FreakoidOrganisoid · 24/06/2012 20:06

Jks I think just because i knew i needed to get the learning diaries done, the thank yous were hanging over me in a doom like way(its taken us a month) and everywhere i looked there was mess and stuff needing doing. When it's like that I don't know where to start and need the list to work through things in a calmer way.

Learning diaries took me nearly SIX hours. Six unpaid hours at that. Still they're up to date again now.

Managed to somehow wash my phone bill in the second load so all clothes came out papier mached. Need to rewash to try and get the bits of paper off

Other than that have hoovered, mopped and tidied so it's not too bad now, need to dust and do windows tomorrow, also clean handprints and smudges off walls as i noticed a few today. And only sat down 4 mins too late for kick off so not too bad

JKSLtd · 24/06/2012 20:12

Well done Freak - i know that feeling of not knowing where to start. The main thing is just to get started I guess!

Though I don't really have a clue what these learning diaries are though! Thought it might be something your DC do at sch but then you say it's unpaid so guessing it's to do with work?

Visited a good friend's house today, the first time i've been there though i've known her for ages. Blimey...her house is a mess!!! And i don't mean just kids toys here and there, stuff everywhere. And tbh not that clean either. She has 3 DC & a dog and she works p-t so i am sympathetic, to an extent. But honestly, i couldn't live like that and it makes my house feel positively domestic-goddess-minimalist!

FreakoidOrganisoid · 24/06/2012 20:26

Grin jks my friends house is like that too, mine always feels really clean when I've been there.

Learning diaries are the folders preschools and nursery etc use to keep a record of everything the child does really. So all my observations have to be written up and put in them, photos stuck in, worksheets put in etc etc. It's not that hard but time consuming especially as all observations have to fit the EYFS which includes a lot of referencing back and forth for me!

JKSLtd · 24/06/2012 20:44

Ah that makes sense - if it helps, the parents love them! Just been looking through DS1's from his pre-sch the other day, made me go awww :)

Dh was shown upstairs, not really sure why tbh, as he said it was even worse, the boys share and you can't walk in their room Shock the DD is older and is slightly better, but not much.

I wonder what she thinks when she comes here....?
ie; right now on the living room floor (apart from furniture obv) there is:
2 x toy golf clubs from DS1
2 x Wii remotes helpfully pulled out by DD
DD's bigger baby things, trolley, piano, etc
my slippers
a muslin
and that's it.

2 secs and it'd be clear (well apart from DD's big toys).

JKSLtd · 24/06/2012 20:47

That sounds too smug, sorry.
The playroom is more of a mess, esp as DS1 was mid 'set up' at bedtime.

But DH said even if we tipped all the boys clothes, books & toys they have upstairs all over their room, it would still look tidy compared to friend's sons room.

I wonder what that does to kids though, there's the extreme of no toys out anywhere that i can't think does them good at all, but too much mess? I wonder if the kids mind?

JKSLtd · 25/06/2012 10:14

Rubbish night's sleep (for no reason) means i'm not my usual Monday-positive self.

Must drag me & DD out somewhere this morning though to achieve something...
