I am in the process of moving and dp and i are debating borrowing the most hideous amount of money - basically over 5 or 6 times earnings.

Anyone care to share ( feel free to name change!!) what horrors they owe?

Go on - make me feel better!

not me, we bought our maisonette as a re-possession so got it at a snip, now it worth 3 times what we paid.

jampots · 13/01/2007 22:56

70k

notasheep · 13/01/2007 22:57

Sold my house and moved into rented and bought a brand new car and no mortgage(until february)

DumbledoresGirl · 13/01/2007 22:58

200 K.

All i can say is, don't do it. It is crippling.

Pablothelittleredfox · 13/01/2007 23:00

So far, mine is the biggest on this thread

DumbledoresGirl · 13/01/2007 23:02

Bigger than ours? Oh thank God. I felt I was going to get some silly reputation...

mustrunmore · 13/01/2007 23:02

We have a tiny mortgage by London standards, yet still have no spare money. How do other people do it?? Most people we know have a car too, and go out at least once a week. Our mortgage is about twice dh's annual salary.

Jimjams2 · 13/01/2007 23:03

Oh I thought I'd be the highest, but DG is bigger- phew

Ceolas · 13/01/2007 23:03

Oh god, NAO. I wouldn't dare!

MrsJohnCusack · 13/01/2007 23:04

we couldn't face getting a huge mortgage so we moved to the other side of the world where we now own a house mortgage-free

bit extreme I know - but we looked at the size of my friends' mortgages and just thought - no, can't cope. I bet there are people who have borrowed bigger multiples! How do you get a mortgage lender to lend you that much, out of interest?

Pablothelittleredfox · 13/01/2007 23:04

Yes, bigger than yours DG

I'm sure it won't be THE biggest. When someone posts a bigger one I'll let you know!

NotAnOtter · 13/01/2007 23:04

no one near yet

DumbledoresGirl · 13/01/2007 23:05

I don't think dh would want me telling you his salary, but suffice it to say, our mortgage is not 5 or 6 times earnings. We struggle every single month. I would not recommend doing what you are thinking of doing NAO.

jampots · 13/01/2007 23:06

my friends is £400,000....but then she is getting a divorce and selling now.

Pablothelittleredfox · 13/01/2007 23:08

See, mine is no longer the largest!

Ours is big but it's manageable and it's certainly not crippling us. That would be my shopping habit

jampots · 13/01/2007 23:10

jajas - what value is your house though. if its worth 1m then 350 isnt that bad. if its worth 275 then its shite
