Noooo...be not ashamed!! Mine was disgusting when the oven cleaner came and when I sheepishly asked whether it's one of the worst he'd seen, he said that the dirtier it is, the easier and more satisfying it is to clean because he can scrape/peel off large chunks of crud!!

My man kept disappearing to the van with bits of oven. He took the door off which alarmed me but he knew how to put it back on luckily.

Mine was awful and it took him 3 hours (!!!!) to sort it out. He was still here at 10pm. He also did the hob and extractor.

Best £110 I have ever spent.

Expect snarky comments from MILs / DMs about how they did theirs every Monday morning to keep it clean. Conveniently forgetting, of course, that on Monday morning I am at work.

Ooh, this seems like a good idea ... do you think they'd be able to fit a new filter for the extractor fan too ? - then I could kid myself it was a very necessary maintainance session - and not just getting someone else to clean my oven for me

I found out after ten years that my extractor fan filters can go in the dishwasher. Did check the manual first though.

I would imagine they can fit new ones though Juggling.

No twas a joke he did a really filthy range in my old house looked new! very satisfying seeing it transformed! I am renting atm and am getting him in before we move out.Quite look forward to it.

My oven is also like something out of downtown abbey, it smokes when we put the grill on.
