Do you wash your dish cloth and tea towel every day?

I change my dish cloth and tea towel every day, and just wondered whether other people also do this?

At the moment, I have a relatively empty white wash on because of this though... Could I soak the dishcloth in something (Milton?) instead, then wash it when I have a full white wash?

Sorry, I know it's a silly question but wet dish cloths make me stressed.

No. Because I don't use a dish cloth or tea towel. Too germy!

Dishwash, air dry or kitchen roll for the surfaces.

Grin at jamais.

I feel positively normal after this thread Smile. And the cutlery / crockery thread.

Fold dishcloth and put in dishwasher to clean. Easy.
And change teatowel every day.

Seriously? Everyday?

I wash tea towels when they look like they need it, but they're only really used for drying hands in my house.

I have those lakeland yellow things for washing dishes (they're like nets). They go in the washing machine when they look dirty (i.e. hardly ever).

For wiping up spills and wiping surfaces I use disposable cloths (bought in packs of 10 and each cut into 4 pieces) but they last ages before they need replacing.

I'm spreading bacteria everywhere, but we don't have meaty bacteria (not vegetarian, just poor) and I don't use the cloths on the floor, so it's probably not going to do us any harm. We're ok so far...

beansmum, I just ordered one of those yellow things! I hoped that they'd be useful.

Envy at those of you with a dishwasher.

I change my tea towel every day - but mainly because I a a slob and it gets covered in food spills anyway.

I use j cloths and chuck 'em after use, the last job they do is clean the bin lid then I throw them away.

Sponge scourer for washing the dishes lasts a few days before it is thrown, but I wash my dishes in lava hot running water so germs would be killed presumably.

I never use anti bac crap, just very hot water and some sort of soap, and regular washing and replacement.

Re going away - I stay in ahotel so don't worry about tea towels and j cloths, and the sheets are changed every day so that's good. But I do assume that the chambermaid will wash the minibar glass with the same rag she has used to clean the loo. Trust nae fucker.

jamais I agree with your comments on this....you have to wonder if others are living in the real world when they say they wash their tea towels and dish cloths every day?! I wouldn't have time for all that, I just do it when it needs done. We're all still alive to tell the tale!! :)

Dishcloth go in the washing machine as soon as they are manky which in our house is pretty much every day. Teatowels usually every 2-3 days (they dry lots of dishes).

nancerama · 09/05/2012 09:02

I store the manky ones in the washing machine until I have enough other washing for a full load.
