mummyhill · 25/08/2006 10:41

Done my load for the day cause a load a day keeps depression away!!!!!

trinityrhino · 25/08/2006 10:42

that makes sense mummyhill

trinityrhino · 25/08/2006 10:47

well someone say something about my bedroom or is it that bad that you've all fainted

and I know that it all just needs tidying but the problem is it; slike this all the time, if I tidy it takes about 1/2 a day to end up like this again there is something wring with me

mummyhill · 25/08/2006 10:49

Ohh hun I wish my house were more like yours it would'nt take long to get it ship shape. I haven't got a digi cam atm so cannot reassure you by showing you the depth of my slatternliness(sp) Take it one room at a time. Start following the flylady steps and go through the house a zone at a time don't feel you are behind and try to catch up jump in where they are atm. Your house is no where near as untidy as mine was and I got it to a stage where Social services signed it off after 4 weeks It is still far from perfect but I am taking 1 room at a time in bursts of 15 mins. 1 day at a time and trying to get into a routine with flylady to help.

mummyhill · 25/08/2006 10:51

Make a habit of putting it away/in the bin/laundry when you have finished with it. Sort out the clutter get rid of stuff you do not need/use. I have post its stuck to the walls in the kitchen reminding me to shine the sink, put stuff in the dishwasher or hand wash it. A note on my washing machine reminds me that a load a day etc. A note on the bathroom mirror to tell me to get dressed, brush teeth, put on makeup, fix hair and put on shoes cause looking good = feeling good.

If I can keep it all up for a month it will become second nature and the post its can come down to be replaced by the next lot of skills to relearn. It;'s all about re-educating yourself. Do it for 30 days and it becomes a habit.

Flamey · 25/08/2006 10:55

I'll go photo my bedroom... and then the laundry room (I think some families refer to this place as the dining room...)

damewashalot · 25/08/2006 10:58

My bedroom isn't like that as there's not much floor all tops of things have piles of stuff and trust me compared with my little bedroom it's fine you'll get there and I'm hoping I might too emptied/filled dishwasher, set timer for 5 mins and got boys to help

JessaJam · 25/08/2006 10:59

Is it in any way possible to FLY while working full time? Or shall I just step away now?

damewashalot · 25/08/2006 10:59

I have so much washing as I have stopped doing it due too so much ironing which is piled everywhere

mummyhill · 25/08/2006 11:02

Of course you can fly whilst working. Each task takes approx 15 mins and you feel so much better when it's done

JessaJam · 25/08/2006 11:04

15 minutes...how many tasks do I need to do each day?

trinityrhino · 25/08/2006 11:14

jessajam it really able to be fitted into anyones life, it's all about babaysteps so you don't do hours a day
check out the website \link{http://www.flylady.com/it really is good}

mummyhill · 25/08/2006 11:14

from what I can tell they set you one a day.

There is a link at the bottom of this thread to the FLYLadt website have a look and see if you think it will help you.

trinityrhino · 25/08/2006 11:14

shit try agin
try it, it's fun

JessaJam · 25/08/2006 11:29

ok I've joined, and have the babysteps thing... but am still dubious, as those "tasks" seem to accumulate over time...

trinityrhino · 25/08/2006 11:37

but some of them only take 2 mins, you'll be fine, remember don't try and do them all at the start

mummyhill · 25/08/2006 11:38

Yeah but it is all about establishing a good easy routine.

Flamey · 25/08/2006 11:40

Photos still uploading... not forgotten you

Cappuccino · 25/08/2006 11:42

jessajam hello

you are my new friend remember

I don't work full time but I do work part-time and I'm finding with this I'm doing less housework than before but making more of a difference, iyswim

before I was obsessed with three or four jobs which took an hour each and no-one noticed; meanwhile everything else went to pot

welcome (and try to ignore the mad Americanisms)

trinityrhino · 25/08/2006 11:43

oh good flamey

have been to the flylady website and got a FAB idea for helping dd1 to learn to keep her room tidy ish
she can have her own little 5 mins a day things to do in her room
like pick up and put away her soft toys one day
then her blocks and lego the next day
then check for rubbish another day
wil stop me ending up trying to do it all once a month when it looks like a bomb has gone off
sh'es 6 btw so she can read and has looked at the site with me before and like flylady

mummyhill · 25/08/2006 11:48

I am having a break from flying till 1.30 when dd goes to mil's for the afternoon leaving me with a sleeping baby so I can go do my jobs.

Flamey · 25/08/2006 11:49

I agree - Once it is all finished and you are on top of it, I shouldn't take long.
