Ok so not the wittiest of titles but this month we have the Olympics, holidays, return of football season and heading into the new school year. It's going to be a busy one...

Firstly thanks to Blue and Ellie who kept us on track last month! Thanks

Right, most of you should know how this works. It's a three pronged attack.
Phase one: The babysteps master these and you will be working like clockwork.
Phase two: Adding in Decluttering this will help you keep on top of the amount of stuff contributing to CHAOS.
Phase three: Missions Targeted activities to keep the chaos at bay and starting the deep cleaning.

The golden duster of Flying is stage 4: deep cleaning. This is for most, unrealistic and should only be considered once you have completely decluttered. PA might achieve this simply by virtue of some extreme life decluttering. Although I probably won't recommend her method.

Now for those of you who are completely lost, lets rewind a bit.
CHAOS: Can't have anyone over syndrome. Yep you know that state where you are embarrassed to have play dates fucking hate that phrase or people pop in unexpectedly.
The fly lady approach works by breaking the house down into tiny activities which you do repeatedly yep sounds bad written like that but bare with me and then build up into a routine that becomes habit and you stop thinking about it no really, you do.

Clearer? Yeah ok. I have probably lost you but there is loads of support and help on this thread. If you are confused then ask. However, as this thread starts on the 1st on August I refuse to post the first babystep until later today.

This thread comes with a warning: For those of you who have not yet encountered my leadership of the thread. Be afraid, very afraid aware that I have a rather unorthodox approach and that things can get a tad unpredictable. Starting with a namechange. So who?s on board this month?

Oh and spot markers can help themselves to a magic eraser and ensure there are no marks on the thread for the start of the month. Let?s start as we mean to go on

BitchyDragons · 17/08/2012 15:30

Toffee hope you get some answers at the Doc's today.

OP posts:
ToffeeWhirl · 17/08/2012 17:38

Got my answer, thanks, Bitchy: I have pneumonia Sad. Have been given more antibiotics (two different sorts), plus new inhalers. Dr said I will feel really rough for a couple of weeks and it will take about six weeks to properly heal.

DH and MIL are working out a rota between them, as the only place I want to be is bed.

BitchyDragons · 17/08/2012 17:48

Bloody hell toffee. Rest up, don't worry about the house work and just concentrate on getting better.

OP posts:
Cakebot · 17/08/2012 17:52

Toffee, rest up, get well soon and pass DH and MIL the Flylady web address and leave them to it!

ToffeeWhirl · 17/08/2012 18:13

Thanks, Bitchy and Cakebot. I like the idea of passing on the Flylady web address to DH and MIL! Actually, I was just thinking that we need to sort out chores for the boys to do to help DH. Might get DS1 unloading and loading up the d/washer, for instance. They will all need to help somehow over the next few weeks. It's weird being out of action like this, but maybe it will be good for them.

BitchyDragons · 17/08/2012 18:23

Well it could lead onto a topic for research for ds1 for home ed? the pathological description, sociological impact of etc. Although not if he is particulary sensitive. Pnuemonia is a common secondary and such young minds don't always handle this well.

OP posts:
ToffeeWhirl · 17/08/2012 19:17

Hmm, not sure about that Bitchy. I already have to keep reassuring DS1 that I'm not going to die. He's very worried, poor love, and needed lots of reassurance after he overheard me and DH joking about me being 'at death's door'. DS2, in contrast, is showing almost psychopathic lack of sympathy and just seems annoyed that I'm not available for him at the moment.

NickNacks · 17/08/2012 19:19

Gosh toffee you seem to be having a dreadful time. I hope you feel better soon. Lots of rest

ToffeeWhirl · 17/08/2012 19:39

Thanks, NickNacks.

laurenamium · 17/08/2012 19:44

Get well soon toffee!

MaggieMcVitie · 17/08/2012 20:42

Hope you're feeling better soon Toffee!

pushmepullyou · 17/08/2012 22:21

Oh no toffee hopefully now you've got the right antibiotics you will start to feel better before too long.

ToffeeWhirl · 17/08/2012 22:25

Thanks for all the good wishes everyone. Am feeling incredibly grateful to live in the age of modern drugs. I'm sure they will soon sort it out.

elliepac · 18/08/2012 08:37

Morning all! Back from another week at the caravan this time with mum and dn. lovely time was had by all and the weather smiled on us for a change.

Back to reality today though with loads of washing to do and a house to clean. To be fair DH kept it pretty tidy and the kitchen was clean but, being a control freak, it wasn't quite how i'd do it so going to crack on and get it sorted today.

Busy week this week. Visit to Royal Armouries in Leeds on Tuesday, DS's 9th birthday on Wednesday (no presents bought yetBlush), GCSE results on Thursday and then back up to the caravan on Friday for a week for our family holiday whilst burying my head in the sand about returning to workGrin.

I haven't had chance to flick through the whole thread but wanted to say a massive get well soon to toffee. please take it easy and look after yourself.

Back later.

castlelough · 18/08/2012 11:05

Hi there, I've been missing in action (again! Blush )
Haven't been at home for over a week, so haven't been flying :)
Mind you, while on work experience the past week I did a lot of flying-type activities, just not for my own benefit Hmm

Haven't read through the thread, just this page, and oh dear Toffee you poor poor thing. Please take care of yourself. Thanks

BitchyDragons · 18/08/2012 11:36

Good morning.

Sorry meant to post these last night and seem to have not done so Blush

No missions because it is the weekend
Family fun day is saturday.
and the babystep is The eleven commandments of tidy

considers breakfast and then bed again.

ToffeeWhirl · 18/08/2012 11:53

So lovely to come on here and read all the get well wishes - thank you everyone Grin.

BitchyDragons · 18/08/2012 11:57

Just rest will you? Please. Pneumonia is serious even in the age of modern medicine. People still die from it if the don't get the proper meds and REST that they need. Last thing you need is an admission to hospital because of it!

OP posts:
elliepac · 18/08/2012 12:09

Echoing what bitchy said, REST TOFFEE. The toffee men will not get ill from unchanged bedsheets, you might.

ChitchatAtHome · 18/08/2012 12:09

Toffee - hope you're better soon. Glad the antibiotics are already making a difference.

Spent an hour this morning sorting out all the DSs' toys in the lounge room. Next step is to sort their bedroom out, so that the larger, more visible toys stay in there. I would like all their toys to be out of sight down stairs - probably a bit overly hopefully, but I can dream....

Does anyone have any ideas as to the best shelving units for children's toys and books? We currently have the Ikea 4x4 Expedit shelving unit which is on it's last legs (didn't survive being moved from house to house all that well - thanks to the removalists). It's ok, I guess, but I just wondered whether we could get something that would squish in store more! Grin

To do:
15 minutes kitchen tidy
15 minutes dining room tidy
hang washing
2x more loads of washing

dizzyday07 · 18/08/2012 14:58

Hope you feel better soon Toffee.

I have sold both of DD's Trofast storage units on Ebay so now have to sort and pack the toys before they are collected. At least now I have a good excuse to get rid of some tat - just have to hope DD is watching!!

My mum has come over for the day to collect her 2 wardrobes so our bedroom looks quite bare, and if our 2 chest of drawers sell this evening it will be barer!

foad · 18/08/2012 15:07

hello Smile

ShiftyFades · 18/08/2012 18:03

Get to bed Toffee or we will hunt you down and tie you to your bed, Grey-style but without the pleasure Wink
I think you're local to me aren't you? South coast?

ToffeeWhirl · 18/08/2012 20:06

Grin at all the stern looks and strict orders. I am being sensible - honest. I went back to bed! (But not before I'd washed one load of sheets and hung them on the line - sorry. At least it means I'll be in fresh sheets tonight).

Slept for three hours this afternoon and woke to dinner made by DH, so I'm being well looked after. Washed up, put damp sheets in tumbledrier, tickled dog's tummy, stopped DS2 playing with ant poison Hmm and came back to bed with a big bowl of Ben and Jerry's ice cream Grin.

I'm being careful to take the antibiotics at regular intervals (have set alarms on my phone to remind me) and am drinking lots of fluids and resting. Could not touch alcohol or tea if you paid me (in fact I don't think I've had any alcohol for well over a week - isn't it weird how your body puts you off it when you're not well?).

ellie - wow, you are having a busy time! Glad your week in the caravan went well. I hope all the forthcoming events go equally well.

castle - I hope the work experience was enjoyable. Am impressed that you fitted in some flying!

Bitchy - thanks for the links. Stern words noted. I promise to be sensible (as if I would miss this rare opportunity to lie around in bed all day!)

ChitChat - wow, sounds like you are really sorting out the toy issue. I'm afraid I have no good advice about toy storage. We just shove ours in plastic crates or in this. I hide as much as possible in the loft cupboards and bring them out when DS2 has had a break from them and they are novel again.

dizzy - amazing decluttering going on in your house too! Hope you get a decent price for the chests of drawers.

foad - hello. How's the Flying?

Shifty - believe me, I am willingly taking to my bed. No need to be tied down! And yes, I am on the South Coast, five minutes walk from the South Downs and near Brighton. Am intrigued by where you are now...?

Well, as I am under such strict instructions to stay in bed, I shall have to go and browse active threads . It's a hard life Wink.
