Scout19075 · 17/02/2012 19:22

Yes. I got this grill as well as some pots for Christmas. I'm trying to figure out if I need to do anything to the grill before I use it. My thread asking the question has gone unloved and I'd like to use my grill for my burgers tonight.

liveinazoo · 17/02/2012 19:34

scout being cast iron i dont think it needs to be treated before use.didnt it come with any care instructions?

bessie26 · 17/02/2012 19:36

READ THIS scout

carrotsandcelery · 17/02/2012 19:37

Nice Christmas gift Scout. From what I know you need to keep an eye on the oil level in LeCrueset or things will stick as there is no non stick to it. They are the luxury end of all cookware and often given as wedding gifts. I don't have any though. I would put it in soak very quickly as they don't stay beautiful very easily I don't think.

Stables in the dark as the school is flood lit, the stable block is lit and the flood lights extend from the school enough for you to more or less feel your way to the field to put the horses out afterwards (her lesson is the last of the day).

Riding schools round here have to do all this or not teach through the week as it is more or less dark when they come out of school on the shortest days and definitely dark for the secondary kids. It was still light when they started and it wasn't pitch black, although very dark, when we put the horses out.

bessie is she trying to say Calpol? It's something you might give to take teething pain and nappy rash pain away maybe? Has she just made it up? Little ones do just invent words of their own for things to make sense of the world. Dd used to talk about "putts" and it took us ages to realise she was talking about breaking wind and was talking phonetically Blush They are still called that or pops in our house to this day Grin

liveinazoo · 17/02/2012 19:40

nice one bessieGrin

did you sort out about the beans the other day?

liveinazoo · 17/02/2012 19:46

ah carrots that makes sense

hows your house.youve been very busy!have you had any flying time?

have kids settled back at school ok/i hate it when they go back at virtually end of the week.im just getting back into the routine of it all when the weekend rols roundHmm

bessie26 · 17/02/2012 19:53

Yeah bean issues all sorted

I think DD1 must be talking about teething gel (teathing gel?) as we were talking about it this morning & it comes in a tube like bum cream!

Just had a nosey, next week's zone is the bedroom - hope she doesn't want me to clear out under the bed!!

BlackCatTryingToFly · 17/02/2012 19:56

night BC
hope you get some rest and feel better tomorrow.x

night all!

carrotsandcelery · 17/02/2012 20:00

zoo the house is pretty bad really. It has been really busy. Somewhere in between would be nice but it seems to be all or nothing. I know I am happier if I have stuff going on though so I will try to find a balance. The kitchen table (and kitchen in general), landing and ds's room are particularly bad -the rest is just 10 min rescue level.

Ds spent a lot of today crying at school it seems. Sad I suspect he is exhausted as although he says he got up at 4am or similar I think that some nights it is much earlier. We see the psychologists again on Friday so will see what they say. Dd is suffering too as he often wakes her up.

I am so tired I have the shivers so I know how he feels.

Scout19075 · 17/02/2012 20:03

Good night, BC.

Thanks bessie. I had that before but confused myself. All is a bit clearer now. Decided to wait until another night to try my new fancy pan.

Yes, I must admit to being very spoiled at Christmas. Blush MrScout, and his family, for all of their hoarding tendancies are good gifters. I get a lot of lovely cooking and baking things from all of them (and in turn they all benefit).

I was hoping to be in bed by 10 tonight but American Idol doesn't start until 9 and I haven't dared to look to see when it finishes.

Making dinner --burgers, chips & veg. What did everyone else have?

bessie26 · 17/02/2012 20:07

carrots does he wake her up by being noisy or does he actually go wake her up? Would ear plugs help her?

I thought he was doing well on the staying-in-bed thing? Has it all gone to pot over half-term?

zoo my bedroom is a tip, so I NEED the missions. I still have my pre-pg clothes stored under the bed, I'm going through them a few at a time to decide if they still fit I still like them or not.

DH is home with take-away!

carrotsandcelery · 17/02/2012 20:14

bessie he has stopped coming and waking us up but we have realised that he is getting up and is getting earlier and earlier. I am dreading the light mornings as it will be even worse then.

He sometimes goes and wakes dd up and sometimes is just noisy enough to wake her (and sometimes that is accidentally on purpose).

It was the fact that he woke her up that got us into this mess as we always ended up bringing him downstairs so that she could at least sleep. I did bring it up with the psychologist last time but she sort of implied it was tough Shock I am not sure I can be that brutal.

I have discovered a bag of Kettle Chips and a tub of houmous so am sitting on the sofa decluttering them and pretending I am middle class Grin

carrotsandcelery · 17/02/2012 20:14

Night BC. I hope you have a peaceful sleep tonight.

Scout19075 · 17/02/2012 20:45

I'm still hungry. Sad

carrotsandcelery · 17/02/2012 20:51

You can have my kettle chips and houmous Scout. I have had to put them in the kitchen as I was going to make myself ill Grin

carrotsandcelery · 17/02/2012 21:15

Oh dear! We have had to light some candles to counteract Twilight's "emissions". That is something to look forward to in old age then? Grin

Scout19075 · 17/02/2012 21:18

Cheers, carrots. I've made myself a RL salad with dressing from home (yum!).

carrotsandcelery · 17/02/2012 21:25

Sounds a lot healthier Scout.

Scout19075 · 17/02/2012 21:27

Gotta counteract the burger. Grin

bessie26 · 17/02/2012 22:15

oh feck, I'm just watching TV (a thing about people in the rainforest) & not writing my meal plan thing. Laptop will run out of juice soon too

carrotsandcelery · 17/02/2012 22:20

What's in the freezer bessie? Have you got enough to fill a lot of it with freezer food?

Our eating has been all wonky since half term and now my skin is showing signs of the strain. I am back to healthy meal planning next week. We were so much healthier on more lentils and beans. It makes me feel much livelier and happier too.

bessie26 · 17/02/2012 22:34

Most of the freezer food is curry & chilli-type stuff, not really stuff that the DC (or rather, fussy DD1) will eat. I am finding I can re-use more meal plans now, so at least it's a bit easier than it was before xmas!
