Here we go again- a new month to whip our houses into shape!

If you're suffering from CHAOS (can't have anyone over syndrome) and STUFF (something that undermines family fun) then you need Flylady.

Don't sign up for emails on the Flylady website as you'll be inundated. Everything you need to know will be posted in the thread on a daily basis.

Depending on the stage you're at with FL you'll be:

  1. Starting or repeating FL's babysteps.
  1. Repeating babysteps + decluttering for 15 minutes per day in current zone.
  1. Reinforce babysteps + daily missions if you'vefinished decluttering.

4.Number 3 and detailed cleaning anyone here yet??!

Bear in mind:

  1. You're never behind!
  1. No perfectionism allowed.
  1. Your house did not get into a mess overnight, it won't get tidy overnight.

Some of the fledglings have been chatting and flying on MN for 10 years. I still think of myself as a newbie sometimes (even though I've been here for 2+ years!). Everyone's welcome! Old timers, newbies and lurkers alike, come and share your ta das, to dos and a whole lot more Smile

Sorry for lack of OP links - am posting on the laptop that time forgot and am just keeping my fx that the OP posts!

Will be back on August 31st (pretty late probably!) with links for the 1st September.

[throws special brew gratefully down throat!!]

LairyPoppins · 18/09/2014 10:54

Hello all, gosh I am so behind with everything - BabyLairy has been having a superfussy few days and now won't be put down for naps so life has become a bit more difficult!

Ta da
DCs dressed and off to school after Birthday bike excitement
Pressies all wrapped ready for them to get home from school
2 loads of washing on the go
Beds made

To do
1/2 hour on work stuff
Sort boys pressies into piles and bring downstairs
Blow up balloons and decorate house
Fold and put away washing
Empty and refill dishwasher

Going to do work stuff first as that has a deadline that I CAN'T miss - the other housework can wait if needed!

BitchyTakesOnManagement · 18/09/2014 11:47

lairy this is flying, according to Flylady you are NEVER behind. Cut yourself a little bit of slack, you have a new baby Grin Do what you can. It is ok.

Today is not going to plan. There is building work stuff in progress. It requries me hovering and being able to help as needed (and make endless cups of tea and coffee). It is not helping me get through everything that i need to do and it is really frustrating me :(

BitchyTakesOnManagement · 18/09/2014 12:48

Ta da
make lunch
dispatch child to school with swimming kit
take down curtains in ds' room
Make sure it is safe to have window painted
folding
ironing
strip my windowsil of contents
remove blind and curtains
Clean out the kitchen bins
bag up a whole load of stuff to go to the charity shop
start collecting stuff for a tip run
Brave heading into the office and having a good rummage.
Find pattern that is needed to finish off a craft project with a fairly urgent deadline
put some crafting stuff away into office dumping ground
find basting pins so can wash a project that needs to be properly quilted instead of partially quilted.
Find cable for connecting cheap dvd player to tv. --ah it'll be nice to watch films in bed again.

It is very clear that there are two areas of things that are out of control, actually make that three: paperwork, crafting and stuff that I might get around to selling at some point. Need to figure out what to do about the stuff have intended to sell. Confused Need to see if i can get around to it sooner rather than later.

Right building work has stopped for the day. So i can get on with the stuff that I need to get on with. Hmm Well if i can discover the area i need to work in HmmConfused. So much dust for one who is allergic to dust.

BitchyTakesOnManagement · 18/09/2014 13:16

I have just realised that I have summer curtains and winter curtains. WTAF? Shock[confusedShock

BitchyTakesOnManagement · 18/09/2014 13:16

BitchyTakesOnManagement · 18/09/2014 13:16

Oh bollocks. You get the jist

WhoKnowsWhereTheTimeGoes · 18/09/2014 13:18

Just taken three bin bags and ten carrier bags of stuff to a charity shop Smile.

House still looks like a tip and friends coming round tonight Sad.

Vivacia · 18/09/2014 13:20

I am in awe of those who can name check everyone such as Stewedcoot does.

Housework taking a back seat for a couple of days as we're away visiting family tomorrow.

Ta da
Post-shower bathroom routine.
Kitchen wiped down, dishwasher filled.
Downstairs hoovered.

Shannaratiger · 18/09/2014 13:42

Hi everyone, just dropping in.
Not much FLYing happening at the moment.
Dd in year 6 sorting statement out at the moment so that hopefully she gets into the Special Needs Secondary school that she really needs.
Ds birthday next friday still presents to buy and friends for tea to decide on.
Getting married on October 25th - still haven't finalised guest list and music!
Being dyspraxic and epileptic makes it even harder to organise things and make decisions.
Feeling completely overwhelmed and stressed! Would love a big pile of jam on toast, but worried won't fit into wedding dress! :(

Oh well better try and find sanity and get on with it.
Have a good day everyone

BitchyTakesOnManagement · 18/09/2014 13:43

Find cable for connecting cheap dvd player to tv. ah it'll be nice to watch films in bed again.
rearrange chest of drawer contents - hopefully more logical now
hang thermal lined winter curtains
30 mins decluttering my floor
take out recycling
remove some weeds that looked at me the wrong way
put clothes away
clean surfaces as they become free, incl drawers
sort out sensory box contents
Find winter bedding (brightly coloured and brushed cotton so uber warm)

I am currently contemplating the order of culling of craft projects. There are a number of big ones that are in progress that need sorting. Also a number of smaller ones. Not sure if it is best to rattle through all the little ones or to do a mixture Confused in the mean time working on Blanket gate 2014. Would like to get that killed off asap tbh. Also have a project that is a gift that needs to be done asap. i think this is going to call for a list. Do like a good list me, but there is a point where the lists have lists and it is just getting silly BlushHmm

Right time to get ds, not exactly a restful day Blush but there is so much that needs to be done and I am will take tomo more gently. Perhaps. maybe sick and tired of fecking compulsory rest

BlueEyeshadow · 18/09/2014 16:19

Waves to SC - sorry to hear about your disappointments and hope your DH and DD are on the mend. Yes, am fine thanks. Just school-related decisions need making. Related to, but different from, all the hassles of the last year. Still not getting much flying done though.

Had school harvest festival for DS1 this afternoon. DS2's was yesterday. Now got to go back up to the school again to pick them up from after-school club! Sigh.

Stewedcoot · 18/09/2014 16:53

Glad you are ok Blue and good luck with school decisions (inherently stressful imo!)

Blimey Bitchy what a list! You are on a roll! Arf at curtain confusion! Grin good luck with crafting cull and v. relieved to hear that you will be taking it easier tomorrow!

Good to have you back Shannaratiger and hope stresses diminish soon! Can you cut down the overwhelmingness in to smaller bits/delegate? (Easier said than done I know!)

Thanks but don't be in awe Vivacia Smile I started this thread five years or so ago with other fellow Fledgling long-timers so much easier for me to keep track of everyone! Also I spend far too much time Mnsetting!! Also, suspect have more time on my hands than most people on this thread, only have one dd (11 yrs) and although have large/unmanageable/unrenovated house only work 9-16 hrs per week. I am in awe of those on here who are juggling babies and toddlers and school age dc and work and housework!!! Enjoy your break away - safe travelling!

Good luck tonight Whoknows and well done re: decluttering!

Lairy ditto wot Bitchy said! imo it is amazing to be doing any Flying at all with baby in tow!

Usual story here: I've done the basics but haven't accomplished one single extra thing. Still feeling a bit yucky tbh. Onwards and upwards and all of that.

Ta da cont'd/...
tidy up downstairs done
clean kitchen surfaces done
sort recycling doing now while cooking supper
pack up sofa bed done
dining room table hot spots done
paperwork NOPE
carry laundered and ironed clothes upstairs done
put away clean clothes done some
think up supper done
boudoir sort NOPE
change sheets done 1 bed
poss quick supermarket shop *done
school run done
hwk supervision *doing now

Well that was an unspeakably boring list Grin Have a good evening everyone!

Stewedcoot · 18/09/2014 16:58

Thinking of you Bitchy as I go off to make jellies for dd who still has sore throat ... specially imported via Amazon ... as dc seem to detest them over here ...although they love savoury jellies which I cannot abide!!

BitchyTakesOnManagement · 18/09/2014 17:57

Grin I have 2 ltrs worth sat in the fridge the other day. I have not been told it has all gone yet. Hmm

I have to rehang ds' blind. I seem to remember there was a lot of swearing involved in getting it hung properly in the first place. Windows have to be open for another hour or so. Guess the neighbours are going to learn exactly how interesting my language can be HmmBlush

Sootball · 18/09/2014 18:58

Heads up for anyone thinking of replacing windows. The dust. OMG the dust

everywhere

BitchyTakesOnManagement · 18/09/2014 19:04

Friday is De-clutter your handbag and car day.

Evening all!

I did indeed sleep well. Didn’t set the alarm for this morning as could get away with being in a bit later and knew baby kicking bladder would wake me anyway

Love reading what you’ve all been up to. It’s very motivating!

sc sorry to hear you’ve been unwell. And sorry to hear about house Sad

Been there sootball - it sucks.

Tired from my working week and visiting parents. Ready to collapse about…..now!

OP posts:
Sootball · 18/09/2014 21:54

In bed as exhausted - dd1 not well at all and her breathing is bothering me a bit. Luckily DH is listening out for her while I get a few hours sleep, I'm pretty sure it's just congestion from a cold but she is coughing a lot and I can hear her rasping from my room.

Thank you for the sympathy re the brick dust and mess, apparently they cleaned up well but I beg to differ. They have tomorrow here as well and they are tackling downstairs including the kitchen so heaven only knows what it'll be like in there.

ToffeeWhirl · 18/09/2014 23:07

Soot - hope your DD gets better soon. The dust might not be helping. Can you keep a window open in her room tonight? She sounds like she might need a spacer and inhaler too - might be worth a trip to the doc tomorrow. We have an inhaler/spacer on standby, as we're all a bit wheezy in this family.

SC - so sorry to hear of your disappointment over the house. It's awful to have your hopes dashed. And also sorry that you've all been poorly. Hope you all feel better soon and your search for a new property can resume.

Engels - thanks for the linkies.

Am off to bed shortly, but not before loading the dishwasher Grin. Am so happy not to have to wash up by hand anymore. Looking forward to coming down to a tidy kitchen in the morning.

Lost this morning to tea and chat with a friend Smile, followed by a visit from the dishwasher repairman, so all home ed stuff was shifted to the afternoon instead. Managed cycling, Maths, handwriting and Titanic stuff, so didn't do too badly in the end. Very little, if any, Flying done today, although the kittens forced me to hoover and mop the kitchen floor after knocking over and shattering a wine glass.

Back to timetable tomorrow.

CallingAllEngels · 19/09/2014 07:43
