Roll up, roll up to this special birthday month for the fledglings...

We are going to attempt to keep the dc happy, whilst flying. No mean feat in the month of holidays and adventures.

Rule 1. yes even in a birthday month we have rules
It is not about perfection. A little is enough, no really.
Rule 2.
You are aloud to spend time doing fun things, don't regret them or feel guilty.
Rule 3. This one is a fat fairy rule.
you are never behind, jump in where you are

So newbies if you are reading this you are probably thinking wtf?! This is a wonderful system designed by the fly lady. in days gone olde one fledgling had a dream about the fly lady in which she was a fat fairy, thus the thread nickname fat fairy was born. Just so we don't confuse you like Wink
Anyhows, this month it is Bitchy's turn to lead, and perhaps this should come with a warning. She has her own unique style of leading but don't let that scare you off, the fledglings are luffsly and generally far more sane then the bitchy one Grin just be aware of bitchy's special brew. Terribly high in caffine and can sometimes be found in the naughty corner. Which reminds me, the naughty corner if for those who are struggling for whatever reason or those just in need of a stiff drink.

So this flying thing. It has three stages:
stage one: the babysteps. these build a routine. some of them are contriversial, and some a little wishy washy seem a little less significant. But most are really good.
Stage two: babysteps and missions one the routines are in place the missions are designed to help you tackle tasks room by room. These room by room approach is helpfully referred to as zones.
stage three: the mythical deep cleaning stage yeah lets just ignore that, none of us have got to the point where we have not only decluttered but got in control of the chaos Grin

Oh yeah CHAOS - what the fat fairy calls "Can't Have Anyone Over Syndrome"

That clear as mud? good. Let's Begin....

Morning allSmile.

DS party went well. A lovely afternoon with family and friends was had by all and DS was spoilt rotten. Am knackered this morning though.

Today involved a mercy mission DMum was up at the caravan with dsis for a few days but she put her back out whilst there. She is unable to drive homeHmm. So I have to go and meet dsis halfway there to bring Mum home, get her shopping etc. am going to attempt to get order in the house before we go although I was was quite good and cleaned up most party detritus last night and we were outside all evening so inside of house is fairly presentable.

To do:-
Washing - can nearly see bottom of washing basket and want to get a couple of loads through before I go
Putting away
Morning routine
Deposit DS BF back home - lord knows what time they went to sleep last nigh

Happy birthday, Zing - Cake

Van from charity shop should be coming to take away loads of cluttery excess furniture this morning. Yay! Then it's work mode all day.

[Places vat of Brew on the bar to go with the cake]

Ta da
Dryer on (acrylic button not working though, don't know why - is this important?)
Washing on (think I've put too much in, does it matter?)
DD refusing to make card unless I give her chocolate Confused
Dishwasher on
DD has had breakfast
DD lunch prepared
Another argument disagreement with DD over making of card
Text friend
Checked and have money for holiday club trip
Found felt tips for DD to do birthday card (she has drawn a skull and crossbones on Hmm
Packed for DD going to mums except hair brush and toothbrush (not done her hair and teeth yet)
Address on envelope of card (not her best effort, but will have to do - how's that for letting go of perfectionism Flylady!)
Another argument disagreement with DD, this time over getting dressed!
DD dressed to shoes
Dressed to shoes (although skirt planned to wear doesn't fit, hadn't even realised put weight on Sad) including face - hair will have to dry in the car on the way!
DD hair and teeth done and brush and toothbrush packed
Leaving house 20 minutes later than planned - definitely not calm and serene!

To do
Text mum back
Buy 2 cards on the way to work
Post late birthday card

Have spent the morning in local minor-injuries unit as DS1 has hurt his foot jumping off a climbing frame in the playground. Turns out he's torn some ligaments, so he's on painkillers and the nurse has bandaged it up. However, he is now determined not to travel with me today, even though the nurse said he was fine to do so. There will be hardly any walking involved (it's mostly sitting on trains and buses), but he says he won't do it. We have just had a very shouty argument about it Sad. He is so, so self centred - it really saddens me.

His Granny and family are looking forward to seeing him and he can't stay here with DH because DH has work trips to do whilst we're away. Plus DH has a tooth infection and has to get to the dentist for antibiotics. I think he was looking forward to a bit of peace and quiet to nurse his sore tooth in peace.

Why are teenagers so incredibly self-centred? DS1 thinks I am the cruellest mum in the world because I'm insisting he go. I told him I managed to get him and his brother up to school when I tore a ligament in my knee and couldn't put any weight on it, but apparently I know nothing. His needs trump everyone elses.

Ok, rant over.

ToffeeWhirl · 23/08/2013 09:39

Oh, and happy birthday, Zing!

Jdub · 23/08/2013 09:44

Good morning!!
Lovely here! And I'm feeling wide awake after 2 coffees!
After 2 child free evenings, I am off to collect them later and return to a tidy-ish house (for how long?!!!) But it's SO nice, while they are away, not only to go out and have some free time, just me and OH,but also to have a good tidy up!!

Dining room and kitchen need special attention this weekend and my overflowing filing basket! So that's me sorted!
Have a gorgeous wknd xx

ToffeeWhirl · 23/08/2013 10:21

Right, think we are finally going. Why does it all have to be so unnecessarily stressful?

Hope you all have a good week. Bye for now.

BitchytheGreat · 23/08/2013 10:52

Good luck toffee!

Today i am in ds' room. How much of his favourite but too small clothes do you think i can get rid of without him having a majopr melt down?

Waves to WhoKnows hope you enjoy the gardens.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY Zing Cake Thanks

Bitchy I find it's easier to slowly sneak clothes away, a piece every few weeks rather than 1 big splurge, things get lost in the wash

BitchytheGreat · 23/08/2013 14:35

Yeah not an option. Always best to force child to face change. He has to learn to deal with it at some point. Mostly it is underwear that has gone.

I need a ta da list as today is one of those very frustrating days.

ta da
internet stuff
physio x 2
make bed
up and functioning
empty most of the detritus from the car
take out recycling and empty bins
15mins in my room playing hunt the important bits - gave up
print important paperwork off
look at everything that needs to be done next month and want to scream or cry and know important difficult decisions need to be made
clothes cull in ds' room
sort out ds' top wardrobe and normal wardrobe.
pick books up off floor in ds' room and dump in pile for him to sort as those I do not sort!!
eat my own body weight in chocolate
move half the furniture back into the lounge
stitch eyes and eyebrows onto sock monkey face
stitch mouth onto muzzle
1 load of washing
sort out arrangements for collecting ds
find container for all the bent/broken pins and sewing machine needles created recently
sort out the shrapnel ready for bank trip
clear out purse
move all of ds' soft toys to new area of storage
move soft toy storage to same area and get two too meet up

urgh sooo much still left to do before 4pm.

Afternoon my lovelies Smile fabulously sunny day here!

Many happy returns of the day Zing! Flowers Wine Cake Bear

Good luck with clothes sorting Bitchy Wish I could morph in to Flylady just for a day or so - I'd have the boudoir sorted in no time!!

Many congratulations to you and your students Ellie!!! Glad the party went well and hope your ma is ok. Good luck with rescue mission!

Big wing flaps to Whoknows in bonny Scotland Envy!! I hope you are having a lovely time!

Sorry to hear about ds1's foot injury Toffee and that you have had such a stressful departure. I know teenagers are very self-centred (not looking forward to that bit!) but it's probably the anxiety talking too. I know I was horrid on occasions to dh when I had panic attacks - it's like you are in blinkers. Hopefully, he will enjoy it when he gets there!! Hope all goes well and here's some well-deserved Wine for you tonight.

Your child-free time sounded fab Jdub!

Thanks Saturn but not sure I qualify as a "true flyer". Kitchen is clean but cluttered and you'd be horrified if you looked in first floor boudoir/home office!!! Hope your dd has a good time at the holiday club!

Congrats on shedding van-load(s) of clutter Blue!! Thx for much-needed Brew

Hope you survived the pudding party PA

Waves to feetheart Honu Goth Asheth Just Engels Castle Trazzles and everyone else I've missed.

Just back from doc's with various appts for scans and blood tests etc.

Owing to various logistical reasons concerning dsis1, dd is now not going to visit dsis2 in UK which is a bit of a shame.

Now left with dilemma of whether to try and go away or not ourselves which we all desperately want to do. Will be a bit of a tentative trip - worried dh might have a recurrence and that I might start puking again - but better to travel hopefully and all that and probably won't be going far anyway!

Enjoy the afternoon everyone!
