Sorry...my Dh hijacked the PC!!!

FLYlady cruise eh?!
Sounds interesting!!!!!

I think I'll get withdrawel symptoms if I can't get back here until Monday.
I'm not so worried about the emails as the messages on here.......will I be able to catch up with the next 600+ posts until Monday???!!!!!

domestickler · 23/08/2006 22:56

Ok.....

Challenge for you all

If someone knocked on your day first thing tomorrow would you be embarassed to let them in?

What has improved since you started?

tortoise · 23/08/2006 22:58

Ummm
Front room-yes.
Kitchen-No
Bathroom/upstairs loo -No.
My room-yes
Boys room-no
Girls room-No.
Normally it would be yes for all!

tortoise · 23/08/2006 22:59

Yes=embarressed!

domestickler · 24/08/2006 08:43

Mine are, right now

Kitchen: hmmm could be cleaner, need to hoover and clean floor but it is clutter free and shink shiny
Living Room: No
Bathroom : No (swish and swipe )
DDs room: No
DSs room: No
Our room: No
Playroom YES!!!

must sort playroom!

the biggest change for me is how clean and tidy upstairs is. the bedrooms and hall used to get terrible because I was so busy struggling to keep downstairs ok.

Todays mission is to clean the lightswitch and doorknob in the bedroom. Really well.

Cappuccino · 24/08/2006 09:04

so it all went potshaped last night

the dd's undid everything that I did and I ended up shrieking 'can't I just put my washing out for christs sake' at them

probably the neighbourhood heard

so last night I rebelled by staying up late and not shining my sink

which is going to help me how, exactly?

so I'm at work now, tired and cross

with a sink full of crap waiting for me

(mind you dh was lovely - when I was at my Body Balance class last night he did the 15 mins in the bedroom )

Cappuccino · 24/08/2006 09:13

oh sorry didn't answer the question - anyone can come anywhere in my house, I'm not worried

if they don't like it they can go home and not come back

and I always have nice coffee

Good morning.

I'm at work today but did leave the house with a shiny sink. My Mum and 2 DDs are there though so I don't expect to go home to one!

Still on baby step day 6 so will be getting to grips with a hot spot tonight.

I'm also hoping my mum dusts the living room or does some ironing. I'm sure she will do one or the other so I'll have to see.

She is very helpful and very motivational as she never sits still - before flylady I used to ring her up to come by my house to make me get on with my jobs.

Cappuccino · 24/08/2006 10:24

ruby is your mil the white gloves type? will she be checking for dust?

AmandaP · 24/08/2006 12:25

do you know? My MiL did that when we first got married - she ran her finger on the leaves of a house plant. I mean - honestly - who dusts their houseplants??? (I got rid of the houseplants fairly quickly after that and MiL has never been too keen on coming to see us since - a double bonus!!)

All's well today - shiny sink etc but I'm not sure what today's 'challenges' are. I'll have to look at my emails in a mo. Have just spent the morning at the stables.

Re visitors to my house - well, upstairs is utterly stunning - beautifully clean and tidy (even the kids rooms aren't too bad courtesy of Ikea boxes / bins / bags for toys, dirty clothes etc). Downstairs is slightly less impressive - chaos in the sitting room, marginally less chaos in the dining room, downstairs loo full of muddy boots and dirty dog towels, but the kitchen is shiny! So if visitors could either be helicoptered in through a bedroom window, or else visit the kitchen and then be teleported upstairs bypassing all other downstairs rooms, they might think I'm not bad at this housework lark!!

tortoise · 24/08/2006 13:55

Hellooooooo FLYers.

Been to town and the park this morning so no fLYing!

Hope to get some work done in my room this afternoon.
Hope everyones ok today.

shazronnie · 24/08/2006 15:09

This is why Flylady is great...

Today was Dh day off, so I had a lie in until 9am, then went to the hairdresser at 1030. DH and DC met me for lunch and I had a couple of glasses of wine.

We got back about 230.

Now, normally, I would think "oh look at all this mess I've got loads to do, shouldn't have spent all morning swanning about." But today I came back, and the house is perfectly tidy enough, so I can have a coffee and sit down!

As for domestickler's question - as long as you shut the door on the kids rooms, my house looks absolutely fine!

I haven't cleaned my bedroom light switch or door knob yet though!

DontlookatmeImshy · 24/08/2006 15:54

It's all going a bit wobbly here.
No I wouldn't be able to let anyone in (unless they shut their eyes and went straight to the kitchen and only looked at the sink corner. That I'm still quite proud of.

Despite my good start yesterday I haven't checked any emails or the baby steps daily instruction. Having a motivation crisis. Argh

damewashalot · 24/08/2006 16:02

Well my sink is shiny still Kitchen is not bad, had my boys rushing around helping find 27 things to throw away which they thought was great, then they did 5 mins each on the living room, the playroom and their bedroom while I fed the baby Flying works great when you have willing slaves

Only on day 3 so not really into it yet but I have cleaned the bathroom ready to start swish and swiping or whatever she calls it

damewashalot · 24/08/2006 16:03

Oh does my lack of shoes really matter?

I don't do shoes

shazronnie · 24/08/2006 16:58

I say TRY WEARING SHOES it puts me in a "let's get down to business" mood!

OP posts:
shazronnie · 24/08/2006 17:00

Dontlookatmeimshy - you are doing fine - it all starts with a shiny sink - you cannot achieve a company ready home straightaway. Keep doing babysteps, and kelly's missions if you have time, and 15 mins here and there.

Try to do the weekly blessing on Mondays because that really helps give the house a quick blitz.

OP posts:
popsycal · 24/08/2006 17:21

well i have put off posting for fear of jinxing myself....but the following events have persuaded me that I really AM part of the cult.....

my sink has been shiny for AGES
i fill my dishwasher without realising
I swish and swipe without realising
i leave post it notes for dh to put things away
I have managed to persuade dh that the last one out of bed makes it
I found myself shining my mam's sink today
likewise wiping down her bin

oh and i reorganised my pan cupboard and cleared out my bag - I am reknonwed for having a mary poppins bag so this is a MAJOR event!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

tortoise · 24/08/2006 17:21

I had a nice package arrive this morning!
My own sink shining cloth thanks to shaz!
Thank you soo much.I will get payment out to you as soon as poss.
I got so excited to get a card with tortoise on that i opened it too quick and managed to slice my finger on it!!
I Love the flying tortoise pic.

popsycal · 24/08/2006 17:21

but i dont do shoes
ever

tortoise · 24/08/2006 17:26

Oh and ive got shoes on this afternoon but just can't get motivated(again!).
Think its partly because i saw my niece in the park but she doesn't know who i am.My younger brother(her dad) hasn't seen her for about a year.He said his xp stopped him but then he moved to Turkey with my parents so can't even try to see her.She is a little older than my DD1.I was trying to sneak photo's on my mob but they didn't come out very well!
Oops! That ended up a bit of a rant!!

I need something to motivate me.I see the mess but guess I just don't know how to attack it as no-where to put anything!

popsycal · 24/08/2006 17:30

tortoise
come back here after 7..i need to do my ;weekly blessing' thingy before we gi away for the weekeend and need motivation- could set timers together

tortoise · 24/08/2006 17:34

Ok.Girls go to bed about 7 so will be just after.
I have just tidied the front room floor but mainly it toys chucked in the corner and floor hoovered!!
Least the sink stays shiny and im keeping up with filling and emptying the dishwasher.
