Ok, so as there is no thread, and I can't remember or find a volunter for this month I declare summer mode operational.

This means:

  1. You are still welcome to join and post
  1. If you want there to be links and no one has posted them, feel free to post them.
  2. As technical thread leader I shall be hanging out in the naughty corner bar
  3. We'll still answer questions for anyone wanting information on the fly lady system and support each other. It's just a little more relaxed.

And with that, bring on July and crazy pants school holiday stuff...

Local BBC weather forecasting torrential rain/thunderstorms tomorrow.that be grand for dd2 sports day(glad secondary don't invite parents) this "summer" seems more humid than usual and I hate it

Stilllivinginazoo · 11/07/2016 20:14

We not met a Celeste, though was a celestia in nursery.dh pick it cos pretty and unusual.

That's quite an impressive list. I not to bad for insects cept bloody fruit fly's(ongoing saga).think near broke back of damn things.I've only killed 4today

Cagliostro · 11/07/2016 20:30

I love the name Celeste :) and welcome! :) I met a Celeste recently, her mum is French.

I have done sod all in the house. I can't even be bothered to hang the washing on the airer and I've not done any more shredding. We had a lovely morning out at a home ed class, then went to the park. Took some of the DCs' home ed stuff up to their den as it was really sunny. A tiny green grasshopper landed on me. :) Pouring down now though.

Got an impromptu playdate tomorrow morning - a boy who only recently came out of school and is struggling, but he's really hit it off with my DS. DH is going to pick up my medicine (usual stuff plus antibiotics as the Dr didn't like the sound of my coughing, and I'm still wheezy). Then DD has writing club after that. So will probably do a bit more poetry. Today we were watching Frozen Planet as she's trying to write one about polar bears. :)

Still, should actually do some kind of housework...

Stilllivinginazoo · 11/07/2016 20:47

Sounds like you've had a lovely day cag

I want my kids to remember me as someone had time for them to go park etc rather than "mum always cleaning, house was spotless" fat chance

celeste83 · 11/07/2016 21:03

Zoo I did most of that list before lunch as they were only quick tasks really. Mondays i find is always about regaining control of the house after the weekend, generally a good tidy up and sifting through all the laundry i do on Sunday. I hate blue flies, luckily we haven't had any visits from them this summer, we seem to get these little flying insects. Almost moth like but they are tiny. No idea what they are.

YesEinsteinsMumDid · 11/07/2016 21:04

SO thanks to evening meeting my to do list has grown. Ds has reminded me of a load of stuff that I had forgotten and is conviently ignore the request for him to get ready for bed Angry The fruit is cooking down reading for the jamming bit which I will do tomo after I have put the jars through the dish washer. My bed appears to be covered by paperwork which is a complete mystery to me because I have been doing any paperwork. I am currently glad that the TV is broken and that there is no opportunity to watch the depressing car crash that is UK politics. I still haven't fixed the curtain rail not that anyone else has either. And I swear I killed the laundry pile but there is definitely a mountain of the stuff at the top of the stairs If I stand and turn around once you'd think I hadn't done anything today Sad

OP posts:
Stilllivinginazoo · 11/07/2016 21:17

Einstein shove paperwork in a bag.deal it another time.since I had kids I've discovered laundry has a mind of its own and trickles down stairs if left unattended more 24hrs

Stilllivinginazoo · 11/07/2016 21:20

PS little zoo curtail rail delk down 2weeks ago
I haven't skills or spare cash to get sorted(just discovered a friend nifty with drill and may bail me out end this week)meanwhile I sprayed her window water and press tinfoil against it good job windows at back house and my hedge is high and unruly so no one can see in

YesEinsteinsMumDid · 11/07/2016 23:46

I have the skills and the equipment to fix the curtain rail. Its a simple job and just needs some proper filler, a new raw plug (both of which I have) and then screwing back in when the filler has set. Time and remembering to do it is the issue. I generally don't remember until I pull the curtains and heading to bed. As for the paperwork just confused as to how my bed was covered. It has been dispatched to the pile in the corner. Paperwork breeds like fruit flies. Its worse than the rabbits in the laundry.

Tomorrow I need to do lots of stuff. I can tell you know I won't wanna.

Welcome Celeste!

Busy morning here, dropped off a repeat prescription, been shopping, bit more driving around checking locations (where we need to be over the next couple of days). Will get ready to go out this afternoon and have some lunch shortly (out at the school all afternoon) and then one thing to dash to tonight. Tomorrow is a bit lively too but then it all calms down to more of a normal pace.

Not much achieved in the house, though! There is always tonight, should be in for most of it.

Stilllivinginazoo · 12/07/2016 12:25

YesEinsteinsMumDid · 13/07/2016 00:04

Well i don't know what all you lot have been up to but it was mighty quiet in here this evening.

Move book case
win at book tetris
5 loads of washing
1/2 the ironing mountain

child smartened up and properly washed

jam made and cooling in jars

2 batches of bread
paperwork into school

boil up jam pot to help loosen jam in the clear up process
Marvel at how little splashing of jam when there is plenty of room left in the pot
piss off parents on the school run. Sorry but aspie child in meltdown tends to be loud and sweary.

Just waiting for the washing machine so uniform can go in the dryer, making a hot water bottle and hoping the pain killers kick in before too long. Sorting ds' room was bloody hard work!

OP posts:
Stilllivinginazoo · 13/07/2016 05:14

Einsteinthat's a pretty impressive list.what kind if jam you been making?

I discovered we are in bathroom zone so gave that a deep clean(bathrooms favourite zone as no clutter i n there unlike rest of the house)

BlueEyeshadow · 13/07/2016 08:09

Thought I posted yesterday evening but it doesn't seem to have worked. There was a most exciting thunder storm on the way home and we all got soaked to the skin, so subsequent flying has been of the mopping up, trying to dry shoes out variety!

YesEinsteinsMumDid · 13/07/2016 09:10

Summer Fruit of various varieties. I have another batch of Jam i should be doing today. If i can figure out which truck hit me in my sleep. Another long list of stuff i should be doing but going to take the morning to chill out and just be. Ds left saying I sounded shocking this morning. Hmm

celeste83 · 13/07/2016 09:37

Morning,

Get well soon Einstein I would love to be able to make Jam. Is it quite easy to do?

Einstein and Zoo you are night owls and early birds respectively.

I love a good thunderstorm Blue

Yesterday i managed to hoover downstairs, make tea and bath ds.

Today it is yet another rubbish gloomy day. They said today was going to be blue sky sunny here on our local weather Angry We were looking to go to our local beach this evening for fish n chips and go play crazy golf. This summer is beginning to annoy me now.

Ta da

fed ds
washed dishes
dettol'd kitchen worktop
made beds
wiped bathroom basin, put domestos down loo

Just having a cuppa before i carry on Brew Got a friend popping over for a playdate with her dd after lunch.

YesEinsteinsMumDid · 13/07/2016 09:53

Some jams are easier than others. some are just cook fruit down in x amount of water. Add y amount sugar and boil until setting point (plate put in freezer for testing)
Others are cook fruit down in x amount water then add a and b ingrediants and cook together. Add y amount sugar and boil until setting point. stand 5 mins and stir up and then pot up. And various combinations of various stages. To make the clear jam/jellies there are straining steps. So it CAN be easy but recipe/fruit choice is key.

Cagliostro · 13/07/2016 14:24

Mmmm jam.

Yep weather is confusing the hell out of me too.

I haven't done anything of note today. Yesterday I got DD a basketball as she might be trying out a new club. She was outside til 9pm practising :o

I really should get on with more shredding or something. I also need to try and find the card reader, as I'm trying to book a trapeze workshop for DD and need to pay online. Grrrr at lack of PayPal. :o

Cagliostro · 13/07/2016 14:24

And of course the card reader can't possibly be somewhere sensible. Obviously. [sighs at own ineptitude]

Slingcrump · 13/07/2016 17:06

[Shakes off rain, falls over suitcases in hall and rushes in to naughty corner to see if there are any tubs of chocolate left ... then remembers about the diet ... ]

Just diving in to say "hi" to all! Haven't had time to catch up with thread properly yet but hope everyone ok!

We are home now after an enjoyable but testing time (slayed by hideous migraine in middle of most important bit - unfortunate combo of travel stress, trying to diet and extremely muggy weather) but recovered and ready for action now. (Well dh is still a bit ill from flu but he hasn't really given himself any time to recover properly as usual as he has been working flat out.) Camping stuff still piled up in hall from dd's trip last week plus latest bags and suitcases. Mt Washmore here I come! Going to need crampons and high altitude equipment at this rate!

Before I forget, a warm welcome to Celeste! (I know a Celestine over here!)

Hello to chocolatecakemakesmefat I hope you are feeling much, much better now!

Hope the zoolets are feeling better now too Stilllivinginazoo

I'll pray to St Anthony for you Cag! Grin I love grasshoppers too! And you've got me thinking about polar bear poetry now and I haven't finished the sloth one yet!

V impressed by all the domestic goddessy stuff going on in the thread [looks over admiringly at Einstein and Stilllivinginazoo ] Grin

Hope the end of term madness is calming down now Cotswold and Blue and well done for surviving everyone!

Argh, too much to report, to much to do. (DD has just told us that most of her friends are off to sunnier climes after the 20th so we have to have her birthday party before that date - so am hastily organising it for this weekend - yikes! It's a big ask given current state of the house but going to give it my best shot! And dd will be drafted in to help. And bugger it, they are 13 yr olds, hopefully they will be too fixated on their selfies to notice the mess!

Blue Something just for you! DD had us in stitches on the way home with a rendition, in French, of 'Molly Malone' ... talk about 'scanning' difficulties! Grin

"Dans la belle ville de Dublin,
où les filles sont si jolies,
j'ai pour la première fois posé les yeux sur la douce Molly Malone."

(Which demonstrates rather well I think - if you know the tune - that there are some things one just shouldn't attempt to translate directly! Grin

All encompassing cheery waves to everyone else!

Back to Flying with a vengeance now ... .

Stilllivinginazoo · 13/07/2016 19:12

Always plenty supply's of chocolate in naughty cornerGrin

Sod diets.eat and be happy!!

Not much flying here today, spent bit time dp(rarer than see pink alligators do fly past due to staff shortages)

Slingcrump · 13/07/2016 21:48
