Shock at carrots sink!

DD1 can apparently do bigger jumps with a much better splash than any of the boys we saw today.

She is currently having her 5th wee since going to bed.

bessie26 · 30/07/2012 22:14

zoo - I was going to suggest what carrots said, run away get them outside running around as much as poss - perhaps something Olympic themed ?

AdoraBell · 31/07/2012 03:31

My sink ain't gonna shine tonight, I'm watching our ladies play volley ball. Can't do mine Flylady stylee as the plug doesn't fit water tight, it's one of those drainer type plugs that catches all the bits. When I do shine I do it the old fashioned way, bit of cif and elbow grease.

OH is out tonight, dinner with the Big Cheese, and always calls me to tell me he's on his way home so I can bring the dogs in etc. But, Big Cheese is a Big Drinker so when he said he said he'll call I told him don't me if you're late. I've been exhausted the last few days and I don't need to be awoken in the wee small hours.

Anyway, for this point system we're doing DDs have to keep their own stuff tidy. This means -
clean clothes hung up/folded on shelves in their wardrobe, not screwed up in the bottom with their dirties.
Dirties in their linen baskets,
beds tidied (I don't expect perfection),
toilet flushed when they use it fgs
, all their toot and detritus preciouse things put away rather than left on the floor,
Plates etc in DW or on side if DW still full of "cleanies" as DD2 calls it,
Shoes & trainers put away, ditto coats
Bathroom sink kept clear of crepe that blocks it

Looks like a lot but none of it is onerous tasks, we'll see how they cope with it come Wednesday.Smile

carrotsandcelery · 31/07/2012 07:44

Morning all. Bessie i love your dds confidence in herself. You never do know!
I should point out my sink has been cleaned but just a quick whizz round not a really good scrub!
I also dusted the monster windowsill and decluttered and tidied our bedroom.
Things do feel better for it.
I have two extra girls today so i dont know what i will get done. Ds has been quite naughty so i will have to keep an eye on him.

Scout19075 · 31/07/2012 08:11

Toddler's been begging to go swimming since he saw the first swimming races on Saturday. The weather looks blurgh and I'm carless so I might just take him down to the pool.

OP posts:
carrotsandcelery · 31/07/2012 09:23

Sounds like a plan Scout. It is glorious here so we might go for a bike or scooter ride once dd's other friend arrives. I will walk with Twilight and ds, who is not confident to whizz off on his bike yet and let the girls bomb off. If it gets warm we might go and paddle in the river.

I have loads of bead orders to make as well somewhere along the way.

Scout19075 · 31/07/2012 09:48

The problem with swimming is I don't think Toddler slept very well last night. He came running into my room and frantically climbed into bed (usually he waits to be "invited" if it's the middle of the night) like he was hiding. He spent the rest of the night very restless like he was trying to get away. He woke up this morning and didn't get up/bounce around but waited until MrScout got up. If he's had a good night he's bouncing and saying "Wake up Mommy!" He keeps laying his head on the floor to play (not like him at all). I might try to get him to sleep while watching the swimming races then re-evaluate after lunch. Taking a tired Toddler to the pool is a recipe for frustration (for both of us).

I really need to get back into posting my lists on the other thread. I find when I don't do it I slip into CBA but by posting my to dos/ta dahs I'm more likely to do something because I feel accountable to someone other than myself.

Awwww, cuddly sleeping Toddler.

Afternoon everyone! I am officially "on holiday" and have been away for a few days. Now I am back, I am kind of "half-doing" jobs at home and some DIY/craft projects. I think I'm kind of torn between using hte time to get stuff done and for chilling, but not quite knowing what I want to do to chill!

AdoraBell · 31/07/2012 15:03

DD1 is going to be an Olympic archer, just thought I'd let you know.

I'm skiving, watching the Italain & Argentinian boys play volley ball. DDs are both in bed with a virus ruined my social plans for the day, now I'm going to have to do housework

Arti what sort of things help you chill? Maybe a walk if the weather's nice, museum, cinema, art gallery, meet up with friends, watch the Olympics on TV, read books that have been waiting. Okay I'm out of ideas now Smile

educatingarti · 31/07/2012 20:41

Adora - well doing craft and fancy bits of diy ( ie not regular painting and decorating) can help me chill, but I'm only sort of half motivated atm! I've got a friend coming round tomorrow morning so that may motivate me to tidy and clean the living room.

I've had quite a few tossing/turning nights with poor quality sleep so I think that is part of the problem!

educatingarti · 31/07/2012 20:44

Sounds like we might have a couple of Olympic hopefuls what with Adora's dd1 intending to do archery and Bessie's dd1 being able to do much bigger jumps with a better splash! She just needs to persuade the Olympic Committee to combine the triple jump with either the diving or the water jump in the show jumping!

Scout19075 · 31/07/2012 20:54

Toddler wants to:

"Run, jump, fly" (Gymnastics)
"One, two, three jump fly splash" (Diving)
"Alligator, monkey, mouse" (Breast Stroke motions/swimming)

ACK!

OP posts:
educatingarti · 31/07/2012 22:36

Scout - your ds sounds delightful!
Why does he describe swimming as "alligator, monkey, mouse"?

Scout19075 · 31/07/2012 22:43

At swimming they "paddle" (freestyle stroke) and "alligator/monkey/mouse" (breast stroke like stroke). I think it's "alligator" because they put their hands together in front of them (think alligator "snap" of the hands/arms) then they sweep their arms to the side like a monkey then pull them in front of them like a mouse.

What's funny is watching him "alligator, monkey, mouse" fully clothed on dry land.

DD2 has now announced that the gymnastics she does is school is going to continue until she performs in the Olymics, at this rate we could have our own Team MNSmile

Arti I sympathise with the lack of motivation, I soooo did not want to clean the house today. Hope you have a nice time with your frend tomorrow.

Managed to vacuum and mop, and removed fending articles of clutter from my wardrobe. I have yet to actualy put it in the car though as I don't have the energy to dodge 4 dogs right now. I'll wait until they come in to eat.

Scout how cute, I love the way toddlers articulate their ideas so much better than a nearly 11yr oldWink

Scout19075 · 31/07/2012 23:11

We were watching the gymnastics today and the USA team member Gabrielle something came on to do her floor routine. Toddler kept saying "Seep (sleep). Girl seeping." Then the music started and she opened her eyes and he got excited "Wake up! Girl wake up Mommy!" And you know how gymnasts "stop" for a moment before a tumbling pass? She stopped and Toddler shouted "Run jump fly!" just before she took off on a pass and he started cheering when she started tumbling. It was a blast to watch him watch the athletes.

Alligator/monkey/mouse is what the swim instructor called it at our last (or second to last, I can't remember) session in an effort to get them to actually do something that resembled the stroke (rather than just swishing their arms around in the water). It really has focused him (and, from what my friend says, his BFF) on the "stroke". Both Toddler and his BFF want to be swimmers while watching the Olympics. They're 2.9.

I love the team mn idea and scouts antics. I live in fear of the girls trying any jumps the size zara and co did yesterday. Way too scary.
I am barely motivated to do housework. Ds is running out of underwear so i will have to wash today Blush otherwise, since it is bucketing, i think we will go to the cinema and do some jobs in town. I might take them out for lunch but will have to do some sums first.
I am excited as i am getting paying bead related orders. I am trying to keep on top of getting them made and posted out while still figuring out new ideas.
I entered a competition and didnt win but can see why when i saw the other entries. I have a lot to learn!

educatingarti · 01/08/2012 12:53

I just Love the "run, jump fly" description!

Had a great catch up with friend. Just making lunch, then off to an arts/crafts centre where they make lots of stuff from recycled materials. This really appeals to me and I hope will encourage me to finish my projects.

carrotsandcelery · 01/08/2012 13:32

It does sound really cute. I am in the apple shop. So many lovely gadgets. I am sitting with dds ipod while they reset the whole thing. They have a little station with ipads so they ars happy.
Clearly no housework is being done.

AdoraBell · 01/08/2012 16:12

My turn to feel rough, my DDs have been very kind and shared their virus with me. I predict nada for today, although I can't go back to bed as DDs are still at home.

Carrots DD1 is desperate for an iPod (just not quite desperate enough to keep her room tidyHmm)

I'm in desecrate need of getting to the gym, maybe in a couple of days.

Scout19075 · 01/08/2012 17:15

Oh dear, Adora, I hope you feel better soon.

carrots, I'm not "allowed" any Apple equipment (iPods, iPhones, etc) in the house. Apparently something in the software takes over and decides to rule and MrScout won't have that. I have some fake iPod thing that I still haven't worked out and now can't find bits and pieces to. Guess with a toddler, though, I don't have much opportunity to use it.

Toddler thinks the men on the rings are doing "windmills." He said that about the women on uneven bars yesterday, too. He's been watching talking about boys "run fly!"

He's playing with his normal sized Lego in ways he's never played with his Duplo before. Hmm

I have rocked the decluttering/flinging today. Tomorrow I really must go into town to the charity shop and must go to the tip to do some flinging. I have found Baby Bunny but not my car key.

Tonight I'm going to have to cut out more medals. Grin
