Come inside and settle down on the sofa.

Need to go catch up (probably when Toddler's in bed) but just wanted to send a wave "hello" from my own home. YAY!

carrotsandcelery · 21/05/2012 19:05

Hi Scout!

We are off on a practise cycle up to dd's friend's house to see how she gets on cycling there. It would be great if she could get there on her own sometimes.

Wish us luck! Confused

That is fear not confusion!

I've had to stop the exercise & go back to my physio exercises as my hip has been playing up (an old injury) - am gutted as I was enjoying level 2 shred and had just planned a slightly longer running route. I did do the stairs at work last week for the first time in a year - all 84 of them, up & down twice a day, without having to stop for a breather Grin

Right, had better go pack bags etc for tomorrow.

Scout19075 · 21/05/2012 20:10

Toddler has been doing really well with staying in bed when I put him to bed for the night. But he's woken up in the middle of the night every night we were away. I don't know if it was the excitement of a different place or what. Is there some sort of 30-month sleep regression? I'm hoping being home will mean he'll sleep through.

MrScout's not home tonight. Weather tomorrow is supposed to be wonderful so I promised Toddler a trip to the park in the morning after breakfast. When I went to the store on the way home today I got a loaf of cheapy-cheap bread for duck feeding since I see us being at the park/duck ponds a lot this coming week. Toddler seemed very excited about that.

So many "little" things to do, so much CBA going on.

carrotsandcelery · 21/05/2012 20:48

bessie I am impressed by your 84 steps. Well done you!

Dd managed to cycle up to the horse no bother tonight. She wasn't particularly fast but that is her problem really and I am sure she will speed up as she builds stamina.

She is also considering dropping an activity so she must really want this.

The question is, will she still want it in 6 months time?

I am definitely going to discuss a trial period with my friend.

Scout dd and I used to go and feed the ducks. I hope you have a lovely time.

OP posts:
Scout19075 · 21/05/2012 20:56

Toddler LOVES feeding the ducks. It's one of the rare times that I use the harness/reins, though -- I put the loop on my wrist so I have two hands free for bread sorting and feeding but I know that Toddler can't jump in the water (he hasn't tried it yet though he did come close to it/I could see the thoughts going through his mind).

carrots, I know nothing about horses other than how much time they take. I hope you and DD and your friend can come to an agreement.

Please, someone, I need a swift kick up the bum.

carrotsandcelery · 21/05/2012 21:11

Slippered foot booting you gently - Go Scout, and report back when you are done!

Scout19075 · 21/05/2012 21:25

Well, I have managed to check on Toddler, wash tonight's dishes AND pots, restock the snack pot, mix juice (very weak squash) bottles for tomorrow & get them in the fridge, move chicken from freezer to 'fridge for thawing. Earlier I sent a few emails, sorted out some pictures and started my list for tomorrow.

I should still take out the trash and the recycling and sort out some of the bags that came back from my PiL.

carrotsandcelery · 21/05/2012 22:57

I have made a bracelet for my friend's birthday at the weekend and started another one using a new, self taught, stitch. I want to do more but will have to go to bed. I am going on a morning out with a friend tomorrow so need to be capable of conversation Hmm

Well done for doing stuff scout & fx TS sleeps better in his own bed.

carrots I agree with the others about a trial period for DD & the horse, but how about making it a bit longer than 6 months - say until the end of the year, just so DD gets to experience doing it in the proper winter?

Scout19075 · 21/05/2012 23:03

I've finished bringing in the stuff from the car (train boxes, bags, etc). Emptied the carrier bags -- put stuff away or into recycling (seemed to have a bag of jars down there and have decided to only keep a couple for Christmas stuff and will recycle the rest). Have a pack of nappies and the clothes ready to go upstairs. I've cut out and glued string to Toddler's kite artwork (that he made today) and hung up the Jubilee bunting & paper chain we made the other week.

I want to go to bed but am fascinated by all of this cheesy TV I don't normally get to watch....

CamperWidow · 22/05/2012 08:22

Bessie Yay to the stairs! That's a lot to do. I am determined to start level 2 Shred tomorrow. I haven't been able to do the dvd for 10 days straight yet so I've been wimping out, but that's it, tomorrow is level 2!

Scout Lol does exactly the same when we stay at my Moms. She will without fail wake up at some point. I think it's the excitement and a different bed. Hope Toddler was ok last night, Lol always settles back quickly. What does you Bunting look like? The village is having a Jubilee party/village fair and our Mother and Toddler group have got our own competition class, Bunting! We're doing them next week to go up around the Fair.

TitsalinaBumSquash · 22/05/2012 08:31

Hi everyone, I found you! :)

I started a tread earlier today, basically my house is a mess, really cluttered and I'm so behind with the housework. (thanks morning sickness!)

Anyway I hear these threads are great for gentle motivation and support, do you have room for a small one? Smile

What do I have to do to get started? Smile

CamperWidow · 22/05/2012 09:02

Firstly, have a ginger Biscuit for the morning sickness! And a Brew while you're at it.
Have a look at the FLYlady website. Don't panic or get overwhelmed. Babysteps all the way. Read this and then write a small and achievable jobs list. Start from there and build up!
We start a new list thread each month and some-one usually posts a link to each babystep to slowly build up your routine. Don't fret, most off us have been doing the babysteps for a couple of months.

educatingarti · 22/05/2012 09:46

Just popping in to say hi before I dart out to do various jobs. Welcome Titsalina. I hope you can find some motivation here.

One thing I sometimes do is set a timer for 15 minutes and just work on something for 15 minutes at a time. That can seem not so daunting. Fly Lady babysteps and Kelly's missions are helpful too!

carrotsandcelery · 22/05/2012 09:52

Hi Squash welcome to the thread. We have two threads. This one is for chatting and wittering on etc and we have another where we list what we have done. Some of us post a To Do list at the start of the day and then cross off as the day goes on. Others appear now and again and post Ta Das ie lists of what we have managed to do so far. You can do it any way you like really and just come here for company and support, motivation and the odd boot to get you moving.

I am going out to the garden centre with a friend today so I need to make a list of what I need. It is mostly pots in the garden that need replenished. I also need a few more thyme to grow through the gravel at the front. I have a voucher so that makes it all the more enjoyable Grin

OP posts:
carrotsandcelery · 22/05/2012 09:54

here is the list thread

It is not the most thrilling of reads but it does sometime prompt a job or give an idea of what we could all do.

Just had most frustrating call with someone from the diabetes team. They are phoning me up every month (it's some programme or other) to chat about how I am getting on with making changes to diet etc. I had a fantastic call with the manager, last month. It really helped me to think through what I was doing and how to start to make changes. Today I've had a call from another person who will be doing the calls from now on. Very frustrating! It seems like she has a particular set of "stuff" she can go through and doesn't seem to be able to work "outside the box" very well. She suggested next time we talk about carbohydrates (what they are etc) and portion control! I told her I taught GCSE science!! I'm sure there are somethings I can still learn, but she couldn't cope with my questions today - for example: the official advice is only to have 3 meals a day, no snacks or supper. I am doing well with cutting out snacks but find I still need to have something to eat before I go to bed. I wanted to know that although it wasn't ideal, 4 planned meals a day was better than random snacking. Cue lots of repeating of how the advice is 3 meals a day and "the only way to lose weight is through eating less" Err - that wasn't my question!

I found it patronising and frustrating by turns!

Scout19075 · 22/05/2012 12:31

Hello!

I love the sunshine!

I've noticed a lot of police offices (on foot and in cars) around lately and there seems to be an awful lot of council workers around clearing brush, etc. I think they perhaps realize that the Olympic Torch/Flame is coming through in a few weeks and if they're going to be on the regional and/or national news town better look like a half-way safe & decent place to live. (Town has a bit of a reputation locally.) I think we counted three cars going past while we were at Tesco and at least one "Blues & Tunes" going by while we were walking.

Toddler has been going to both rest & bedtime easily and even if he doesn't go right to sleep has been staying in his bed. YAY!!!

I should be taking advantage of Toddler's nap and going through more things upstairs (oh the things I have found and flung!) but I'm tired walking at Toddler pace to town and half-way through it and all the way back does something to the knees & hips. We're meeting friends at one of the playgrounds on the opposite side of the town center this afternoon (and I think I might be lazy and drive so we can combine errands and save my poor knees--).

Scout19075 · 22/05/2012 13:10

Emails saying "your order has dispatched" are almost as exciting as the actual arrival of the package. YAY!
