Roll up, roll up to this special birthday month for the fledglings...

We are going to attempt to keep the dc happy, whilst flying. No mean feat in the month of holidays and adventures.

Rule 1. yes even in a birthday month we have rules
It is not about perfection. A little is enough, no really.
Rule 2.
You are aloud to spend time doing fun things, don't regret them or feel guilty.
Rule 3. This one is a fat fairy rule.
you are never behind, jump in where you are

So newbies if you are reading this you are probably thinking wtf?! This is a wonderful system designed by the fly lady. in days gone olde one fledgling had a dream about the fly lady in which she was a fat fairy, thus the thread nickname fat fairy was born. Just so we don't confuse you like Wink
Anyhows, this month it is Bitchy's turn to lead, and perhaps this should come with a warning. She has her own unique style of leading but don't let that scare you off, the fledglings are luffsly and generally far more sane then the bitchy one Grin just be aware of bitchy's special brew. Terribly high in caffine and can sometimes be found in the naughty corner. Which reminds me, the naughty corner if for those who are struggling for whatever reason or those just in need of a stiff drink.

So this flying thing. It has three stages:
stage one: the babysteps. these build a routine. some of them are contriversial, and some a little wishy washy seem a little less significant. But most are really good.
Stage two: babysteps and missions one the routines are in place the missions are designed to help you tackle tasks room by room. These room by room approach is helpfully referred to as zones.
stage three: the mythical deep cleaning stage yeah lets just ignore that, none of us have got to the point where we have not only decluttered but got in control of the chaos Grin

Oh yeah CHAOS - what the fat fairy calls "Can't Have Anyone Over Syndrome"

That clear as mud? good. Let's Begin....

Morning all!

Hope everyone is ok Smile

Have so much to do this morning don't know where to start Confused

So priorities, going away for a couple of nights - so need to pack for that first.

Get back on Monday and then go on holiday on Tuesday, so need to pack for that, check in online, sort out airport parking and money.

Get back day before DD goes back to school, so need to have everything ready for that.

Ok, so that's my power of three...will just have a Brew first...

We are at my Mum's. DS1 grudgingly came with us and ended up really enjoying the trip and forgetting all about his injury.

SC - I think you are right - it was anxiety that made DS1 so difficult. Luckily, he has had his confidence boosted by the successful journey and I hope he can remember that next time.

Pouring with rain here, so no beach or playground today, but we are all quite enjoying being indoors at the moment. Mum is resting and I am in charge of cooking and clearing up - so a bit like home, really, but somehow without the stress.

Saturn - hope you have a lovely holiday!

BitchytheGreat · 24/08/2013 16:19

Ds is all over the place!!!!
In 15mins i will be making up and cooking pizza. Then the plan is to go out. I am dead woman walking and could happily curl up and sleep. Forgotten about ds and his up 3x nightly approach to life It has been so nice to sleep in one sleep. Also he has been helicopter parented for the last two plus weeks. He is struggling with the more laid back approach here.

Is it bedtime yet?

Toffee - would have waved if I'd known, will do next year when we come back - all enjoyed it so much that we want to come back for longer next year. Glad journey went well and you are settled, have a lovely time even if it is home from home.

ellie - seems like we are shadowing each other. We have the whole choosing a high school for DD scenario as soon as we go back and we are decorating this w/e - I may need hand-holding for both Hmm

Belated HAPPY BIRTHDAY to Zing and Smallellie - all the best people have August birthdays don't you know :)

SC - you mentioned 'low fat supper', more info please. We have had to shift to low fat as DH has been diagnosed with high cholesterol and I am struggling a bit. Lots of veggie stuff so far, mainly of the 'chuck it all in and serve it with pasta' variety but need to get a grip on menu-planning and need new recipes/ideas. All ideas are welcome.

Ta Da

  • Take DS to swimming test so he can go in big pool (new thing, he has been going in for a year quite happily but now under-8s need to do a test and wear a red wristband Hmm) He flew down the full length of the 50m pool, impressing me, the tester and a few random lifeguards and breezed the test :)
  • Drink large hot choc with DS to celebrate/kill time
  • DS to gymnastics
  • Lunch for all
  • Painting - touching up in new hall which DH and DD painted this morning plus painting new shower room. Hall is lovely and calming, shower room is BRIGHT :)
  • Prep for more painting - we are doing new bits plus rest of hall, stairs and landing. Think it is going to take a while and God knows where we will put stuff in the meantime - we currently have a shower door, 2 radiators and a toilet in the living room!!
  • Leftovers dinner
  • DC to bed
  • Collapse

Currently sitting listening the the rather amazing Jake Bugg in concert on BBC3. Bed after he finishes I think.

Night all.

feetheart · 24/08/2013 22:31

Oops, that was a bit of an epic - sorry Blush

WhoKnowsWhereTheTimeGoes · 24/08/2013 23:21

Evening all,

Back in Birmingham tonight (had a lovely day in Glasgow yesterday Goth, and a very easy drive back today). Very proud Aunty moment tonight, we went to see Dneice (9) in a production of Annie in the city centre, she was one of the little orphans, the show was brilliant and so was she.

Toffee - glad DS1 is happy now, we find that so often with DS, he doesn't want to go places then when he gets there he loves it.

Feet - where were you, the Witterings? That's not too far from us either, but the traffic puts us off going too often. Last year we went on the Sun mornng before school went back, got up early and were on the beach at 7.30, had a fabulous day (and a smug feeling watching the traffic trying to get down there when we left at lunch time). Sadly we haven't managed any camping at all this year, but thinking about going for it next weekend in the garden if the weather looks reasonable.

Heading home tomorrow, so will no doubt have lots of unpacking and washing on tomorrows list. Need to get to bed now, it has been a long day. Night all.

Morning all.

So far today is not going to plan. DSIL's were lined up to take the DC's to the coast for the day so i could paint DS's room which is all cleared out and ready to paint.

Unfortunately we have turned into the house of puke and both dc's were sick multiple times throughout the night and still being sick this morning so the trip has had to be cancelled. DSIL was so looking forward to it as she doesn't get to spend lots of time with DC's but they cannot go. We are going to try again tomorrow but other SIL can't go tomorrow as she is at work so i am going instead.

Really need to get painting done today but DH is still asleep as he did second half of puke night from 4 am (it started at 12). We were going to do it together but that seems impossible now.

Aaaaaargh. I hate puke. I can deal with anything but not puke.

Glad you had a good holiday Zing Wink

Ellie Hope the puking bug has stopped now. Poor you!!! As long as you don't catch it too! |Good luck with decorating when you get to it. If you run out of rooms to decorate I have a good few here that could do with it - I can hire them out to you free of charge!

Just had a quick skoot around the downstairs to clear up after DD1's party last night. I have to say I have the house up to an acceptable level and it is so much easier to keep it generally tidy now. Probably far more to do with the fact that there is only 3 of us living here now (will be down to 2 from next weekend) than my wonderful fly-ing efforts!

Now off to catch the boat and have a day of girlie shopping with DD1. Wooohooooo!! I know I am going to feel very poor and at least 30 years older within just a few hours! I have lists from DD2, DD3 and DS for stuff they want/need. DS's = jumper + crispie creme donut! Hmm

have a good Sunday everyone.

ZingWantsCake · 25/08/2013 10:12

thanks Pos

bitchy don't worry, no harm done by you! (I'm an exhibitionist, so stalk away!Grin )

the first few responses made me laugh! it's just typical, you try and improve anything in your life and you get jealous saboteurs giving "advice" and try to bring you down. (not you!)

I will take no notice of any negativity! I hope you will stay on there and kick my butt when I lack motivation!
I'm counting on you!Smile

BitchytheGreat · 25/08/2013 11:28

I have lost my cup of decaff coffee. Not only am i not allowed coffee but it would seem I am not allowed decaff either. It is rather trying around here. Ds is in melt down mode. I have not had enough sleep. More flammable then playing with matches around a can of petrol.
