JKS - Poor you and DH, and DS. GOSH line of communication sounds good - hope they can help and are in touch soon.

Sending you hugs too and thinking of you... happy birthday for monday anyway, understandable that it was all a bit low key (all mine are these days......)

No lists yet except today I must:

  • Laundry and ironing
  • Emergency supermarket grab today/tomorrow
JKSLtd · 08/02/2012 12:13

Well his consultant in GOSH emailed and was very reassuring so we are calming down a bit i think :) She thinks it does not affect his long-term prognosis or his development which is great news.
Both consultants (here & GOSH) are bringing forward appts but no rush for tests or meds.
So we just need him not to do it again!

Still feeling crappy with cough & cold so not up to much today.

Today:

  • lunch & tidy up
  • tackle some piles of paper on my desk Started
  • maybe start filing?
  • no orch as feeling too rough texted to cancel
  • collect DS1, reading, etc
  • DS2 home, check bag
  • chill out, tea, tidy up, DC to bed
  • DH home late

Ongoing:

  • watch Prison Break DVDs & give back to PIL; Started; Done more
  • get kitchen curtains dry cleaned; take down Thurs (too cold to do earlier)
  • family tree (scanning in old certs & photos & email new contact)
  • buy some frames that will hang on the wall & hang up as many photos as poss; need some sizes
  • sort iPhoto on laptop; Book Genius appt
  • bathroom cabinet needs sorting
  • Spring Cleaning: sort through bedding
  • lose weight! (From: 66kg; Target: 54kg); Scales said 64.0
  • book bowling for orchestra social; Have emailed committee
  • sort wills
  • write to sponsored child (been crap for ages)
  • toys needs a good sorting out (have put up some new shelves, may need to get some more storage boxes)
AnonymousBird · 08/02/2012 12:46

JKS - so relieved for you that you've had a message and that they are reassuring you.... sorry you are feeling poorly still - that is just what you don't need.

We are now on Day 10 of at least one of us being flu-ridden... DD, thankfully, now seems fully restored. DS being a bit slow to really throw it off and DH and I are now over the worst but I see several days of general bleugh and fog persisting!!!

Supposed to be at a party on Saturday, and currently, just cannot imagine it!

Alibabaandthe40nappies · 08/02/2012 13:56

JKS that is good news! :)

Anon - proper flu is horrid and really hangs about. I get so annoyed when people who have got a cold say 'oh I had the flu over the weekend' and then they are all better and sprightly 3 days later. If you are over it that quickly then it wasn't the flu!! Hope you are all back on form soon.

Just been sorting the mealplan and shop for next week. DH has another job interview this afternoon.

FreakoidOrganisoid · 08/02/2012 17:09

Ali that pisses me off too, especially as exh does it, he never has a cold it's always "a bad flu".

JKS glad the consultant has reassured you a bit.

Saw the date from 2 weeks ago again today Smile, he took me bowling then for lunch. Is definitely very easy to be with, no awkwardness (even with my shockingly bad score!) and seems to be a genuinely nice person. I overheard the elderly man in the next lane at bowling telling him how lovely I was Grin He went for a snog at the end but only got a peck on the lips (I don't snog boys in cars outside my house!). Everyone keeps telling me that the lack of instant spark isn't necessarily a problem so watch this space...

JKSLtd · 08/02/2012 20:01

Freak - that sounds promising :)

DS2 now adding to the 'fun' - he's got my cough, so wheezing away. Gone to bed early with Calpol (in case of temp spike) & blue inhaler. Got neurofen, inhaler, drink, etc lined up - expecting a bad night.

DH stuck on some train with problems.
Snow forecast for Fri when we are meant to be driving to Devon to stay with my parents for a few days....Hmm x lots.

Minimammoth · 09/02/2012 08:21

Hope your night went well.JKS.
My work place heating has broken, Tuesday when I went in it was b. freezing. Why could it not have happened in the summer? Not looking forward to dealing with various moans and giving apols.
Hey hum.

AnonymousBird · 09/02/2012 09:38

Ali - what is in your meal plan???? I need to do ours for next 5-7 days and go shopping this afternoon!

All it consists of so far is "something pie" as I have some puff pastry in the fridge!

JKS - hope the night was ok.....

Freaki - does sound like things are going well...... just because you don't want to rip his clothes off the instant you see him doesn't mean he's not the right guy! Good on you.

Are we supposed to get more snow does anyone know? ON the radio, they said snow "sweeping across the country" but my BBC forecast on the internet (Essex) doesn't seem to be indicating much by way of snow, just never ending cold.....

Alibabaandthe40nappies · 09/02/2012 10:30

It is freezing here this morning, and I am not well. It is just a cold but I'm achey with it and would love someone to come and spirit my children away for a few hours so that I can sleep!

Freak - that does sound really promising, keep us posted! :)

Anon -

Fri - spag bol
Sat - gnocchi for lunch, and then 'tea-time' which is sausage rolls (made from great british bake off recipe), sarnies and cake
Sun - roast chicken
Mon - leftovers from the freezer for the boys, things on toast for us
Tue - marinated pork steaks with mash and veg
Wed - meatballs and pasta
Thurs - fish and chips

Not massively inspiring, and I may well swap in fish for monday's haphazard effort if I see something nice.

I cannot galvanise myself at all. I have a small hill of paperwork that needs dealing with...

FreakoidOrganisoid · 09/02/2012 10:50

Anon are there any butter bean recipes in your hfw book? Am using up and have 2 cans in the cupboard (me and ds like them as they are but dd isn't so keen because they remind her of potato Hmm)

FreakoidOrganisoid · 09/02/2012 11:02

thislooks nice actually...

Oh yes and got a text from the Boy last night saying that the more he got to know me the more he liked me...

Alibabaandthe40nappies · 09/02/2012 11:16

Freak I know Nigella does a butter bean mash to go with a stew of some sort in one of her books, I think it was v.straightforward - ie. just treat it like potato and add butter, a little cream etc.

That is good re. Boy. The important question now is, do you like him more the more you know him?

FreakoidOrganisoid · 09/02/2012 11:39

I think I do yes...but don't know if I LIKE him Confused

JKSLtd · 09/02/2012 12:04

Well night was ok until 3am when DS2 woke, gave him inhaler & neurofen and tried to resettle him but no luck. At 3.30 he was up.
So brought him downstairs, we did jigsaws, played cars, watched tv (did you know some channels don't start until 5?! I knew about CBeebies not starting til 6 but not the others), then DS1 came down at 5.
I woke DH at 6 and told him a cup of tea was waiting downstairs for him!
The boys were both hungry and were eating by 5.55.

Anyway, DH decided DS2 could make it to school Hmm but Nanny has just been to pick him up. His cough is bringing on his asthma and he's knackered. I don't want him having another seizure so I'm happier with him home.

Thurs:
(extra Nanny day)

  • DS2 prob not going to sch Gone and back again
  • DS1 to sch Got other mum to take him for me
  • need to drop DS2's trophy back to footie club as we're not going to footie on Sat Maybe tomorrow?

Hi all,

JKS you must be shattered. Hope DS2 gets better soon.

I am at home as DS has impetigo and has been banished from school. He is completely happy and is fine but impetigo looks horrible and I don't want anyone else to get it. Mini - it was not an allergy!

Gawd knows where my list is. I'll be back with it later.

Til then

Buenas dias todos!

Not sure quite why i felt the need to greet you all in Spanish. Never mind eh?

Have (nearly - it's only 5.30, anything could still happen) survived day one of half term.

Did the traditional "out for a jacket potato lunch" which we usually mark the beginning of the holidays with, and have been reading Charlie and the Chocolate Factory to/with the DC. Gosh, been a long time - had forgotten just how funny and bizarre and frankly hilarious it is! They are howling with laughter, as am I.

So mostly have not done a lot other than the above plus:

  • Wash and change our bed
  • Bit of a post weekend tidy up (but only a bit)
  • .... that's about it!

Snow finally starting to melt, reckon we will be clear by lunch time tomorrow (here's hoping).

FreakoidOrganisoid · 13/02/2012 17:56

Hola anon Grin

Lazy lazy day today, at home day with the dc. DS under the weather and slept for a couple of hours this afternoon. Am on chicken pox watch as his friend has it.

Was told water would be of for 6 hours from 11am so filled bottles and jugs etc in preparation but it didn't seem to go off at all, hopefully won't get a nasty surprise another day instead!
