Oh cross posts Scout. How are you feeling now?

OP posts:
Scout19075 · 22/06/2012 12:46

I feel rough. Thanks for asking, carrots. Toddler was quite happy running around after other kids his size or playing with his big friends. He's up "resting" now. I dare not let him go as long as he would on his own or he'll never sleep tonight. I want to crawl into bed but know if I did I wouldn't get up until tomorrow.

carrotsandcelery · 22/06/2012 12:52

There is a gap in the market for "sickness nannies" isn't there. It would be great to be able to phone a service who could send someone out to care for your child in your home while you are there but sick.

Poor you Scout!

I told Toddler that if he had a good rest we'd go out for a "Toddler & Mommy date" for drinks this afternoon if he wanted. He seemed keen to do that. I just checked on him and he's sound asleep, clutching Bunny in one hand and some of his favourite train books in the other.

liveinazoo · 22/06/2012 13:32

hi everyone

been nuts here

ds was prescribed steriods and inhalers

no sleep for me -he slept in my arms wheeze, cough and crying in sleepwednesday night
thursday am dd2 has olympics club at 8am,then trailhome again til 8.45 to take lil zoo nursery

jad run an important errand and typically it hissed it down and i got soaked through to the skini decided against changing as had get lil zoo 15mins later and was still raining.picked her up and shlopped home

we all put on our jammies as dd2 had a playdate and dinner after school and was being ferried home afterGrin

i bathed dcs at 3..15mins in mobile rang i had to go to the childrens centre as no other peer supporters were available and there was a distressed mum of a 4wk old baby.

dressed wearily and dragged stroller out again and headed down.centre manager queried why ds was in stroller than got arsy bout me taking ill kids into young baby setting.at this point i was less than polite and pointed out he want catching and as she knows me verywell i was affronted she would think i would expose anyone, little or not to a virus

thankfully sorted mumand she went away hour later in a better state than when she arrived

draggd home and wa eating dinner when dd2 came home bounding with excitement!

bessie26 · 22/06/2012 13:36

I think (hope) DD1 is just tired. She was ok when we were doing something (like making muffins), but had a mini-meltdown every time something didn't go her way (like a blanket not being folded in quite the right way)

They are both in bed now. I'm just having a Brew and I'm going to go for a nap too. I think I am tired and fed up after a few days at work & need to be better rested to be able to cope with their demands!

I did vacuum this morning & have shuffled some washing around, but I had hoped to sort out some of their old clothes this afternoon ready to sell (they are all in bags cluttering up my bedroom)

Enjoy your date scout!

liveinazoo · 22/06/2012 13:39

permission to kip in the corner on the floor?

he cries in his sleep so even though he only woke x3,i got very little sleep

i dont let him in my bed so slept sofa, complete wth cat on my chest face to face> til i felt suffocated then retreated to his junior bed

bessie26 · 22/06/2012 13:39

hi zoo - does that mean DS has athsma? (sp?!) Have/can they do any tests to see what makes it flare up like this?

liveinazoo · 22/06/2012 13:46

hi bessie
doctor is reluctant to label asthmatic at this point
i asked what happens now and he said nothingunless he gets worse or is still struggling after steriod course finishes..this time i didnt wait and see so it not as bad as the first time so its just a 3 day course steriods and not such a high dose.
lack sleep making me worry myself silly though

part me afraid to sleep case he worsens and i soo tired i dont hear him gasping and by the time i go to him its too lateSad

dd1 had asthma nad severe eczema as a child, both have reduced dramatically as an "adult",but she never had wheezing fits like this.she was prone to chest infections when had colds and triggers like cats and grass poleens as she grw older made her wheze a little.i never remember watching her breathing at night or gasp and clutch at me panicking slightly whne just sitting still

carrotsandcelery · 22/06/2012 14:01

Hi zoo I asked you loads of questions on the other thread but you have answered them here. I am sorry it is all so stressful for you. Can you snooze in the day at all or is he wheezy then too?

OP posts:
CatsSleepAnywhere · 22/06/2012 14:08

Sending {{hugs}} zoo.

DD is still awake and has been since 3.00am. Shock Although she is sat watching telly at the mo so might nod off.

I am tired today. The weather is crap here (grey wet and windy). We have also got soaked on a couple of occasions today.

bessie My DD keeps falling over just lately and every time she says "Now, look what you done" even if I am nowhere near her Hmm Threenager!

liveinazoo · 22/06/2012 14:14

carrots hes a bit better today as long is sitting still.very lingy and if i lay down he spoons in to me then starts coughing and wheezing again

i really should wash teh floor but bad enoug got trail down to get dd2 in a bit and am valiamtly try not to nod off.its cold, wet and grey here and taking the stroller will ensure if raining when leave i will get soaked again

in other news Scout has learned how to open the front door and let himself inSmile

bessie26 · 22/06/2012 14:19

Now here's a lesson for you all - when you get the chance to go to bed, do it straight away! No faffing about tidying up from lunch, or sorting clothes - straight to bed!

I reckon I was in bed for about 10 mins before DD2 woke up screaming (i am blaming teeth as she is still drooling) She has been calpoled & is on my shoulder. Might have to ask DH to bring some ibuprofen home with him tonight, I can feel my back twinging already!

zoo could DP come round for a couple of hours to let you get some rest?

CatsSleepAnywhere · 22/06/2012 14:28

Can someone give me a boot later. I need to write out a shopping list but still have CBA-itis this afternoon!

I have just been accused again by DD of making the trains fall off the table Shock even though I am nowhere near. Good job I don't take it to heart! Grin

educatingarti · 22/06/2012 14:33

Afternoon all. My sympathies to all of you with lurgies and/or sick/early waking/teething or just plain PITA little ones. If I was near enough I'd do a "sickness nanny" stint for any of you!!

Now I'm wondering if any of you cooks could give me another recipie I can try. Bessie's quinoa burgers and Carrot's lentil hotpot were both great. Any more ideas?
Again I'm looking for something I can cook 4-6 portions of and freeze and ideally not have to add anything else to it when I defrost a portion.

carrotsandcelery · 22/06/2012 14:35

Deary me! I suggest we all move into a commune and take shifts so that someone at least gets some sleep. Grin

Sleep deprivation is really debilitating. People trivialise it but it is devastating. Be as kind as you can to yourselves.

bessie do you have a sling or is she too big for that now? It is hard to picture how she must have grown. I still imagine a wee baby. Please be careful.

OP posts:
bessie26 · 22/06/2012 14:59

carrots she weighs 12kg. She is 98th percentile for weight & height. Waaaaaaaay too big for a sling!

I'm about to try to get her into bed without waking her up (last attempt failed) - will hopefully have time for a quick tea & chocolate boost before getting little miss grumpy pants up!

bessie26 · 22/06/2012 15:01

Sorry arti I forgot to suggest my ginger soup to you. V easy to make & yummy!

bessie26 · 22/06/2012 15:26

ginger soup

DD2 & I are up. One of us has eaten half a bar of chocolate, the other, 2 breadsticks. Working up the enthusiasm to wake DD1 - she's been in bed for almost 2 hours now.

Scout19075 · 22/06/2012 16:53

Toddler's worked out that his ELC baby/toddler train toys have magnets on them like his wooden/Brio trains and is now trying to work out who to attach the two so the big (ELC) one can pull the long line of Brio. [hahahahaha]

carrotsandcelery · 22/06/2012 17:54

Dd's on stage again tonight in another production by her drama group.

Dh has just left to drop her off. We head off to watch in an hour. I feel nervous but she is just really excited. Where did this confident, "I can do it" child come from? Dh is even more shy and reserved than I am. Confused

OP posts:
AdoraBell · 23/06/2012 04:42

Carrots hope DD's performance well, glad she's excited about her drama.

Hope everyone is feeling better in the morning.

My DDs are upstairs chatting and watching TV with a friend, she's staying over. Other friend is up early tomorrow for a maths thing, so she went home. Dealt with DD1's stroppiness this morning, and a sibling fracas this afternoon. All seems to be tranquil at present. DCs walked puppies around the garden and then OH took them out after they'd eaten

I've re-named one of the puppies- Houdini. OH rejigged the pen and they got the clips off, these are clever pups. I went out shopping thinking they were secure and came back to find them sitting by the door waiting for me, pen open and the pan stand overturned and chewed. OH has now put padlocks on their pen, fingers crossed.

I got all my bits done today, thought about having my hair done but my chap wasn't available. I also thought about having a Big Mac fries and a coke, but decided on a turkey, avacado and lettuce sarnie with water followed by a cup of tea. My flu is dragging on but only slowing me down rather than knocking me out. Everyone OH talks to has had the same, and it's dragging on for weeks.

Not much gong on here, we're all going out or dinner tomorrow, and I still haven't found a gift for the OH

carrotsandcelery · 23/06/2012 10:18

Hi Adora - the show was bloody awful very creative. There were some fantastic moments but, given Dd was virtually the oldest member of the group, you can imagine the standard of performance, and they had written it all themselves. It over ran by over an hour as well. I was losing the will to live.

Dd is thinking of moving to the older group now thank heavens but I will have to investigate more about when it is as she has so many hobbies.

OP posts:
AdoraBell · 24/06/2012 04:42

Carrots

Glad DD was good, sounds like she needs to move up to that other group.

We've had a relaxing day, followed by a lovely dinner(we took the DDs) in a very good Italian restaurant. They make their own pasta.

This afternoon, after DD's friend had been collected I woke OH up, just after midday, and sent him into the kitchen first because Houdini had done it again. Not the puppies' fault of course, OH only did up 1 clip, at the bottom, so they squeeeeeeeezed through. I'm getting a bit sick of being pounced on because they want food. Again, not heir fault, but we have them (both) because OH couldn't bear to seperate them and it's me who does all the looking after unless I put my foot down, so I haveGrin

While he washed the car DDs walked the puppies and the big dogs approached but they don't appreciate the interlopers one bit. It's going to take a bit of work to integrate them. After that, and a light meal mid afternoon, OH and DD2 watched a disaster movie featuring a 400 foot crocodileConfused, DD1 watched sensible TV and I sorted their washing for school next week.

Scout19075 · 24/06/2012 08:29

I think Toddler has caught my cold.
