Come inside for a Brew and a Biscuit and maybe even a Wine if the mood takes you.

A thread for chatter and nonsense Grin

You definitely can't take in an ipod. Sorry for being so ignorant Blush

I figure I'll nap and enjoy my Toddler-free two hours mid-week/mid-day. Must remember to ask my friend if I can drop TS off for two hours.

carrotsandcelery · 05/05/2012 22:29

Sounds like a plan Scout. Smile

I am not enjoying the early night rule. It just means I wake up too early in the morning Confused

Scout19075 · 05/05/2012 22:33

I'm going to bed as soon as this show is over. We're off farther afield tomorrow and I have a few chores to get done before we go.

carrotsandcelery · 05/05/2012 22:36

BTW dh fitted the new velux blind today on his own while we were all out. Hurrah!

And he descaled his coffee machine which was another nonsense I was dreading a fuss about.

The fundraiser I was at made over £1000 which is great too.

Yay!

Scout19075 · 06/05/2012 07:27

Sorry, carrots, I suddenly crashed and couldn't stay upright any more. Well done to MrCarrots (or is he Celery to your Carrots?). And yay for your fundraiser!

Toddler stayed in bed all night -- YAY!

carrotsandcelery · 06/05/2012 07:40

Yay for TS! Hurrah!

I had nightmares about Iron Clad. It was horrific, and I didn't even watch it, just accidentally looked up now and again. I think dh and I will have to review the Love Film list. Hmm

I woke up at 6.30 today. Dh is off golfing and dd is VERY excited about her show.

Scout19075 · 06/05/2012 07:44

carrots, TS came in around 6:40 so up around the same time as you. It's the pits for a Sunday morning.

carrotsandcelery · 06/05/2012 07:49

I was quite relieved to leave my nightmares tbh and it is blue sky and sunshine here today.

Dd wants to go and buy horse shampoo incase the pony she is borrowing has muddy legs.

There is a row brewing at the stables as some of the mums are helping too much. I can understand but it spoils it for everyone as it is creating tension and taking the fun out of it. I am hoping no squabbling takes place amongst the competitive mums while we are hanging around today.

Dd hasn't learnt her dressage routine so it could be very interesting for her in the arena Shock I have advised her to learn it and she isn't doing it so I guess she has to learn from experience. Eeek! It is not always easy being 11 and refusing to do anything your dmum gently suggests. Confused

carrotsandcelery · 06/05/2012 08:34

Well done TS & good luck teenCarrots !!

DD2 was gabbering away at 6am, but must have fallen asleep again until 7. Poor DH must be knackered, I don't think he got in until after 1am!

We're off to feed some goats & other animals today. Had better get everyone dressed!

liveinazoo · 06/05/2012 09:17

dd2 refusing to flybaby
has had 2 fights ds
upset little zoo with mean words
had 4 tantrums

we are heading off out for a bit of air

CatsSleepAnywhere · 06/05/2012 09:35

Morning all, I am a bit later than usual getting on here today. Started off feeling a bit ill but think I'm coming round a bit now. Also DD went on computer with DH and had a massive tantrum when it was time for her to get off.

Zoo Sorry things are not going great again, maybe it will help for you all to get out of the house for a while.

carrotsandcelery · 06/05/2012 09:59

zoo is there any option to divide and conquer? eg could dp or dd1 take ds or dd2 for a while? Could dd2 have a friend from up the street to play for a bit? Is it dry? Can you get out to a park or similar?

Great to here about TS successes with sleeping again!
Sorry to here about your earlyier than desirable starts Scout and Carrots!

Carrots and Cats sorry about your DDs being a pain!

educatingarti · 06/05/2012 10:35

I mean Zoo ad Cats - re dds

educatingarti · 06/05/2012 10:50

Zoo - in my experience, tweenage girls 8-12 can be really hard work! I don't have my own, but I've taught a lot and have friends with children. Between 8 and 10, the hormones often start to kick in pre-puberty and this often is part of the reason they get more stroppy and pick fights with siblings and friends. If you know any year 5 teachers, give them your best smiles, sympathy and chocolate as this is when tweenage girls (imo) are often at their worst! Teachers have to spend so much time sorting out really bitchy behaviour between girls in the class!

Is dd2 always doing things with ds and dd3? It may be that she is beginning to feel a bit more grown up than them. If you can manage it, a bit of one on one time with you or dh might really help her! Not saying you should do this as a seeming reward for bad behaviour though.

Could you decide on a few privileges she can have wrt her age - eg slightly later bedtime, walking round to friends house on her own ( if safe), or whatever would seem to her like a privilege etc. Take her out for a walk/coffee/hot chocolate and discuss her behaviour. Explain you know she is feeling more grown up and you'd like to give her more responsibility/privileges but she has to show you she is behaving in a more grown up way. Explain how it is so tiring for you and dh when she behaves like she does. If ds or dd3 are winding her up she has two grown-up options. Either ignore it or come and talk (not whine) to you or dh about it! If she does a day without winding up Ds etc then she gets the later bedtime (or whatever), if not she doesn't!

If this doesn't seem like a good approach then ignore it, as you are the expert in what is happening! Just my thoughts on it!

carrotsandcelery · 06/05/2012 11:35

It's a really tough one zoo. You could really use dp's help and I know that is not always easy for so many reasons.

It might be worth starting a thread to see what the wisdom of mumsnet can do to help. You definitely won't be alone.

It would be great if you could make her responsible for something. The trick is making her think it is her idea though Confused

I decided to take a morning off the housework and have been doing some watercolour painting. The DC decided they wanted to paint too so I let them do 2 paintings each. DD gets in quite a mess so she will need a bath later.

I will be stopping for lunch now. I had best do some washing later today --If I get round to it-- . I will need to check they have uniform for Tuesday.

I feel o.k. today Grin

Hope everyone else is o.k.

carrotsandcelery · 06/05/2012 12:59

Cats I am so pleased you are doing some painting. You need to do something for yourself. What did you paint?

I have dropped dd off at the stables. There is much cheating going on Shock I feel bad for dd but I would be sending the wrong message if I did it too. She will know that whatever she does today she did it herself and can take all the credit.

She is worried about not getting a placing and I tried to explain that with so many competing and with so many of them being very experienced that I wasn't expecting a placing. It is really hard to do without sounding like you have no faith in them. I was trying to explain the idea of just competing with herself and once she had done this she would have points that she could try to beat next time. (ie a record of how she has improved).

Dh does a lot of competitive running but only tries to better his previous times etc so when I made that comparison she was happier.

I asked her on the way up what was the most important thing today and she said, "To be safe and to HAVE FUN!" so I really hope I got my message across and we don't have tears tonight. EEEeeek!

It is not easy being a Mum and sending them out to do stuff by themselves sometimes! Confused

my nerves are shot and i just want to sleep
