Fledglings “March” 31 steps away from CHAOS and mess towards domestic success...

... well, a shiny sink at least!!

Welcome to the March 2012 Fledgling Flyers thread. Park your mops, buckets and microfibre cloths here!!

A huge "thank you" to Linzer for steering us all through February - not a small achievement Linzer considering your school run/teaching commitments and with your dh travelling so frequently.

If you're house is a mess and you are strugging with C.H.A.O.S. (can't have anyone over syndrome) and S.T.U.F.F. (something that undermines family fun) then this is the thread where we (loosely) follow the step-by-step Flylady housekeeping system (in our own, unique, relaxed style) with lots of chat, whinging (in my case anyway Wink) and support along the way.

We advise not signing up to receive the Flylady e-mails as you will be inundated! All the information you need will be linked here on a daily basis.

From the first of the month, we will be following Flylady's tips on restoring order to our homes, and as we are all at different stages we will be using one of the following methods:

Here you can, for one month:

  • repeat or start baby steps
  • repeat baby steps + do 15 mins a day decluttering in the current zone
  • reinforce babysteps and do daily missions if you have finished decluttering.

More info here and here!

All long-standing members, intermittent returnees, lurkers and newcomers welcome!!

Evening all,

Was hoping to be able to catch up with everyone with a few personals, but you've all been chatting far too much! It's taken me long enough just to read everyone's posts. Grin

Thanks for all the get well wishes. I'm finally starting to feel OK again this evening, after spending all of yesterday in bed and most of today feeling quite weak and lacking in energy. I haven't managed to achieve much other than tidy the girls' desks (with DH's help), but it was quite a mammoth task and long overdue - so it was at least something. (I get them to do it themselves most of the time, but this involved quite a lot of decluttering and also putting old school boxes and exercises books into boxes to go into the cellar).

Will come back tomorrow to catch up with everyone, as hopefully I'll have a bit more time then and DH won't be loitering.

ToffeeWhirl · 11/03/2012 18:34

If you feel you want Wine then it's a good idea, Linzer. That's my mantra, anyway Wink.

MummyNickleby · 11/03/2012 19:05

Evening Smile
Hope everyone has had a good weekend.
All I have done is:
Make Sunday dinner
Wash the windows outside - don't get too excited, I live in a previously foggy bungalow Smile

Can't keep up with personals as I use my phone to log on, so can't remember names - situations Blush

Jamillalliamilli · 11/03/2012 20:06

Sorted out the food that went off while we were running around, but as fast as I started planning catching up on the domestic front tomorrow, got talked into taking someone else?s child out for half of it. Must learn to think before answering!

Have just discovered that fennel, leeks, and cabbage, roasted with black pepper and chilli flakes, works.

Toffee unless you were seeking a statement?s provision to be ?educated otherwise than at school? (this can be done if there?s no suitable provision, contrary to what?s often believed) then home ed negates the need/ use for a statement.

Who knows, anecdotally it seems most Lea?s are in the process of attempting to phase out statements or issue (non enforceable) note in lieu, so general view?s sooner rather than later. I?d be interested to know if your workshop thinks the same. People probably wont need any help from me but I didn?t want to sit here not admitting I know about that part of it, while others were going through the learning curve.

Mummy Nic I think most of us are in the same boat with trying to keep up with lots of people. :)

ToffeeWhirl · 11/03/2012 20:23

So confusing. So what happens, JustGetting, if I manage to get a statement whilst DS is off school but still registered, but then decide, for his mental health, to educate him at home for a couple of years? Does his statement then run out and I have to start all over again? Confused

WhoKnowsWhereTheTimeGoes · 11/03/2012 20:40

Just - my LEA have got a leaflet abut something called Inclusion Partnership Agreements which they are clearly trying to get people to accept in place of statements, the front page lists all the benefits to the child of having one instead of a statement, it would be funny if it wasn't so annoying. Our HT told me about them, saying you get all the same support. Well, that may be true at our school (and it probably is to be fair, they are very good at supporting SENs) but a friend had one of these for her son when he started secondary and the secondary just swept it aside and haven't implemented anything, because they don't have to. I'd be happy to apply now TBH, but just cannot think how to justify that the school cannot meet his needs, because they are being met to a large extent, I think it's only a matter of time till they aren't though.

Linzer - glad you are feeling a bit better, I've had a stinking cold this week so I'm behind with the housework, haven't been running, anything really.

MummyN - enjoy Paultons, it's a while since we've been (we're about an hour away), not so much fun now we can't go in term time and avoid the crowds.

Scatty - well done to DD, my DD had her first ballet show last summer I was so proud I could have burst! She's got her first exam in a couple of weeks (gulp).

sanguinechompa · 11/03/2012 20:48

Chitchat so sorry to hear your DS2 is unwell, hope he recovers quickly

Swan hope you can catch up on some sleep tonight after sleepover yesterday

Bitchy am v. impressed with your forward planning. ( I haven't done today's list yet ..never mind turned my thoughts to tomorrow!) Sorry about wasted trip to Tesco. (Think disappointing Sunday shopping is worse than disappointing shopping on a weekday somehow!!)

Nettie yet again your post made me cackle (apologies - I know I shouldn't be cackling at prospect of your ils returning early) but it's like one of those 'home alone' films!! Hope you get it all sorted in time.

MummyNickleby big appreciative sighs re: lie-in and Brad Pitt of a washing line Grin

Justgettingonwithit goodness, that all sounds extremely stressful. Hope things calm down for you soon Wine

Toffeemore appreciative sighs at "making potions out of leaves and blossom, making shops out of leaves and logs, etc" Sounds totally fab! (Good luck with dog choice - difficult but lovely decision to be making Smile) I love terriers too but I don't think they are the easiest breed to train ....

Huge waves to Whoknows from a fellow lover of greyhounds!

Scatty hope your dh and ds returned safely, and congrats to your dd on her show!

Sorry to hear your world is spinning MrsUrsa but top marks for cleaning oven nonetheless (and on a Sunday too)!

Proffers more Wine to Linzer Good to hear you are on the mend! Smile

Waves to Honu

Whoknows sorry to hear you are suffering, here's to a speedy delivery

All of you who are dealing with statementing issues: sorry the process is so horribly complicated and fraught with stress. I know nothing about it but it just seems so plain WRONG. Feel Angry on your behalf. Hope your workshop helps a bit and proves productive and enjoy your meet up Smile

I need urgent help I am getting evicted by Stadium Housing Association tomorrow 11.30 am because I was chair of Residents Association and was helping vulnerable residents in my local community and neighbourhood. I am very sick, disabled, had a heart attack, heart surgery, tachychardia, arithmia, diabetes, severe anemia. I cannot walk almost at all. I am single mother of 13 year old son and known local campaigner. Stadium used the chance when my GP informed them I was sick to fraudulently obtain possession order and eviction order knowing I won't be able to come to fight my case. All my neighbours are supporting me and we need some media presence to see what they are doing to people who help others

sanguinechompa · 11/03/2012 21:07

**

OK everyone, here we go again ...

Baby step number twelve for tomorrow, Monday 12th March is

here and is really a consolidation of previous routines and continuing to build cj step by step. (Plus deleting e-mails but if you haven't joined the Big Tent then you don't have to.)

Tomorrow, we will be in Zone 3 here. This link contains detailed cleaning list + scroll down for Fly spot.

Tomorrow's mission is here tossing old medicine bottles, cosmetics etc (be brutal!)

As you know, the daily focus for Monday is the home bleuuggghhh!!! here Can you believe that has come around again.

Just occurred to me that I have not been posting reminders, so here they are!

Hope all this is making sense to newcomers!

Have a good Monday everyone!!

Sorry to hear this Jasna How horrible for you. Happy to help. What can we do (practically and specifically) to help you?

OP posts:
BitchyNoMore · 11/03/2012 21:10

Am sorry Jasna not sure exactly what you are hoping to gain from this post. perhaps you might be better to start a new thread else where with a post that is a bit clearer. there is a media section here

MummyNickleby · 11/03/2012 21:11

I agree, days out at Paultons is def nicer in term time.
I'm planning to buy an annual pass tomorrow as DS isn't quite 1m yet (I think...)
We are about 30mins away but I'll be cruising at 60mph on the M27 to conserve fuel... This is unheard of from me as I tend to be a-2-b as fast as I can (keeping safe though), but I have 2 cars and I'll not be risking my RS in a car park full of kids Wink

BitchyNoMore · 11/03/2012 21:12

SC have pm'ed you.

Jasna · 11/03/2012 21:25

if you know any journalist or even sending message to Justine or Katie would help to let as many people as possible to know what is happening and what can happen to anyone

WhoKnowsWhereTheTimeGoes · 11/03/2012 21:29

I've reported your post to MNHQ Jasna, they are in a better position to help than individual posters.

elliepac · 11/03/2012 21:29

Evening all! No, I haven't sloped off into flying anonymity again, not quite the middle of the month yet Wink. Dsis and I plus dc's have been up to the caravan this weekend and had the most lovely time helped by rather fantastic weather. We drove up Friday night and spent yesterday tramping around Dalby Forest, although I appreciate many of you won't have a clue where that is Grin. It was bloody marvellous to get away from it all and get the dc's away from screens, noise etc .

We bird spotted, tree spotted, lamb spotted and frog spotted and played pooh sticks. As we were wandering through the forest, I had one of those moments where I realised I am turning into my parents as I was having an in depth discussion with DS about what catkins were and why frogs are amphibious. DD did brilliantly as it was a 3 mile walk which was quite a trek for her little legs. Realised we should do it more often but life has a habit of getting in the way. Today we went swimming this morning, picnicked in the park at lunch and then spent the best part of the afternoon on the beach before heading home. All seems a world away now however as I attempt to get ready for the morning. Grin.

We are currently waiting with bated breath to see if DD has caught chicken pox. BF's DD has them and we have seen her in the contagious period just before the spots came out. DS had them at 4 months which means I don't have to worry about him (best time to get them imo. He didn't have the co-ordination to scratch Grin).

So far all I have managed to do is catch up with The Walking Dead. Must....try....harder.

BitchyNoMore · 11/03/2012 21:34

Jasna - you can send a message to HQ, justin etc if you email them on their contact us email address: [email protected]

or you could check out the contact info here

Am afraid that you have posted on a very limited thread. This is not the best place for your thread. I have suggested another place for you to start your own thread or you could start one in chat. More poster will see it. However, I agree with whoknows. You can report your own post too to bring it to the attention of HQ.

sanguinechompa · 11/03/2012 21:34

jasna I'm not based in the UK so I'm afraid I don't know any journalists on local newspapers (which I think would be your best bet)

As Bitchy suggested, perhaps you could start a thread in the media section, or ask advice from media types on here as to what would be your best tactic as to how to contact your lcoal newspaper/how to raise awareness through social networks etc etc

I'd be happy to help to raise awareness but I don't know anything about you (not being snippy - genuine question - don't know your location/circumstances/context of story etc etc.

I think your best bet would be to start a thread of your own - explain clearly what is happening to you. I realise this is difficult when you are understandably feeling very distressed and are under time pressures etc but I think people need more details in order to help effectively ifyswim.

Good luck. I'm sorry you are going through such a horrible time.

Am I allowed to pop my head around the door and wave a cheery hello to you all? Grin

WhoKnowsWhereTheTimeGoes · 11/03/2012 21:41

Of course you are PA, was just thinking about you today. How are you and your lovely family?

BitchyNoMore · 11/03/2012 21:43

Bloody hell PA. Long time no see. How are the great adventure plans going?

Ellie Envy

Jasna · 11/03/2012 21:46

I am under enormous pressure, have contacted all local politicians, my MP has called on my behalf (Westminster North), Westminster Councillors have been helping, they all know me and locally I am known as a person people go to when they need help. This is the first time I am asking help for myself and I am ashamed to do it (for anyone else I will fight to death). i always worked very hard, studied medicine, then went into direction of finance, worked as financial analyst but always wanting to help others. I came to this country 19 years ago as refugee and felt it was my duty to give back a lot of the country and people who let me in and gave me chance in life. Hence my community involvement. But Stadium hates me because for example they had to connect plumbing pies so neighbours homes are not flooding forcing them to do their job hence they used first opportunity to seek revenge on me

sanguinechompa · 11/03/2012 21:48

Yay! PA How are you???? [Flaps wings excitedly] How are things?

Ellie yet more appreciative/vicarious sighs at "bird spotted, tree spotted, lamb spotted and frog spotted and played pooh stick" Sounds totally idyllic Smile Hope your dd OK.
