Do you wash your dish cloth and tea towel every day?

I change my dish cloth and tea towel every day, and just wondered whether other people also do this?

At the moment, I have a relatively empty white wash on because of this though... Could I soak the dishcloth in something (Milton?) instead, then wash it when I have a full white wash?

Sorry, I know it's a silly question but wet dish cloths make me stressed.

why ?
the plates are clean !
every few days soak the dish cloth in bleach
its what i do :)

Sparklingbrook · 05/05/2012 22:25

I don't have a dishcloth or a tea towel. I have anti bacterial wipes.

RecursiveMoon · 05/05/2012 22:25

I suspect that you're right somewhere! I can be a bit anxious about food hygiene etc, so I realise that I'm going OTT.

Sparkling, do you wash your dishes with antibacterial wipes? Or do you have a dishwasher?

I have antibacterial dish cloths. So Lakeland says anyway Grin.

It's ok though you can wash them every day if you like.

i have clean cloths and tea towels every day. i wash them on 60 along with towels and bedding.

i always wash full loads - i just ensure the cloths/tea towels are dry before chucking in the washing basket.

BackforGood · 05/05/2012 22:28

No.
Only when they need it.
However, if one needs a wash and I'm not doing one, I'd leave it soaking in a bucket until I had enough stuff to do a wash.

Sparklingbrook · 05/05/2012 22:28

We have a dishwasher. It isn't all that though TBH, causes more arguments than washing up. I used to use a dishcloth for wiping the surfaces until I got the wipes.

RecursiveMoon · 05/05/2012 22:29

I like your style ceres. I sometimes end up with one or 2 damp ones hanging around, so I clearly need a better system.

I get through 2 or 3 of each every day. I can't bring myself up use them more than a couple of times.

chezchaos · 05/05/2012 22:34

*to use

Longtalljosie · 06/05/2012 08:18

I change my tea towel every day (I'm haunted by a news story which found that some tea towels have more bacteria on them than loo seats Shock and I put my dishcloth through the dishwasher every couple of days. It steam sterilises that way too.

Melindaaa · 06/05/2012 08:40

We use multiple tea-towels every day, at least half a dozen, but they get used for all sorts, and rarely for drying anything. I use them to get things out of the oven, wipe water off the floor, clean up spillages etc, so one use and they get washed.

We don't use dishcloths as we have a dishwasher. I use wipes to clean kitchen sides/table/highchairs, and use a kitchen sponge for the sink.

nannyl · 06/05/2012 08:49

I wash my dish cloth daily

my dishes normally drip / air dry, but i wash the tea towel every day that its used.

surroundedbyblondes · 06/05/2012 08:52

Nope, but I let them dry out and put them through a hot wash whenever I have a full-ish load

doormat · 06/05/2012 08:54

i never use a tea towel or a dish cloth on my dishes..too much bacteria...

i let them air dry and wash dishes with a fresh sponge...i only use dishcloths for wiping surfaces, but a fresh one every time....but thats me as i am abit OCD on this subjectGrin

insancerre · 06/05/2012 08:54

I use a clean dish cloth and tea towel every day. I tend to do a hot wash every couple of days so I just throw the cloths in the laundry basket with the rest of the washing. Sometimes I just chuck them on the floor next to the washing machine in the utility room if I know that i am going to put a wash on soon. MIL used to boil wash her dishcloths in a saucepan- the smell used to make me heave.

DukeHumfrey · 06/05/2012 08:55

I wash my dishcloth in clean, hot water after use, but then leave it over the tap to dry - I certainly don't change it every day, just when it needs it.

Hardly use teatowels as have a dishwasher.

echt · 06/05/2012 09:46

We have a dishwasher, but the tea towel, scrubby sponge thing and J-cloth wipe are changed every day. They are collected in a string bag in the laundry, and when it's full, they're put on 70.

KeepTryin · 06/05/2012 10:11

I change my tea towel every day. I shine my sink then shine my w/m door Wink then chuck it in the w/m. I throw away the dishcloth(cheapy Jcloth) and scourer every sunday and get new ones out...

BartletForAmerica · 06/05/2012 10:12

I put them in the washing basket at the end of each day, but they don't necessarily get washed until there is a decent amount to do.

imnotmymum · 06/05/2012 10:19

I get through about 5 tea towels a day and change dishcloth every day

Belmo · 06/05/2012 10:23

I just give it a wee rinse, and chuck if it looks manky! Probably every couple of weeks? Am prepared to be told I'm disgusting, though! :)

lovechoc · 06/05/2012 10:31

I just wash them when they look like they need a wash.

imnotmymum · 06/05/2012 10:35

Belmo that disgusting do you know how many germs ...
