If we ever go away overnight, or on holiday, I find myself tidying up the house, not just because it's much nicer to come back to a tidy house, but I find myself thinking about what would happen if we had a terrible accident and never came back. How embarrassed I'd be to think of police/relatives having to look round our messy house. So WTF am I thinking that for (if I'm not coming back, I'm not going to be able to be embarrassed), and am I alone in my morbid thoughts?

I'm like that even when i'm in the house. I think what would happen if someone broke in, or worse, and then I think of the police coming round to take photos and them being all over the news......

poisson · 14/07/2006 13:40

this should probably be another thread on it's own ,but do you use a loo brush,or use your hands...bleurgh!

Hate thst loo brush gets all manky and stained, but don't want to pay a small fortune for those disposable duck thingys'

iamapieceofcheesecake · 14/07/2006 13:49

I just coat the whole thing in bleach and then flush next time I go to the loo. Hey presto, no mess!!

poisson · 14/07/2006 13:49

themoon66 · 14/07/2006 13:50

JanH · 14/07/2006 13:51

A friend's ILs' house was burgled when they were on holiday and it was the friend the police contacted about it; they said, very sympathetically, "the place has been completely turned over" and my friend was forced to tell them it always looked like that

brimfull · 14/07/2006 13:51

well I mean with gloves on and scrub it like ladees on how clean is your house!

JanH - that'a exactly what I'm scared of. Or bereaved relatives having to sort out DD's manky knickers that she's left in a heap on the floor of her bedroom.

God I hate cleaning. Especially when the weather is lovely and its a crime to be indoors.

Enid · 14/07/2006 13:54

clean kitchen surfaces

and loos at least flushed (this doesnt always happen with a 3.5 year old)

brimfull · 14/07/2006 13:55

dd's room looks like the burglars have just left.

themoon66 · 14/07/2006 13:56

DS's room looks like the burglers went through it and decided there was nothing worth taking.

foxinsocks · 14/07/2006 13:56

you lot are obsessed - until I read this thread I had never given a thought to this at all

in fact, it would probably take me a couple of hours to even realise our house had been burgled
