Sunshine anon? Not here it isn't Sad

Friend dropped her dses here at 745 this morning, took the big two to school and the little two to toddler group this morning, now entertaining the little two at home before going to school to pick up another FOUR children. Must be mad! The good thing about having other people's children is that you feel completely justified in doing no housework or jobs at all Grin

AnonymousBird · 22/02/2012 08:58

No sunshine today, sadly.

Really noticing my brand very bloody expensive new DW being on the blink, grrrrrr, have had two supper parties in the last 4 days and by god washing it all up is a real real drag. That's it though, it's just the four of us now for the next week or so (and lots and lots of one pot cooking!) so it will be easier until the engineer comes......

Ooh anon me too, failed last time. Shall we support each other?

Had very nice eve with Boy last night, there was a good snogging session too. No dc this weekend so am seeing him tomorrow night as well Smile

court have declined my application for decree nisi due to xh imposing conditions on divorce and not ticking a box on form Angry Have to reapply.

He's also been made redundant which selfishly I am stressing about because it means no more money from him for dc, going to have to be very frugal now which isn't a great prospect as I am already very careful. We'll survive but it means no more days out/trips/clothes/wine/chocolate etc. Basically no fun.

Freaki - happy to be nail not biting buddies... I put some stop and grow on yesterday and I must say that it has reminded me a couple of times to stop, so hopefully I may be able to do it - at least just to get them looking neat, even if short. Just vaguely respectable!!!

Glad things going well with your boy, but sorry to hear DH been crap on the forms...

List out the window today, but have had a fairly productive day so all good. And most crucially, my concertina folding doors onto the garden now hang straight so open easier and I want to get them open again SOON!!!

FreakoidOrganisoid · 24/02/2012 11:21

I need to start using the stop and grow stuff again,I keep putting it off though as I find it makes eating difficult!

Out on a proper date with the boy tonight Smile

JKSLtd · 24/02/2012 12:30

ANon - we'd love some doors like that out the back, are they fab? Probably not had much chance to use them yet I guess. Friends have some the full width of their huge kitchen/family room out onto a deck and I love them.
We have slightly 80's style double-glazing-with-twiddlw-coloured-bits doors with windows on the sides. Does mean though that if you just want to open a window you can't it has to be a whole door.
Same problem with the concertinas I expect?

Been to PTA AGM, but cancelling BF meeting as DD is asleep and I love the peace/don't want to wake her cos she'll be grumpy!

Fri:

  • morning stuff DONE
  • TA AGM at DS2's sch DONE
  • BF meeting nope

  • tidy kitchen, dw on, wm on, etc
  • bake marble loaf using new Lakeland tin :)
  • sch runs, reading, etc
  • poss park if nice enough

Our folding doors are truly fantastic. We actually put them in when we moved here, 5 years ago, and they survived the recent overhaul and I absolutely bloody love them, it just extends the house into the garden... heavenly in the summer.

Yes, it does mean either one (or four!) doors open, but I have them open all the time, even if it means I have to wear a cardy! Just to get the air and the view out into the garden.... (luckily south/east facing for maximum sunlight) And no windows down the sides, all just lovely lovely open space between me on the sofa and the great outdoors... (you can tell I rather like them hey?!?!? Smile)

No list today. DH had the day off pottering in the garden in the sunshine, and I was helping my friend set up for her big 4-oh party tomorrow night... It's going to be fun, but boy it's going to messy I know already......

JKSLtd · 25/02/2012 20:08

Woo-hoooooooooo Freaki!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

JKSLtd · 26/02/2012 15:48

Freak - that is so good to hear, a slow burner but hopefully a long & fun relationship to be had :)

Anon - hmm our kitchen/back of the house is north-facing. Big mistake but we had no idea about this sort of stuff moving from a flat & we do love the house but...if we ever move it will def NOT be north-facing again. Or a semi but that's another story.
I would still love to have them, it would mean getting more/new steps out onto the patio as there is a drop down and only steps where the doors are now.
We also would love to knock down the wall in the extension part of the house between the kitchen & living room, change the ceiling (flat roof) to a more conservatory-stylr glass roof for more light.

Smile I hope so. Had a really nice meal out fri, I stayed at his house, then we had a really nice day out yesterday too.

Loving the sunshine this weekend!

Minimammoth · 26/02/2012 16:30

Ah spring must be in the air. Power cut today, so have been mostly gardening. Have planted onions and done loads of weeding so feeling very virtuous,.
Doing a first aid course tomorrow. Stayin' alive Stayin' alive a a a ah

Alibabaandthe40nappies · 26/02/2012 18:43

Hi everyone :) Lovely weekend at my brother's wedding, boys behaved brilliantly and everyone was saying how lovely they were and how well behaved Grin
We are all shattered now, just gearing up for tomorrow and then off to bed.

Freak that is brilliant Grin

Anon I am v.covetous of doors like that also. I don't think they would work on this house unfortunately!

JKS - we also have big plans and no money!! Grin Although we know we want to move from here because it really isn't big enough downstairs even if we get the planning to extend upstairs. We could put a conservatory, but not a very big one and our plot is a bit oddly shaped which means we have to be careful not to lose our side access.

List for tomorrow:

  • finish unpacking
  • laundry
  • check numbers for DS2's party and decide about food (caterer? Waitrose? me?)
  • write diary for the class dragon ready to go back on Tuesday
  • DENTAL FORMS

that will do for starters

JKSLtd · 26/02/2012 19:46

That's always the question isn't it, spend money on where you already are (with the associated builder's mess & hassle) or move to somewhere else.

We haven't the money for either anyway so a silly discussion Grin

Alibabaandthe40nappies · 26/02/2012 21:52

JKS - yes exactly. And then DH starts talking about when we will need to replace my car... Hmm

I am going to add your 'general tidy up' to my list for tomorrow. I've spent 20 minutes this evening sorting a few bits but the place is a mess and just glancing round now I think I need to spend about an hour rehoming random items!

Both the boys are still awake HmmHmm It was to be expected because they both napped solidly for the 2 hours it took us to drive home this afternoon and we got here at 4.45pm. I thought we had got DS1 down, but he is bouncing around up there and keeps yelling for us. I'm afraid we've been in once but then have closed the door and are ignoring for a while to see what happens! T is down here with me, I'm hoping a short playtime and a drink of water will help him settle when I try again in 10 minutes.
DH has done something to his toe, and seems unable to do much Hmm

Alibabaandthe40nappies · 26/02/2012 21:52

That was a lot of Hmm faces!! I am actually quite cheerful, honest! Grin
