FLYLADIES - how many of you really wear shoes???

Smithagain · 14/01/2007 17:07

I'm flirting with Flylady (as it were) and a lot of it I like. But the shoe thing really bugs me. I hate wearing shoes indoors and the reminders are beginning to p me off.

So come clean Flyladies. How many of you do the shoe thing. Does it really work? Or are you all secret shoe-less rebels?

Part of me is curious to see if there's anything in it. But my 4yo is nicely conditioned into taking her shoes off when she gets in the door. I don't think she would grasp "mummy wears shoes but I don't" and don't want to undermine her single concession to orderliness!

And if you don't have a clue what I'm on about, look at www.flylady.net.

Lol at this - a shoeless rebel here too, but also owner of a VERY unshiny sink i'm hoping to have rectified this by bedtime. So far i'm just going with the routines which work for me - perhaps I need to embrace it all a bit more wholeheartedly..

JARM · 14/01/2007 17:28

cancel the emails and stick to the thread on here

personally, Once I am up, washed and dressed, shoes do go on, but then I take DH to work so have to!

When I get home, if there is lots to be done, I wont take my shoes off - I really do think shoes keep you motivated.

If there isnt too much to do, I tend to take them off!

I really hate wearing shoes and socks, but if it gets the housework done - who cares!

Jelley · 14/01/2007 17:32

I'm a fairly regular FLYer, and the discussions on the threads have concluded that most of us don't wear shoes to do housework, especially not lace ups

Come and join in, it's much better than the email overload.

tortoise · 14/01/2007 17:34

No shoes in the house here. I do wear slippers if my feet get cold!

satinshoes · 14/01/2007 17:55

i do sometimes and not others. i do actually do more when wearing them eg, dont put off putting rubbish out etc

Surfermum · 14/01/2007 18:00

No shoes here. Big comfy slippers.

I've never shone my sink either .

I decided on another thread with Flamesparrow that I was more of a Flea lady than a Fly lady.

glitterfairy · 14/01/2007 18:14

No shoes for me!! Bare feet mostly

shouldbedoingthehousework · 14/01/2007 18:41

I've never "flown" with shoes on, but I do like my slippers! I don't do half of what Flylady says but do find the routine and the thread very encouraging - it seems to work for me

HazelNuts · 14/01/2007 18:55

I`m like tortoise. I don't wear shoes indoors. I like to think shoes are for outside and slippers are for inside. or at least indoor shoes.
I think it saves having all the dirt from outside coming in to the home that way. I think if you have indoor shoes, then its possible to wear them outside if you have to go out.

I have slippers in the house and some slip on shoes next to the back door for if I need to go outside (ie out rubbish in the bin)

Dc are very good at taking their shoes off before going to far indoors, though sumer times its not so bad. Playing sometimes they can forget to take off if they come in for a quick drink. Even DD(2) will tell you off if you have outdoor shoes on in the house lol

Skribble · 14/01/2007 19:44

I wear my birkis (they fart) (long story) as I like to have something on my feet as they get to cold otherwise. I find shoes or full slippers too sweaty and silly slippers where your toes stick out too silly and slippy on the stairs.

DimpledThighs · 14/01/2007 20:06

I fly and I do get dressed first thing now apart from the shoes - I too am of the no shes in the house opinion - am going to buy slippers tomorrow.

Come on the threads and pick and choose waht you do - i don't think anyone does teh whole flylady thing - it's a mind set honey.

asleep · 14/01/2007 20:08

i have a no shoe policy in this house. so flying without shoes here.

thewoodlandfairy · 14/01/2007 20:45

hurrah! I've just managed to sign off the bloody awful emails. I've been spending ages deleting nonsense about water and going to bed and lots of american, sycophantic nonsense testamonials!
i don't do the shoe thing and having read this thread, now don't feel like too much of a rebel. The shiny sink idea works for me though adn i'm prepared to embrace it all a bit moere now that i've liberated myself from the messages!

thewoodlandfairy · 14/01/2007 20:51

by the way, been away for the weekend... does anyone know what should i have done here? last job i did was the freezer.

asleep · 14/01/2007 20:53

there are no missions at the weekend!

thewoodlandfairy · 14/01/2007 21:09

brilliant! (she says kicking off her shoes, swapping her water for a large G& T and wondering what on earth to do with herself now!) thanks

Lazylou · 14/01/2007 21:16

I don't do the shoes thing, nor the getting dressed right up, including make up. The only time I ever do my housework is in full pyjamams with bed head !

flamesparrow · 14/01/2007 21:17

nope. no shoes

Wintersun · 14/01/2007 21:48

No shoes here either.
I do get dressed however. I don't get anything done if I don't. I would just lounge in my pj's.

mistletoemania · 14/01/2007 21:52

well sort of take boots off but wear slip on shoes so i am able to go to bin and shed and car ifyswim

EllieHsMum · 14/01/2007 22:07

No shoes for me, only socks

ipanemagirl · 14/01/2007 22:25

shoes help imo - focus the mind - they recreate part of mindset of being out there in the world!

bewilderbeast · 14/01/2007 22:37

no shoes here either, I hate wearing shoes, I loathe shoes being worn in my house by anyone, in fact if I could get away with it I would rather not wear shoes anywhere. I do get up and get dressed now though and it does motivate me to start doing things, like logging in to mnet

brimfull · 14/01/2007 22:40

Just popping in to ask about this fly thing, are you meant to get dressed before you come down for breakfast?

thewoodlandfairy · 14/01/2007 22:45

i'm new to it, but yes, shoes and clothes and allsorts of stuff first thing!
