Why am I the only person in the world who knows how to load a dishwasher properly?

Well I suppose Anthea Turner does. I'll admit that.

But no other fucker seems to understand the basics. Perfectly intelligent people seem to turn into complete fuckwits when faced with the task of loading a dishwasher. And people who started out complete fuckwits in the first place... well, I just won't even go there.

Is it that bloody difficult?

throckenholt · 08/11/2006 14:28

what is the right way then ?

flack · 08/11/2006 14:28

tell, then (I don't even own one) Rinse or not to rinse? leave the middle uncluttered or pack it all in tight. I always wondered.

Cappuccino · 08/11/2006 14:29

ooooh

control freak alert

Cappuccino · 08/11/2006 14:30

can't stand it when you go to other people's houses and try to tidy up your dishes politely

and they restack them

I mean I do have my own dishwasher, thanks. And it seems to work okay for me.

NomDePlume · 08/11/2006 14:30

My DH is useless at loading the blardy thing.

Can you believe that there are actually DIAGRAMS & INSTRUCTIONS on correct loading in the flipping manual ??? [boggles]

iota · 08/11/2006 14:30

my dh is ace at packing the dishwasher - gets everything but the kitchen sink in there

FIMBO · 08/11/2006 14:31

Dh is brilliant at loading it too, but then he was brought up with one - so he has had plenty of practice!

WhizzBangCaligula · 08/11/2006 14:31

I don't care how other people stack their dishwashers, I just get pissed off with the way they stack mine.

I think i need to get a hobby.

clumsymum · 08/11/2006 14:34

Ha, I thought it was just me !!

I don't understand how my cleaning lady can empty mine (so she sees where everything has been loaded) but then not be able to load it in the same way.

And my Mums help puts mugs IN THE BOTTOM, even if the top isn't full.

WhizzBangCaligula · 08/11/2006 14:35

And why can't they see that knives go in one little compartment, spoons in another and forks in another? Are they blind?

And the point of it is that you just pull the whole lot out and put them in the drawer when they're clean, instead of having to sort them out.

OP posts:
WhizzBangCaligula · 08/11/2006 14:36

And they put bowls on top of other bowls so tht the water won't go in to the bowl on top and it won't get cleaned...

ComeOVeneer · 08/11/2006 14:36

I wouldn't care how my dh stacked it, I just wish he would. How hard is it to put something n the dishwasher rather than the sink fgs?

sandyballs · 08/11/2006 14:37

What a great idea about the cutlery, hadn't thought of that

iota · 08/11/2006 14:38

cutlery has to be mixed up in my dishwasher ( basket style) or it clings together - dooes yours have a cutlery rack caligula?

clumsymum · 08/11/2006 14:38

No WhizzBang, if you put spoons and forks together, they "spoon" in the dishwasher so the back of one and front of the other won't get washed.

You have to mix them so they can't do that ......

tch tch

iota · 08/11/2006 14:39

great minds, clumsymum

damewashalot · 08/11/2006 14:39

I started off thinking you were weird for caring so much but I'd never thought of the thing with the cutlery you are clever

damewashalot · 08/11/2006 14:41

clumsymum is right, I knew there must be a reason I mixed them up

Kelly1978 · 08/11/2006 14:46

and what if you have three different sets of cultery - then they still have to be sorted out!

ProfYaffle · 08/11/2006 14:51

My Dad is positively afraid of stacking our dishwasher (they don't have one at home) He insists on washing up by hand which annoys me unreasonably.

WhizzBangCaligula · 08/11/2006 14:54

You have to put one spoon in the right way round, one upside down, one the right way round, etc.

Then they don't get spooned together.

DumbledoresGirl · 08/11/2006 14:55

Cappuccino, if ever you come round to mine, please feel free to act as a guest and leave the dishes for me to clear - cos I am someone who always restacks dishwashers! It is not so much that I think there is a right way and a wrong way so much as I like it done my way.

I know I am a control freak btw, you don't need to tell me.

ilovecaboose · 08/11/2006 14:56

dp is fantastic (and admittedly anal) about how the dishwasher is stacked. He gives me lectures when I do it wrong.

HOwever if he is so bothered how come he doesn't do it everyday AS HE PROMISED so I would agree to getting the dishwasher.

NOthing worse than asking him 15 times to do it, giving up and doing it yourself AND THEN being criticised for the way you do it while he stands and watches you unpack it

iota · 08/11/2006 14:57

oh no caligula [cringe] cutlery has to go handles down in the basket for most effective cleaning - all except sharp knives which have to go point down for safety reasons

oliveoil · 08/11/2006 14:57

I have a dishwasher but he doesn't like spoons inserted anywhere in his drawers.
