wish mine were old enough to pack off to school. cleaning here can only be done at night when dds not around to trash the place and i'm rarely in the mood to bother!

Mercy · 02/09/2006 17:03

Same here - even dh made a few comments about the state of the house the other day, he hardly ever notices mess or dirt (probably cos half of it's his)

ds has pretty much given up his nap, so god knows when I'll get the chance to give the place a good sort out

MamaG · 02/09/2006 17:05

My house is of course perfect whether the kids are at school or not Halo

Me too - I'm waiting till they've gone back to have the carpets cleaned and today dh and I had a big discussion about whether or not to just get wooden flooring throughout hall, playroom, morning room, kitchen as the carpets are just disgusting in the playroom and morning room.

Gobbledigook · 02/09/2006 22:57

ANd I can't wait till they go back to school/nursery so I can spend a morning totally turning over the playroom and binning crap and bagging old toys in preparation for Xmas.

harpsichordcarrier · 02/09/2006 23:03

I was deeply ashamed today when I had to search for a lost dice from snakes and ladders and my MIL lifted up the sofa cushions and stuck her hand under the sofa and moved the sofa away from the wall

notasheep · 02/09/2006 23:19

Anthea we need you

MamaG · 03/09/2006 07:27

I can't believe I just got punched!

oxocube · 03/09/2006 08:01

Harpsy, I know that one!! Its soooo gross . Although should say that I have spent the last week cleaning, sorting out, throwing about 10 black bags of stuff in the tip, so am feeling virtuous (smug emoticon!!) Now just need to find 3 gym kits, 2 reading folders and 3 lunch boxes which have managed to evade me so far - wonder where they could have hidden?

theunknownrebelbang · 03/09/2006 08:14

Same here.

Was going to make a start this weekend as middle one at cubcamp and the other two were missing for large parts of the days...but I got sucked into cubcamp and, as ever, nothing's been done.

Only problem with the lads going back to school is that I'll be back at work.

Only one answer - DH will have to do it!

LIZS · 03/09/2006 08:22

Know what you mean. This last week - post dd's bday - has somehow been the worst and downstairs is just so overwhelmed with plastic, puzzles, paper. Kitchen cupboards are pretty bare too. Guess how I will spend Thursday !

earlgrey · 03/09/2006 08:25

God, oxocube, I know that one! Where did all their school stuff go? Must find it today.

We were away for two weeks and my mum came up and stayed here to look after our dog. She completely blitzed the place and I couldn't recognise it when we got back on Friday. Within two days it now looks like the tip it has been for the last six weeks .... It doesn't help that dds won't tolerate the sound of the hoover - I know I should be more of a 'well that's too bad' sort of person, but I've always pandered to that particular one. It suits me quite well

schneebly · 03/09/2006 08:29

I am thinking about hiring a skip and just empting the contents of my house into it - there is soooo much crap!

ocd · 03/09/2006 09:23

Ha! Have found 3 lunch boxes, 1 reading folder, 1 gym kit and an ballet shoe. Where is the rest? Must add footie boots to the list.

Gobbledigook · 03/09/2006 09:31

oh God yes, must locate and make sure labelled lunchbox, water bottle, gym kit, coat.

NomDePlume · 03/09/2006 09:35

Mine is looking good atm, I'm too anal to let it go too far .

I have got to do the dreaded labelling for all 3 kids at some point soon. DS1 & 2 both go back to school on Tues, DD on Weds. Best get a wriggle on... Also got to pop into town and collect 2 school sweatshirts I ordered last week but they didn't have the right size in

ocd · 03/09/2006 21:38

i htink i may have to punch oyu too

nutcracker · 03/09/2006 21:44

I have given up. I attempted a quick tidy up after they went to bed tonight but after 10 minutes it looked no better, the piles were just in different places.

Their rooms are quite tidy but thats cos all the crap is down here.

Surfermum · 03/09/2006 21:46

I'm about to start a massive declutter and then thorough clean. There's 3 years' worth as when the HV told us the dusting and tidying could wait, I didn't need telling twice! I've been itching to get started for ages now and can finally get going on Tuesday as Dd starts a full day at pre-school.

sheepgomeep · 04/09/2006 09:31

i'm going to do bugger all on tuesday when the kids go back and make a start on wednesday instead.

I have crap everywhere. I pulled 4 full carrier bags of rubbish from the car yesterday not to mention 6 coats, countless books, half a recycle crate of pop cans, water bottles (courtesy of dp)
I might as well have driven the car to the skip and left it there.

ocd · 04/09/2006 09:39
