right, well i am writing a book. i have an 18 month old little monster who wreaks havoc and destroys everything in his path. i am a full time mum and my dp works full time. my house always seems a mess. the kitchen-dining room is the hub of the house so the messiest mostly. i dont even have a dishwasher! the living room looks like an explosion in a toy factory. the bedrooms arnt too bad thankfully. and there always seems like a mountain of washing to do! (also no dryer!) how can i organise myself to clean the house, keep it clean and write my book. ds sleeps for about 1 - 2 hours a day and goes to bed at around 8pm. do i have to wake up at 6am before everyone else to tidy/write? any tips or advice??

no seriously, I have no idea! Your 18mo sounds just like my 2yo, plus I have a baby and an older DD.

OTOH I DO have a dishwasher and a dryer

...and if my kids were all asleep by 8pm I woudl sit down with Dh and have a drink ect , not clean the house!!!! I'm impressed that you are trying to write a book.

Oh and welcome to mumsnet

stop trying to lead this poor new girl astray! she has a book to write - no time to polish her sink [bah]

OOOH that looks a bit like fun. the next thing you know i'll be one of those smug women with show homes and no clutter at all and ds will learn to mop before he's learnt to ride a trike! lol

Get a dishwasher!
I didn't have a dishwasher for 6wks when we moved house, it was hell! Hats off to those who cope. I got my folks to buy me a 2nd hand one for my 30th and life is much more manageable. Asking DH to finish loading it at night gets a much better response than asking him to do a sinkful of washing up.
Plus I can hide all the dirty stuff in it when anyone comes round.
Plus the 16L or so of water it uses per wash is less than half the 3 sinkfuls-a-day alternative.

Can you try and get your toddler to bed any earlier? My two are now primed with the CBeebies bedtime hour and in bed at 7pm on the dot.
