Roll up, roll up to this special birthday month for the fledglings...

We are going to attempt to keep the dc happy, whilst flying. No mean feat in the month of holidays and adventures.

Rule 1. yes even in a birthday month we have rules
It is not about perfection. A little is enough, no really.
Rule 2.
You are aloud to spend time doing fun things, don't regret them or feel guilty.
Rule 3. This one is a fat fairy rule.
you are never behind, jump in where you are

So newbies if you are reading this you are probably thinking wtf?! This is a wonderful system designed by the fly lady. in days gone olde one fledgling had a dream about the fly lady in which she was a fat fairy, thus the thread nickname fat fairy was born. Just so we don't confuse you like Wink
Anyhows, this month it is Bitchy's turn to lead, and perhaps this should come with a warning. She has her own unique style of leading but don't let that scare you off, the fledglings are luffsly and generally far more sane then the bitchy one Grin just be aware of bitchy's special brew. Terribly high in caffine and can sometimes be found in the naughty corner. Which reminds me, the naughty corner if for those who are struggling for whatever reason or those just in need of a stiff drink.

So this flying thing. It has three stages:
stage one: the babysteps. these build a routine. some of them are contriversial, and some a little wishy washy seem a little less significant. But most are really good.
Stage two: babysteps and missions one the routines are in place the missions are designed to help you tackle tasks room by room. These room by room approach is helpfully referred to as zones.
stage three: the mythical deep cleaning stage yeah lets just ignore that, none of us have got to the point where we have not only decluttered but got in control of the chaos Grin

Oh yeah CHAOS - what the fat fairy calls "Can't Have Anyone Over Syndrome"

That clear as mud? good. Let's Begin....

OK i need some help with sorting some references out. On paper I have references. In practise I don't. Not sure how to fix this. I have given up doing anything with ds. He is refusing to do anything that is not on his schedule/way of thinking and today I don't give a shit I am just going to get on and do stuff to fix my life. He can work around my needs for a change.

Puking has calmed down. DD has perked up no end and DS is sleeping ( which means he is really ill, he never sleeps during the day). DH not feeling well either.

I have managed to get an undercoat on walls but it is going to need another i think. A spiderman red and blue room looked cool when be was 5.

BitchytheGreat · 25/08/2013 13:35

IME, depending on what the top colour is going to be you might need a third undercoat ellie

Angry decluttering. strangely productive.

The peace that comes with pulling toys out of the loft with the view to decluttering them Wink ds is happily building wooden railway/roadway and there is peace. I am taking a break from the actual decluttering that I am doing and going to pick up my hook for the next half hour. Grin

GoingGoingGoth · 25/08/2013 22:58

Evening all, busy-ish day here, we went to The Fringe! Got up and thought why not? We're only a 50 minute train ride away, so we did it.

So we've seen a man juggling knives whilst balancing on to of a ladder, another guy sword swallowing, fire eating and then had a mini bed of boils rested on him with a 20stone man stood on it, and a contortionist. I think DD was impressed.

We also climbed Scott's Monument- 287 steps! Brilliant views of the city.

Done
Morning routines
Hung laundry out
Laundry in
Changed bedding
Laundry on
Aired laundry folded & put away
Vacuumed flat
Ironing -DH
Washing up &SS
School stuff ready for morning
Dd fed, bathed & in bed

Engelsemama · 26/08/2013 08:54

Morninv all. Sorry for going awol last week. Have survived first week back at work but feel insanely stressed already. Have one new class this year that is sucking all my energy and focus.

Managed to clean bathroom, write a few letters, do some bedroom decluttering, catch up on washing, do a kittle but of gardening but feel like everything is o u t of my control right now. DH is off sick (depression, came home early Friday). I seem to lose my balance and motivation when he's home. Have to r ake DS to hospital tommorrow for a polyp he has on his tongue. Will probably have to be removed under GA - I know it's weighing on DH's mind.

Anyway, I need a plan to stop me from sitting on inrerneg all day.

To do
Errands/supermarket (will have to aait until this afternoon, lors of shops cl I sed monday mornings here)
Declutter in lounge and stuff I sorted out in b edroom yesterday
Oytsude fine - do gardening while ds plays
Email copy stuff to reprogeaphics at school

Okay, that's a start.

I deel very guilty for not keeping up with the thread p r operly.

elliepac · 26/08/2013 09:41

Morning allSmile.

Sod all flying going to be done today. Currently en route to the coast with dc's, dsil and dniece for some family fun time. Figured I earned it yesterday. I did put some washing on line and some more in machine before I came out so that counts.

engels sympathies over new class. I have one of those just going into Year 11. They are emotionally and physically draining. It might help to know that eventually when I had spent all my time adjusting lessons, trying new methods etc, they did calm down. They will never be perfect ( think 23/26 middle/low ability boys) but they are manageable now.

Engelsemama · 26/08/2013 10:28

Now I feel Blush ellie since it's an A-level class (equivalent) of less than 15 students! It's just trying to get the syllabus/lesson materials together. I keep doubting myself, partly because it's been so long since I've taught at this level. Guess the prob is I know the rest of my courses backwards.

Have just noticed lots of typos in my last post! Was typing on my tablet and haven't quite mastered it yet (will I ever!).

Ta da
30 mins decluttering lounge hotspot...still not finished!
Done some of online banking finances...finishing it now

Goth, Ed fest sounds great. I went there once nearly 10years ago and had a great time.

Toffee beach hut sounds heavenly. I want to try and get our own little beach going before the summer is over (whihc will involved clearing a "dumping" area of our garden, paving it and finally putting a sand pit there for DS!

Had to post my last post before I was ready as MIL popped round. DH was still in bed and we had a bit of a chat about him. He's just made aGP appt for later in the week and came downstairs clutching one of the books on depression that I bought last year. He's taking steps in the right direction to help himself get better, as he's the only one who can.

On a side note, I haven't spokento MIL regarding the skin comment from last weekend, because we didn't see her all week (I wondered if she knew she'd upset me) and then DH saw her on Thursday when I was working and had a little chat, so hopefully no more skin comments!

Okay, back to organisation and decluttering!

saturn · 26/08/2013 10:32

Toffee - sounds lovely...enjoy Grin

Ellie - well done on decorating through sickness...very impressive!

Bitchy - hope things are better for you today Brew

Engels - hope all goes well with DS tomorrow Smile

I have so much to do don't know where to start (nothing new there then!) started writing a list, but got overwhelmed (what is it with me and lists Confused) so will put it on here as seem to get more done with the accountability... So first will unpack from weekend ...15minutes kitchen, 15 minutes bedroom and 15 minutes sorting washing...

GoingGoingGoth · 26/08/2013 11:26

Engles hope all goes well with DS tomorrow, and that DH feels better soon, mine was off work for months with depression a few years ago, it's hard on the whole family

Hope everyone's enjoying their bank holiday Envy not one up here, but it would be weird as she only went back the other week, and we do get a long weekend in September

Done
Morning routines
Dd to school -still on time!
Trip to Morrisons (big shop Grin taxi back)
Shopping away -assisted by cat, I swear he counted his cans
Laundry hung out

Having 5 30 minutes, before setting to again.

BBL

saturn · 26/08/2013 13:15

Waves to goth

Not going well here...

Did 15 minutes in kitchen, so that's done. Then DD was upset and took her out for ice cream (makes everything better, wish it was so simple for grown ups!) came back and felt completely overwhelmed by everything that needs to be done before going on holiday tomorrow. Sat on floor for a while feeling completely overwhelmed (instead if just getting on with things Hmm. Had some lunch to procrastinate even more. Watched friends on TV...couldn't find a murder she wrote...ate a chocolate cup cake. Now still need to sort bedroom out and sort washing and pack and check in with airline and book transfer, as well as some other things on to do list and some shopping and take rucksack back to friend...

Right will aim to have bedroom and washing done by 2pm...

JustGettingOnWithIt · 26/08/2013 13:25

Am back but seem to have left my brain somewhere. (Possibly eaten by a horse or donkey or left hanging in tatters on a bush somewhere?)
Was met by angry neighbour standing staring at us, but silently at least. How does she always catch us?

I?m not sure I should have stopped; I?m in more pain than normal (or maybe there?s just less distracting me from it?) and can?t get my head round what I should be doing or where to start. I know there?s so much to do and I know there?s so little time to do it in, but my ability to remember what it all is and order any of it, seems to be totally missing.
People seem to be sensing it and appearing from nowhere jumping in reminding me what they?re expecting from me, instead of whatever it is I?m supposed to be doing.
I guess the house smelt this badly of damp when we went, but a week of closed doors and windows has done it no favours and emphasised how much work is still to be done, and everything?s grown like mad in a week and turned into triffid?s, so going for airing, washing and cutting things back and hoping I?ll remember everything else as we go.

Saturn well done on finding somewhere to start. Good luck.

Also impressed at the decorating around being ill Ellie, hope everyone?s feeling a bit better.
Ellie and Engels, good luck with lesson planning and prep. ( After years of practise I can just about manage haphazard planning of a few subjects for 1 and am left in awe at what?s needed to plan several for 15 to 30.)
Engels glad DH is taking some responsibility for his situation; depression?s hard going for all. Good luck for tomorrow.

Bitchy good luck with the de caff, Shock and to both you and zing with the water. (I know I will have to but have yet to find a way of drinking it that doesn?t involve caffeinating or fermenting it)

Goth spent some time trying to work out how a 20 stone man could stand on boils without bursting them, before it dawned on me that I?m brainless! Grin

Toffee that sounds like how life should be lived. Smile

Waves to everyone else and hopes everyone's enjoying the bank holiday.

saturn · 26/08/2013 14:15

Sympathies Just...good luck with the airing, washing and cutting back...maybe your brain is in hiding with my motivation? Grin

45 minutes and still not finished in bedroom, although most of washing sorted...another 45 minutes I reckon should do it. Good job I didn't pack as just realised we only have hand luggage Confused, good job didn't book airport parking which was on list ...as not only already booked, turns out going from a different airport to where I thought we were flying from! I used to be so organised...

15 minute break, another 45 minutes on bedroom and then pack, check in with airline and book transfer...shopping, to do list and rucksack are looking increasingly more unlikely...

Trazzletoes · 26/08/2013 15:06

Hi there, I've been broadly following the thread thus month. Sorry to not have been taking much any part in flying. Life has taken over. And Joe is back in hospital tomorrow for a week minimum so limited flying then.

And then its his birthday party. At our house. Crisis clean ahoy!!!

saturn · 26/08/2013 15:51

Ok, so just wasted half an hour downloading books onto my I-pad...can I really read 14 books in a week? Procrastination again...

GoingGoingGoth · 26/08/2013 18:03

just you're not brainless, I swear I put bed of nails not boils-stupid autocorrect.

saturn yes you can read 14 books, you just won't do anything else Grin

Trazzels good luck for tomorrow with Joe.
