Settles down with feet up.

Hello carrots. Smile

Hi BC Smile I like the new thread. Do you think it is just you and me?

Any suggestions how to store loads of little clip lock plastic boxes and sistema boxes? Now that I no longer leave them on the drainer until I next use them I have no idea where to put them. Confused

carrotsandcelery · 11/03/2012 10:01

Also, any suggestions what to play with a bored seven year old ds that won't drive me insane? [sick of Lego]

BlackCatTryingToFly · 11/03/2012 10:05

I don't know. I had that problem yesterday with my DS. He went on the xbox.

We have lego scattered all over the living room floor at the mo.

We have Brio out. In various track shapes. Lots of bits -- a long windy one, a straight one with a bridge, an oval. Not all joined up. Toddler loves making runs and using them.

carrotsandcelery · 11/03/2012 10:38

Ds's problem was that he wanted to join in with the girls and we now only have 2 scooters. They seem happy for him to get involved now though (making a mini garden on a tray in the real garden).

I came through from my shower all ready to make a comic book or to make some stuff with Knex and he was off out playing with them.

I felt briefly disappointed then realised I could save my ideas for when they start screaming at him and should enjoy the peace and harmony while it lasts.

We are big brio fans here too Scout although it hasn't been out for a while (which probably means it would go down well too).

Scout19075 · 11/03/2012 10:50

Toddler got his Brio for Christmas and then some extra bits and pieces from his grandparents and from his Daddy (sometimes I think the Brio is as much for MrScout as it is for Toddler). It has been out/used/played with every days since Christmas. We bought actual Brio for his first set, so not inexpensive stuff, but definitely one of the best investments ever for Toddler (the other top investment was the £7 umbrella doll stroller from ELC).

I think we're going out and having another family day sort of day so won't be around again until tonight.

carrotsandcelery · 11/03/2012 10:56

Dd got a big tub of Brio when she was a toddler from my dparents. It has a road and rail set up and a bridge etc. It has been added to over the years so now fills 2 tubs and is great fun to set up as there are now loads of options.

I don't know what to do with myself now. I have housework to do but don't want that to be all I ever do and the dcs have gone out to play.

I think it will be toasties for lunch so not much doing there.

bessie26 · 11/03/2012 11:57

We all love Brio here too. Mine is at my parents for grandad the DDs to play with, and we bought a big box off a friend's son (he was selling so he could buy some hornby) which we have here.

Fly lady suggests stacking all your Tupperware boxes together & putting the lids in a bag (there was a recent mission to sort them out)

carrotsandcelery · 11/03/2012 12:02

I remember the mission to sort them out but not the putting them in a bag bit. Strangely I did think of putting them in one of those Orla Keilly shopping bags but I wasn't sure where to put them after that. I must have read it and subconsciously remembered. We use a lot of them for all ds's snacks and need spares as he leaves them at school sometimes.

carrotsandcelery · 11/03/2012 12:04

The girls, including Twilight, are picnicing on the lawn. Dh is back and tried to bring Twilight in and she refused Shock She clearly likes a picnic. Grin

I think they are planning to wash the car. Woo hoo Grin

BlackCatTryingToFly · 11/03/2012 13:04

I have been out and collected DD's clothes from DB's house, they are now in the washing machine.

I am just stooping for lunch now.

OP posts:
carrotsandcelery · 11/03/2012 13:23

What happened to the clothes BC? Did you say she was sick on them? Was it too much cake?

I am being tortured by Sack Boy with ds. Save meeeeeee.......

BlackCatTryingToFly · 11/03/2012 13:30

Carrots yes she tried to put too much food in her mouth so she was ick.
Luckily I had some spare clothes with us for her to change into.

I will have to go now cause DS needs the computer to research something for his homework project.

I am ever so slightly Angry

Dd and her friend seem to have managed to trash every room in the house and the front garden as well.

Dh seems to have managed to trash the nice clean bath.

Dd and her friend seem to think I am some sort of bitch from hell ogre for asking them to tidy up.

Shock Shock Shock

Dd will be getting a talking to when her friend goes home and will be doing a lot of cleaning, washing and ironing over the next week.

Grrrrr!

carrotsandcelery · 11/03/2012 15:16

On a plus note, I have found some Minstrels which I will be tidying away neatly this evening with a bottle of Crabbies ds's sleep programme or not. Grin

BlackCatTryingToFly · 11/03/2012 15:21

--I am loosing the will to live DS is taking far too long over his sodding-- project. he is meant to do 2 pages a week and instead he is doing about 2 lines a week.

OP posts:
carrotsandcelery · 11/03/2012 15:24

BC I totally feel your pain. We had this last week with Ds's homework.

Can you bribe him?

eg 10 sentences = 10 mins play?

or 10 sentences = 10 smarties?

or 10 sentences = 10 extra minutes on the xbox?

Or can you leave him to it and tell him he can face the consequences? (Can have more impact than you think)

BlackCatTryingToFly · 11/03/2012 17:05

Carrots we made the big mistake of letting him do it in pen and now he wastes time waiting for Tipp-Ex to dry when he does a word wrong. Oh well! we learn from our mistakes (hopefully) next time he gets a project he can use pencil.
He his playing out now.

carrotsandcelery · 11/03/2012 17:29

Oh BC - I wonder if teachers know the agony of homework projects when they are that age? If it helps at all, ds was really proud of his when he was finished and did a good job when he did his presentation so there is a point and a good result at the end of it all BC

Ds and Dd are exhausted. Ds is having temper tantrums all over the place and Dd is weeping quietly in a corner upstairs.

I suspect Ds was up far too early again although he is not admitting to it.

I have also discovered a hazard of menu planning. Tonight's meal was supposed to be veggie haggis, neeps and tatties. It is not the best meal to serve when the temperature has been touching on 20C though. I did a quick rescue of pasta, pesto, quorn sausage and feta cheese which felt a bit less heavy and a bit more summery but was still filling enough to see them through to morning (hopefully - ds may have some Weetabix near bedtime).

Scout19075 · 11/03/2012 20:12

I'm sooooo tired. Bed at 1 a.m. and up early (8-ish, so not too early, really) is the pits.

BlackCatTryingToFly · 11/03/2012 20:35

Hi Scout I think I will be off to bed early tonight as only got 6 hours sleep last night. Just having a hot chocolate first and playing on here.

Scout19075 · 11/03/2012 21:35

I've done all the jobs I had hoped to do when we got home. I think I'm going to upload (or is download?) my pictures of Toddler from today and let M&D know they're posted then go to bed.

My local Childrens' Center has completely rearranged their schedule and cancelled the two groups Toddler and I regularly attended. TS is going to be crushed when he can't go to the Monday afternoon active group any more. Fingers crossed the weather's good tomorrow and I'll take him to the park tomorrow instead.
