load (mid winter perhaps when I would need it whether I used FS or not) but sometimes to soften up my towels on a ten minute cycle if they are particularly stiff.
