Here we go again- a new month to whip our houses into shape!

If you're suffering from CHAOS (can't have anyone over syndrome) and STUFF (something that undermines family fun) then you need Flylady.

Don't sign up for emails on the Flylady website as you'll be inundated. Everything you need to know will be posted in the thread on a daily basis.

Depending on the stage you're at with FL you'll be:

  1. Starting or repeating FL's babysteps.
  1. Repeating babysteps + decluttering for 15 minutes per day in current zone.
  1. Reinforce babysteps + daily missions if you'vefinished decluttering.

4.Number 3 and detailed cleaning anyone here yet??!

Bear in mind:

  1. You're never behind!
  1. No perfectionism allowed.
  1. Your house did not get into a mess overnight, it won't get tidy overnight.

Some of the fledglings have been chatting and flying on MN for 10 years. I still think of myself as a newbie sometimes (even though I've been here for 2+ years!). Everyone's welcome! Old timers, newbies and lurkers alike, come and share your ta das, to dos and a whole lot more Smile

Sorry for lack of OP links - am posting on the laptop that time forgot and am just keeping my fx that the OP posts!

Will be back on August 31st (pretty late probably!) with links for the 1st September.

Glad you have had the tooth seen to, Alice. Definitely take the dentist's advice and take it as easy as possible today. Good news that you only have to pay half the bill to HMRC (although nil would have been even better, obviously).

Engels - sorry you have had to put up with all those delays. I wonder if your low mood is a result of your need for B vits? Aren't low B vits linked to depression? A feel-good film sounds an excellent idea.

Blue - well done on gardening and hotspotting.

WhoKnows - that book looks intriguing, but I'm resisting buying it because I already have a pile of impulse buys on my bedside table. Good that the technique worked for you.

Bitchy - hope you're feeling ok today.

ta da

Took DS2 to the park for cycling practice, which he loved (in spite of the bruises from falling off)
Brew
Breakfast for DS1
Supervised DS2 on ConquerMaths
Hung washing out whilst DS2 practised handwriting
Lunch
Titanic project - watched YouTube clips and read the beginning of a children's book about it
Reminded DS1 to log onto his Maths lesson
LEA website seems to be down again so told DS1 not to bother

Am exhausted. I haven't stopped all morning. The next thing on my list is to make some phone calls, but I'm going to set my alarm and have a sneaky nap instead. DS2 is busy playing Lego, so I think I can get away with it...

AliceDoesntLiveHereAnymore · 15/09/2014 13:38

yes Toffee that is correct regarding B vitamins.

AliceDoesntLiveHereAnymore · 15/09/2014 13:56

Chocolate/dark brown coloured curtains in the dining room. Do you think red and cream are good colours to go with that? Or am I looking at a whole new colour scheme with new curtains. Ooooooh I HATE choosing colours. Blush

Sootball · 15/09/2014 14:08

Surely that's possible alice? Seems horribly unreasonable if not. I did a year self employed and the accountant was dire, I still live slightly in fear that he might have done something wrong! Pleased that you have had dental input and hopefully you are on the mend swiftly.

So this morning went well with organising although dd1s new playgroup asked me to stay settle her which was fine but dd2 got into the water tub by climbing in and so I had to leave pretty swiftly to get her dressed - embarassing!

engles why not go for a little walk? That always puts me in a better mood or a short nap?

Can anyone help with a question? I've just had a phone call to say that our windows are ready (having double glazing installed) and due to a cancellation they can do it this Wednesday! But should I take the blinds and curtains down? I need to do quite a lot of cleaning upstairs to spare my blushes and DH needs to do quite a bit as well moving things to the loft.

Sootball · 15/09/2014 14:10

Epic X post re the tax bill!

AliceDoesntLiveHereAnymore · 15/09/2014 14:13

I would - can anyone actually see inside your windows if they're upstairs? (unless there's a plethora of flying people in your neck of the woods Grin)

If you're too worried about it, maybe take down the blinds today and that will only leave the curtains to take down tomorrow?

MagratsHair · 15/09/2014 14:28

I signed up to flylady yesterday yes & I have had about 50 emails selling shit so far

So...my sink is shiny, then I come onto the website to see what day 2 is & the instructions are to get dressed & email her. Seriously do I have to email her? What difference does it make? If I don't email her will I lose the next day's babystep?

:)

Vivacia · 15/09/2014 17:12

Magrats I'm not sure, but I doubt it.

pushmepullyou · 15/09/2014 17:44

Hi Magrats Smile I would strongly recommend unsubscribing and joining us instead - our thread leader - engels this month, posts the baby steps and relevant links every day, thus saving us all from flylady email hell!

Babystep number 16 is to read some testimonials and daily musings on the Flylady website.

Here is Tuesday’s flight plan.

Ta Da
Dressed to socks
Phone Sainsbury's
Cancel dinner booking
Drop off parcel
Cleared living room table
Advertised for jumperoo

To Do
Daily mission
Declutter
Bedtime routine
Post letters
Book train ticket

CallingAllEngels · 15/09/2014 19:02

Ta da
useless GP appt
made new appt for first injection
Folded and put away yesterday’s washing
1 wash done today
Chx pie for dinner
Hour in the garden attacking horrible creeper
Before bed routine part 1 (washing-up, made lunch, DS nursery bag, swept kitchen floor, wiped kitchen surfaces)

To do
Before bed part 2 (outfit for tomorrow, cleanse /mois face).

Welcome magrats - yep I would unsubscribe from the emails, not email her and just follow the babysteps on the thread. Don’t stress about the missions and so on, just babysteps is fine (though some of them are naff).

Sorry I didn’t make it back today. Yes toffee B12 is definitely linked to mood as well as energy levels. I feel so frustrated that I’ve been saying I feel awful since July but was put down first to low bp (still low, but not as drastic) which I was basically told to put up with and “take it easy” (very easy to do when you have a toddler Hmm ). And then because my iron wasn’t drastically low it’s taken this long to get a blood test to show the low B12. GP rang back pretty quickly so I could then make an appt with the assistant for a shot which they can’t do until bloody Friday, so 3 weeks on from my last mw appt. Will have to go back every 3 days for 30 days.

Can’t believe how up and down I am. Was on my knees 2 weeks ago but last week was fine and then today I’ve been annoyed all day and unable to relax. My lovely mum and dad took DS out this afternoon but I felt so agitated I couldn’t really relax.

Going to try and take it easy the next few days. Not seeing my parents again till Thursday as we’re both working, but my teaching schedule is pretty light so I may come home earlier than usual instead of planning and have a sneaky sleep while DS is at nursery.

AliceDoesntLiveHereAnymore · 15/09/2014 19:50

Engels I can't believe they haven't been on top of that better. Your midwife and GP should be coordinating better. I always am anaemic when I'm pregnant - every single time - so with my last pregnancy, they were checking it and keeping on top of it all (probably didn't help that I was on crutches with SPD and had GD as well, plus dealing with a hyperactive toddler). No wonder I got so many grey hairs. Hmm

NickNacks · 15/09/2014 20:12

I've pm'd you Toffee

pushmepullyou · 15/09/2014 20:42

3 more things (for when bedtime's finished)
Finish online shop
Label at least 5 items of clothes
Read evening routine and do it!

BitchyTakesOnManagement · 15/09/2014 21:09

Hang in there PMPY

Engels glad that you are getting the shots even if it is belatedly. You have reminded me to pick up a new supply of vits as i am low again.

Whoknows that system sounds interesting. I would be horrified to do it but I do know there is a lot of duplication in the house as a result of it being a merging of households. Hopefully it will be split in the next few years but will see.

Not sure who asked. Today has been long, with parenting aspie challenges and I really do need my bed. Plus it has become aparant that I really do need to have some very very very strong words with ds' dad Doubt it will make much different though.

Rest day tomo so I want to get a lot of crafting down. That is the plan anyway, so we will see. Just waiting to put the laundry on to dry before heading to bed, rather essential as i refuse to send ds to school comando when it is a pe day. He can't seem to understand the fuss boys! Grin

Sootball · 15/09/2014 23:16

Engels it sounds as if the pregnancy hormone roller coaster ans the B12 deficiency are combining to give you a rough ride. How many weeks are you now? I remember hitting a real low with both mine about half way through.

Today was epic I was so organised I almost frightened myself. Particularly when driven by the thought of random strangers fitting windows from the inside of my house and the chaos they would encounter. I bribed the DC to play while I attacked the piles of baby clothes and listed bundles for sale, having tidied I can clean tomorrow evening. I never knew though that dusting is so silent, can be done while children settle for bed! Result!

Today's highlights include;
Bleaching both kitchen sinks and the washing up bowl
Hoovering downstairs
Emptying both bins
Doing a mega throw away session from upstairs 27+ items
Washing on and then hung out
Airing cupboard sorted and emptied

After DH got home we collapsed the moses basket and stand, sorted ALL the piles of clothes in our room and both DC rooms, plus I checked under all the beds for stray clothing, then DH dealt with bath time while I packed nursery bags and laid out clothes for the week. Also emptied the bathroom bins and cleared down shelves and cabinets of any empty bottles or out of date medicine.

After DC in bed cooked dinner, washed up, put everything away and did packed lunches for all four of us tomorrow.

Tomorrow after DH gets in I can do some mad cleaning as me and the DC are out all day with preschool in the morning then a picnic at the park followed by an after school meet up with some of dd1s friends who started school this year.

G'night everyone - sweet pain free and hen party free dreams Grin

CallingAllEngels · 16/09/2014 06:17

Aaargh! Have just seen a massive spider in the bathroom which scarpered before I could nab it. Not sure if it was worse or not as bad not having my glasses on!

Thanks for all the good wishes. Am 25 weeks now sootball - 5 weeks till half term, then another 5 weeks after. Can't come quickly enough!

DS is making me laugh by saying, "I'm a tapir." And stuffing apple in his mouth.

AliceDoesntLiveHereAnymore · 16/09/2014 07:50

Busy day today. Trying to decide if I want to pop into town later and pick up (of all things) a ceramic pumpkin for Halloween from Poundland. We've always had one, but it was accidentally broken a few weeks ago while cleaning out the dining room sideboard. The boys were very upset and I promised them I'd replace it, as it was kind of a "tradition" to light it every evening that we could in October (tealights in it). Since there's a very similar one in Poundland, I want to get it while they still have it (and only pay a pound rather than more somewhere else!).

We all know I won't go into Poundland and come out with just one item though. Hmm

BitchyTakesOnManagement · 16/09/2014 08:33

Ds just walked face first into the front door. Being the bad mum that I am i wasn't sure whether to be sarcastic of give sympathy Blush He is fine btw (well if you don't count the fact he is covered in bandages from last night's adventures...)

pushmepullyou · 16/09/2014 11:06

Oops Bitchy My DS is similarly clumsy. Was reading a thread on here about torso bruising and how it is used as an indicator of possible abuse as the torso doesn't tend to be bruised accidentally. In the past three days DS has taken a flying leap on off the sofa onto the Sylvanian Family camper van (big square bruise on rib cage), walked into the corner of a low table (traingular shaped bruise on stomach and associated cut) and been bowled over backwards by his sister on to his imaginext bat cave (long linear bruise on lower back) Hmm. Felt decidedly shifty dropping him off at nursery this morning!

Right I have an hour to go before I have to go to the gym so I'm going to put a bit more detail into my list.

Ta da
