Buddha - my link to Colour Run was for last year, can't find much info for this year yet though have found Colour5k.
Zombie Run sounds mad (watched Hunger Games last night and might still be a little freaked out)
I need to spend some time searching as I want a few races lined up.

Definitely recommend Couch25k, that's what got me started when DS broke his leg and I needed some headspace. I HATED distance running at school and always thought I couldn't do it but 4 weeks into the programme I realised I was enjoying it and I haven't looked back :)
Just make sure you get some decent shoes quite early on - give it a few weeks to see if running really is for you then get to a running shop to get your gait analysed which will let you know what sort of shoes you need.

Def go for it Dizzy, you will be able to feel very smug when you get to 5k - it's a great feeling. Endorphins have a LOT to recommend them (and are pretty addictive as Bitchy says :)) My DH has never been persuaded to join me in any training but makes a useful coat-holder/drinks provider/rucksack full of goodies to scoff holder when he does come along :)

STILL need to do some work...

feetheart · 30/12/2013 12:35

Ellie - I'm an early morning runner too, especially early Spring/Autumn mornings with the sun just coming up :) I do run in the dark though but have to stick to boring urban routes and not the fields and lanes that I much prefer. I am going to try the local running club at some point but they meet in the evening and by then I'm just not interested!
Colour 5k in Northampton looks doable for DS and I, especially as I think DH and DD are away that w/e.
Am eyeing up the Cambridge half marathon as well.

MerryBuddha · 30/12/2013 12:36

Feet I found this one

feetheart · 30/12/2013 12:37

Poo, Cambridge sold out :(

MerryBuddha · 30/12/2013 12:37

Could do Brighton on the train. Not sure what train operator would think of us on way home though :)

EustaciaVye · 30/12/2013 12:47

You all talk too much Grin

silly - dont be too hard on yourself about being overweight. I am too. Need to lose 2 stone. Maybe we can add some good health habits to the thread?

I am so stressed at the moment. Have lots of guests this weekend, the house is a tip, and have a party at the weekend and I am starting to doubt my outfit. Seeing some v old friends and much heavier than I once was.....

On a positive note morning routine is done.

feetheart · 30/12/2013 12:49

Eustacia - yes but we don't talk much about housework :)

feetheart · 30/12/2013 12:54

Or do any work - waaaaaaaaaaaahhhhhh!
I now have to feed children...

MerryBuddha · 30/12/2013 12:56

Oh Feet I have just book the Northampton one to do with Ds2 & 3. Come and join us!

MerryBuddha · 30/12/2013 12:57

Yes, back to the housework now... (sad)

elliepac · 30/12/2013 14:02

I have progress.

Ta da:-
One small load of washing

To do:-
Nearly fucking everythingGrin.

Another one who would recommend C25k. If you had told me when I started it that I would be able to run for 25 mins none stop I would have laughed in your face. But I did. Never quite managed 5k though so that is my goal come springtime.

feet a guy at work keeps trying to get me to join our local running club but, like you, I am crap in the evenings. Much prefer first thing in the morning. Once I get home, I am
unlikely to go out again!

elliepac · 30/12/2013 14:03

eustacia i suspect if we counted up all the posts that were about flying, they would make a rather small percentageGrin. That's why I am still on this thread after nearly 4 and a half yearsGrin.

feetheart · 30/12/2013 14:21

Buddha - need to check with DH first and he is inconsiderately at work. I'm pretty sure that he and DD are going to the Ukelele Festival of Great Britian that w/e so it would be perfect for DS and I :)

Still haven't done any work, or any housework. Am writing a shopping list though and once DD's friend goes we will venture to Asda for a few bits.

WhispersOfWickedness · 30/12/2013 14:31

Hi all Smile

Thanks for the welcomes Smile

Ellie - I am in lincolnshire too! In the wolds Smile

Been out this morning, have just hoovered and steam mopped the dining part of the kitchen diner. Hadn't done under the cats food mat in a while, that was pretty disgusting Blush
I'm having a rest now while I wait for the dishwasher to be done as the surfaces of the kitchen need doing before I do the floor but they are currently full of the next load to go in the dishwasher. DH is making unhappy noises about taking the DC out tomorrow now as nothing will be open Sad I'm sure that he will end up going to his parent's Hmm

elliepac · 30/12/2013 14:35

I am in the slightly less pretty northern half of Lincolnshire.
whispers.

JustGettingOnWithIt · 30/12/2013 15:31

Can't believe this, woke up at 5 for about half an hour and have only just woken up again! Blush Meantime half the thread is planning marathons and triathalons! Am taking the attitude that clearly my body needs the rest but I wish it would start acting like it had had one. Staying in naughty corner.

BitchytheGreat · 30/12/2013 15:42

And quite right too just you have been throw a lot this year physically and mentally. Let it rest if it needs it. I know I have no intention of being awake to see 1pm tomo. 2pm with be enough time to push a hoover around and finish the tidying.

If the thread have just been about lists and housework it would have folded years ago. It is the chit chat which keeps the motivation up imo.

Child is with his dad, i have politely called his dad a twat and to get a grip, lunch has been eaten, new years plans have been made. Now for shower, change of clothes and training...

elliepac · 30/12/2013 15:44

I agree with bitchy just. You concentrate on what your body tells you it needs to do which is restSmile.

WhoKnowsWhereTheMistletoes · 30/12/2013 15:58

Silly - some friends of mine attempted a 100km in a weekend walk this year, they are very fit runners but only had a couple of months to train for the walk (they took it very seriously). They managed 78km, which was brilliant.

I did C25K about 3 years ago and did enjoy it, but have given up since suffering an injury. I am probably OK to jog again, but will never run more than 5km now and even that is not advisable on a regular basis (ok if I go slow, try and stick to soft ground, keep it low impact). I am also abut 3 stone overweight. I did MFP for a few months last year but got out of the habit mid year and put all the weight back on Blush.

Been out 10 pin bowling and for lunch today, which was good fun. Also booked DS's birthday party there for next month. DD's is at the end of next week, so I have overlapping arrangements, it's much easier the years they agree to share.

Flying wise, did quite a bit of tidying before going out, now need to go and restore order to the spare room, one of the cats has been sleeping on the spare bed and it is all hairy [yuck]. I'd really rather they stayed out of the bedrooms, but there isn't really anywhere they can use as a bolt hole downstairs. I'm not really feeling the love for them at the moment, discovered this morning that one of them has been using my favourite pot plant as a toilet (wee only thank goodness).

EustaciaVye · 30/12/2013 16:38

I meant you talk to much and I cant keep up Grin

My house resembles a car boot sale as DH has decided to bring in SIX boxes from the garage and look at old photos and stuff Hmm

Blueandwhitelover · 30/12/2013 17:11

marking place to pop back later

CallingAllEngels · 30/12/2013 17:54

Cba-itis here.

have been munching quality street and doritos. Dh made a lamb curry for dinner, followed by the rest of the tiramasu. Ds is already in bed. Have managed 3 episodes of doctor who (watched the Titanic one...Kylie was awful!).

now browsing kindle sale and not doing anything too taxing.

WhispersOfWickedness · 30/12/2013 18:06

I finished the kitchen Grin DH is currently undoing all my hard work by cooking in it Hmm
Was a bit horrified as the steam mop is new, I used one pad just for the kitchen floor which really didn't look very dirty (I Hoover first) but the pad was disgusting when I'd finished!

So, tomorrow I'm going to spend an hour in each room, will make my plan tonight and write my list on here tomorrow morning Smile
