Well done JKS bet you got loads done.

DD is being particularly unco-operative at the moment and it is getting v tedious. We are trying a pasta jar (every time she is good she gets a piece of pasta in the jar and when it is full she gets a present). Unfortunately I don't think she really understands.

  1. Change name back to recognisable slattern. done
  2. Online food shop done
  3. Pay school lunch money
  4. Get new tyres on car
  5. other stuff
  6. Wash car
  7. Sort money out done
  8. Use up Next vouchers for kids clothes done Vitamins etc.

Tidy house for having friends round. Lounge done
Bathroom / Kitchen / Dining room done

I am really tired after looking after DD and cooking brownies for this eve so trying to summon up the strength to do a bit more tidying then get changed and be sociable.

OP posts:
JKSLtd · 08/09/2012 19:40

HMHB - how old is DD? Can you tweak it slightly so start with a full jar, remove a piece of pasta (small jar, big bits of pasta needed for this though). At the end of the day/week/whatever she gets as many choc buttons as there are pieces left?

DS2 doesn't get stuff like this so we can't bribe him easily, damnit!
No signs of hope re bath yet. If we even get him to brush his teeth in the bathroom while the water's running it's an achievement.

Off out all day tomorrow so no list really, just make sure we're ready for school on Monday.

Sat:

  • all up, dressed & breakfasted DONE
  • DS2 footie with DH DONE
  • football for DS1 at his school DONE
  • DD nap DONE
  • lunch & tidy up DONE
  • afternoon; gardening & lego DONE
  • washing in Most DONE, ironed & put away
  • tea & tidy up DONE
  • DC bath again & bed (try and get DS2 in...) DONE

Ongoing:

Everything is a phase, this too shall pass and all that :)

HalfMumHalfBiscuit · 10/09/2012 19:42

Hi JKS another week eh.

In John Lewis, for the first time ever, the assistant actually said DD didn't need new shoes as her feet were the right size for the ones she was wearing. In Clarkes recently I ended up with 2 new pairs. 1 red patent pair only because there were no others in her size and because of the unpractical nature of these I had to get some doodle pumps as well! Expensive! Hmm

Tonight we are trying to get DD to put her clothes out for tomorrow to avoid the PITA mornings when she doesn't want to wear ANYTHING!

  1. Online food shop - again (de ja vu)
  2. Pay school lunch money
  3. Get new tyres on car
  4. other stuff
  5. Wash car
  6. Money to beavers and fill in form
  7. Money for swimming for DS
  8. Present for friend in NZ Vitamins etc.
OP posts:
HalfMumHalfBiscuit · 10/09/2012 19:54

How do you make a 2yo brush their teeth if they don't want to. DD currently in naughty corner.

OP posts:
JKSLtd · 10/09/2012 21:42

I'd give up entirely for a few days just don't even mention it. Try and figure out what exactly is the prob, eg toothpaste - try letting her brush with just a wet brush for a bit.
Aim low in other words.

Remember those teeth don't have to last Grin

HalfMumHalfBiscuit · 10/09/2012 22:14

I know what you mean about the milk teeth. Its very easy to think ah well, they'll get new ones soon.

Anyway, what happened in the end was that she happily used DH's toothbrush (unsavory) then I brushed mine (with my own toothbrush!) and said they looked nice and shiny and of course she wanted shiny teeth so hers it herself. Approx 2 hours later, she is in bed.

She doesn't like the toothpaste either, well guessed!

Hello JKS and HMHB! I need to get back to this thread. DS1 has his first day at school tomorrow and I am still up sewing name tapes into his socks...

Sympathies on the teeth, it is a total PITA. We are very hardline about teeth - I have in the past wrapped DS1 in a towel and held him while I brushed, and he got the message in about 3 days that it was non-negotiable and we've had no problems since. DS2 is so far ok about having his done, although we have a brush that he holds and another that we use to brush.

DH off work tomorrow so I doubt much will get done. Hoping to possibly tackle the duvet and suitcase cupboard which has become a massive Area of Doom.

I will be back later in the week with a List!

HalfMumHalfBiscuit · 10/09/2012 22:47

Hi Ali. LOL at wrapping DS in a towel to brush his teeth. It did cross my mind. Like when we have to give the cat medicine. v funny.

OP posts:
Alibabaandthe40nappies · 10/09/2012 23:13

We had to do it one other time when he stuffed some lettuce up his nose. That really was a nightmare, took two of us to hold him still while my Dad fished it out with a pair of tweezers (he is a Dr and used to minor surgery so not as random as it sounds!). DS was quite young but remembers and has no desire to repeat the scenario!

HalfMumHalfBiscuit · 11/09/2012 19:53

Ali - another classic. Lettuce of all things!

The DC's are doing that really annoying thing of coming back downstairs after you put them to bed. Soooo annoying (especially when I have just made myself a coffee and sat on the sofa).

  1. Online food shop or normal food shop tomorrow
  2. Pay school lunch money
  3. Get new tyres on car
  4. Ring re birthday party done, cancel after school club thurs
  5. Wash car
  6. Money to beavers and fill in form
  7. Money for swimming for DS
  8. Present for friend in NZ Vitamins etc.

Hello I am still here! Mornings are a disaster now I have to leave the house at 8.20 for the school run, so I'm not getting a chance to do a list.

Have joined the gym this morning.

HalfMumHalfBiscuit · 17/09/2012 15:57

Go Ali, well done on joining the Gym. I went swimming at lunchtime, 2 weeks in a row! How long this will last I don't know Hmm

OP posts:
JKSLtd · 17/09/2012 21:38

New thread is a good idea - autumn decluttering & listmaking....or something?

Busy here, plumber took bathroom to pieces & put it back together, then took sink off wall in downstairs loo and hasn't put it back as old taps are cemented to the sink and won't come off. So, new sink needed, sigh.

DS1 doing lots of out-of-sch (but at sch) clubs to try out various things, badminton & karate today :)

DD on ABs for an infected fingernail bed, ouch, looks bad, but she's not bothered - just have to remember the drugs now, only managed 1 dose today. oops.

HalfMumHalfBiscuit · 19/09/2012 16:29

JKS - we had a similar sink incident which resulted in lovely antique basin getting smashed as we tried to replace the taps. I feel your pain.

DD on nightmare behaviour last night, and guess what she's a little angel this morning! I'm going to have to take the bedtime routine very slowly to see if we can improve. V stressful though.

  1. Pay school lunch money done
  2. Get new tyres on car
  3. Wash car
  4. Money to beavers and fill in form
  5. Money for swimming for DS
  6. Present for friend in NZ

JKS what a pain about the sink. I have got a growing list of domestic things that need attending to, I must make some phone calls and get organised.
