Roll up, roll up to this special birthday month for the fledglings...

We are going to attempt to keep the dc happy, whilst flying. No mean feat in the month of holidays and adventures.

Rule 1. yes even in a birthday month we have rules
It is not about perfection. A little is enough, no really.
Rule 2.
You are aloud to spend time doing fun things, don't regret them or feel guilty.
Rule 3. This one is a fat fairy rule.
you are never behind, jump in where you are

So newbies if you are reading this you are probably thinking wtf?! This is a wonderful system designed by the fly lady. in days gone olde one fledgling had a dream about the fly lady in which she was a fat fairy, thus the thread nickname fat fairy was born. Just so we don't confuse you like Wink
Anyhows, this month it is Bitchy's turn to lead, and perhaps this should come with a warning. She has her own unique style of leading but don't let that scare you off, the fledglings are luffsly and generally far more sane then the bitchy one Grin just be aware of bitchy's special brew. Terribly high in caffine and can sometimes be found in the naughty corner. Which reminds me, the naughty corner if for those who are struggling for whatever reason or those just in need of a stiff drink.

So this flying thing. It has three stages:
stage one: the babysteps. these build a routine. some of them are contriversial, and some a little wishy washy seem a little less significant. But most are really good.
Stage two: babysteps and missions one the routines are in place the missions are designed to help you tackle tasks room by room. These room by room approach is helpfully referred to as zones.
stage three: the mythical deep cleaning stage yeah lets just ignore that, none of us have got to the point where we have not only decluttered but got in control of the chaos Grin

Oh yeah CHAOS - what the fat fairy calls "Can't Have Anyone Over Syndrome"

That clear as mud? good. Let's Begin....

Ta da
planning done for the next couple of weeks
Cleared out half used lotions and potions from bathroom unit, reorganised and cleaned bathroom.
Dejunked jewellery, hair and accessories unit.
Sorted out loads of brand new little girl hair bits/bracelets from old prize box(I have three adult sons)-debating whether or not it would cross professional boundaries to give to a mum I know is short of cash at school. They would be ideal for stocking fillers at Xmas.

To do
Ironing
Dusting
Hoovering
15 minute declutter of wardrobe
Underwear drawer
Think of something for tea.

elliepac · 30/08/2013 14:46

Waves at pushme across a busy beach!

BitchytheGreat · 30/08/2013 15:54

If it would cross professonal boundaries, what about school fair contribution Blueandwhite

I have just sneeze and sent my stomach muscles into spasm. weird. Confused

met the deadline and do various bits and bobs in additon. Just negoiated the plan for the next few days. essential as i shall be dragging ds out for the last few bits of school shopping later. Figured late night shopping/early morning shopping was best way to go on this one for least stress.

Same here Bitchy - I'm about to take the DCs into town, it's easier at this time of day somehow, been so hot here today as well, they haven't even wanted to go in the garden.

Trazzletoes · 30/08/2013 17:57

Sorry not caught up with the thread but I need your help!

I'm home alone tonight with DD and my project is to clean my hob. It's filthy. What are your top tips?

BitchytheGreat · 30/08/2013 18:05

We have a steam cleaning thingy. It works a treat. Not sure helpful at such short notice. Sorry.

Trazzletoes · 30/08/2013 18:09

Nope Grin but thanks for answering!

BlueEyeshadow · 30/08/2013 18:49

Diluted white vinegar in a spray bottle works a treat, I find, Trazzles.

WhoKnowsWhereTheTimeGoes · 30/08/2013 19:23

Mushed up dishwasher tablet?

I would use Magic eraser sponge, but if you haven't got one at home you might not want to drag DD out just for that.

ToffeeWhirl · 30/08/2013 19:38

We have just spent our last day on the beach. It has been so lovely. Did some Flying today, as I wanted to get the beach hut spick and span before handing it back to its owners.

DS2 is going into Juniors next week . I'm not ready for him to go into Juniors! He's still my baby.

Can't believe I will be back to normal routines next week . Am quite happy spending every day on the beach.

elliepac · 30/08/2013 20:23

Last day out of the summerHmm. Have been to the beach this morning and Birds of Prey centre this afternoon. Quite quite lovely.

This summer seems to have gone so fast. Weather has been lovely and have had lots of family fun time. Like you toffee I am struggling to comprehend the return to normality next week. I am often ready to go back but not this year, just want summer to last forever. Plus pfb goes into Year 6 and i have to choose secondary schools which I refuse to believe is possible.

WhoKnowsWhereTheTimeGoes · 30/08/2013 20:32

My DD goes into Juniors too Toffee - for me it's good news (if a little sad), as it means only one sports day, disco, harvest festival, Christmas production etc instead of doing both for the last two years.

I would like another month of holidays (if it wasn't for this sodding assignment, which is actually very interesting but I just can't concentrate on).

Car is packed for camping, apart from clothes, food, pillows and sleeping bags. Flying has really helped there, it used to be scattered all over the house and take hours to get together before a trip, now it is all organised in the shed and so much easier.

NickNacks · 30/08/2013 20:33

Can we all clutch hands next week? I'm also feeling wobbly as ds1 starts middle school, catching bus by himself etc is really stressing me out. :(

BitchytheGreat · 30/08/2013 20:41

Sounds like a plan Nicknack ds is going to go into afterschool club next year. This could bring about a whole new world of meltdowns. Hmm

Been a busy day. forgot the size of ds' current school trousers so don't have new trousers but the ones he has will do unless he grows a massive amount over the next few days, and if this current weather continues he will be in shorts for the first couple of weeks anyway.

WhoKnowsWhereTheTimeGoes · 30/08/2013 20:44

Bitchy - my DS LOVES after school club. He doesn't go regularly, but would like to. Hope it works out well. Will it be every night?

Nick - I'd be nervous too, but I'm sure he will be fine. What year is middle school?

BitchytheGreat · 30/08/2013 20:53

Once a fortnight to start off with. Then will depend on what the job situation ends up being.

I have just remembered why i wanted ds to have the coloured lunch box rather then the black one he ended up with. I have resorted to labelling it in tippex Hmm

Back home and looking at holiday cottages on right move!

Definitely need some hand clutching here nicknack Can't believe DD starts school on Tuesday, she's my baby - where did the time go?

BitchytheGreat · 30/08/2013 21:48

Right tomo is the last day of August Woo Hoo you survived my thread leadership. Congratulations!

No missions because it is the weekend.

Saturday is family fun and loads of people sound like they are planning on making the most of this last weekend of school holidays

NickNacks · 30/08/2013 22:01

Thanks bitchy for leading us.

I'm glad there seems to be quite a few of us going through this scary new school thing. Grin

whoknows middle school is year 5-8 so he's 9. Though not technically on his own on the bus, he'll meet a friend at the bus stop 3-4 minutes away and it's a bus that just serves his school so no route confusion possibilities. But still he's not with me Blush and will arrive home about 15 minutes before me.

Oh and DD is starting preschool Hmm so no stress at all then...

ZingWantsCake · 30/08/2013 22:07

? for Bitchy for excellent leadership!

who is starting one for September?

WhoKnowsWhereTheTimeGoes · 30/08/2013 22:16

Zing - I am, it's here September Thread.

Bitchy please could you do Sunday's links for me? Flowers.

WhoKnowsWhereTheTimeGoes · 30/08/2013 22:20

Nick - no new school for us, as it's a primary (DD goes into Yr 3 and DS into Yr5), so in practice not much change, it's just the significance of having no more infants really. I'd be nervous about DS going on a bus on his own, but I'm sure he'd be fine, he goes to school and back on his own now (1/4 mile, no roads to cross and with me following 5 mins later with DD), but I still get a bit nervous about it. I'm sure your DS will be fine too.

Trazzletoes · 31/08/2013 07:24

Had a lovely night last night in with just DD so my kitchen is sparkly. I'm just a bit pleased.

No school traumas here as Joe turns 4 this week rather than last week (when he should have been born) so we have another year of him at home. With the way things have turned out, I couldn't be happier about that.

JustGettingOnWithIt · 31/08/2013 07:28

Hello to BlueandWhite (apologies I can never recognise anyone when they name change) anger management eh? Boy we could do with some of it round here.

A late Happy Birthday to Dizzy and good luck.

Good luck to everyone with children moving up or starting schools, happy holidays to those squeezing all they can out of them.

Thanks for all the responses to situation, sorry to be so me me, I know there are worse things going on for others.

Don?t know what?s going to happen, but decision is to plough ahead with the original plan and pray spitting and hissing enough, (and that they can?t re-interpret the law) makes no one dare go down the road they seem to be threatening, which is to allow him to do all this but sanction us for it, until we?re financially forced into a different plan. (It feels like walking towards a bush fire, praying for rain while everyone?s shouting ?don?t be stupid?.)

So we started an engineering module yesterday at the same time as basic life skills. The latter?s going to be harder going because he gets so angry and frustrated that he can?t manage them automatically.

Little flying likely here today as we?re spending most of it helping move a friend, which tbh I could really do without, but due to circumstances can?t manage to be that heartless.

JustGettingOnWithIt · 31/08/2013 07:36

Trazzles posted without seeing your post. Glad Joe's a later birthday, you've both quite enough to contend with.
Well done on the sparkly kitchen front, you've every right to be pleased with yourself.
