Hi everyone, I've been to fly, goodhousekeeping in the past, all in a vain attempt to get on top of my very cluttered abode Now without going into every detail but mainly due to suffering on and off with bouts of depression, the house was in some state!
Ok, some may say I took the easy option but I hired an Aggie/Kim type company who have come in and basically stormed through the place! I can see my floors again.
Anyhoo, thing is, I now have tons of stuff boxed, paperwork, clothes and all sorts.

I will sound really lame but as well as being a single mum, I'm also doing a degree but I want to establish some sort of routine and don't want to let it slide again. Sorry this post is taking forever but could people share their tips.

TIA

Hi

Don't feel bad about getting people in to do a basic spring clean, that's just sensible! Especially if you have struggled with depression - it's like a new start.

Also, if you are a single mum and are doing a desgree, you are already doing more than many people before you even start on the house so don't be hard on yourself. If I were you I think I would try and work out what are the basics and just concentrate on that, with maybe a weekly hour or so of tackling your boxes of clutter. Have you got a spare room where you could pile all of it in the meantime? If you don't have to look at it it seems less depressing, and at least it will all be in one place for you to work on.

How old are your DC? They could have responsibilities based on their age/abilities, which is not only good for you but it's good for them to learn how to look after a home.

I am doing Flylady and it does help to have a routine/small task every day. Maybe it would be more use to you now you have got the basic cleanliness covered?

Good luck

Nine

Aw nine, thanks, my dd is 20 and ds is 6, I thiks beause it was so bad before and because I wasn't doing anything myself, I didn't expect the dc to do anything either, a head in the sand attitude iyswim, ow while I don't want to turn into a chore nazi,
I think maybe drawing up a rota of what needs to be doe certain days might be a good idea but then I don't want something very rigid, the main thing is that I want to start with a clea slate, no pun intended!
I shudder to realise how bad I let it get but as you say, I'm going to try and not be too hard on myself but at the same time, I want to start now as I mean to go on.
