Ok So a new year a new thread.
You know the ropes flying the fledgling way.
Decluttering 15mins at a time in each zone.
Babysteps and missions.

Sunday is renew your spirit day and seeing as today is new years days I hope there aren't too many evil hangovers in existance.

Babystep 1: shine you shine. yes we know this one but do you shine it the fat fairy way? cant remember? check here

And for a treat as it is sunday no mission.

Oh and can i just may 2012 bring you productive decluttering and flying so your houses step closer to those of your dreams and house work no longer be that evil monster that dominates.

Still at work so just popping in quickly.

My goals for today are to spend at least an hour on the bomb site that is my dining room, walk the dog, get rid of dog hair in the living room, and sort through the pile of magazines that lives behind my couch. And get everything set out for tomorrow morning so I'm not running around and late as usual. Oh, and make my brow appointment. :) And order a pretty Filofax.

ToffeeWhirl · 04/01/2012 17:30

Quick update to motivate myself:

Finish AM routine (put 2nd load in w/m, tumbledry first load) done
15 - 30 mins ironing
Put laundry away
DS1 - write thank-you letters done
De-Christmas the house
Room rescue - DS2's bedroom done
Paperwork - pay bills, post forms done
What's for dinner? Spag bol bubbling away right now Smile
Collect DS2 from friend's house
Bedtimes
Before-bed routine

Hmm, still have to tackle the ironing and Xmas decorations this evening. And DS2 will be back in half an hour.

BlueEyeshadow · 04/01/2012 18:47

Signing in for tonight

  • wipe down kids table done
  • wipe down kitchen sides and sink done
  • Take DD2 to get weighed as Im a bit worried she's not gaining enough weight. tried, but baby group doesnt start back till next week so I couldnt
  • Clean Bathroom - done
  • ring council re garage. We think someone tried to break into it the other day and now the door is dodgy. Dont like leaving my car outside as I dont live in a particularly nice area so rent out a garage. tried but just got answerphone or was engaged so gave up
  • Have also filled washing machine ready for a load tomorrow done

Tomorrow's list

  • wipe down kids table twice (decided to add another one after breakfast too)
  • wipe down kitchen sides and sink
  • Take DDs to group. Someone has said they are going to bring their baby weighing scales, so hopefully will try again.
  • Wipe Bathroom
  • ring council re garage
  • Load of Washing
  • Ironing
  • Allocate DH to sort out the crap in DD1s room

Lauren Have fun at Zumba, I enjoyed it when I went and looking forward to getting back into some sort of work-out regime when I find the time after I have moved

Grin at Linzer hiding from the postman. Got images of a big box being placed in just the right areas.

Swan good luck with the checklist and hope it gets you somewhere (not been following the story, but can tell you are looking for answers). Ive got to have a blood test to check for Thyroid problems, so is anxiety part of it? I do get that from time to time, but didnt realise it could be connected to my always being cold and tired and putting on weight thats definately nothing to do with eating crap

outofbody Good to hear DS hasnt been sick again (or hadn't before anyway). Good luck on the Ten pound challenge

Im really tired tonight so wont be up late again. Bath and early night for me Grin

IceColdBitchy · 04/01/2012 20:16

Right, this is the last of my ta da list for today. It has been a mamoth day but unfortunately it doesn't look that way when you look at the space tackled. Visible progress is lacking to do list is long.

Ta Da List:

reassembled bed
put other decorations away in loft
Tidied and sorted windowsil
cleaned windowsil
Remove unsorted washing to downstairs (aiming to get folded later)
Sorted out training kit drawer
Sorted out the odds and sods drawer so kit can be split between the 2 different types (although I appear to now have three drawers of my kit stuff alone)
Rearrange book shelf shelves.
Tidy and rearrange shelves on bed
Sort through and cull any electrical leads no longer required
Recharge electric toothbrush - oh how i have missed the luxary. Will be throwing out the manual one that is due replacing.
recharge ds' ikea ghosty and discover the older one is for the bin
Laundry - 4th load in dryer.
Find letter with ds' hospital appointment on
Find missing bank book
Recharge brick as the antique is playing up and i suspect about to die sad
Clean top of chest of drawers.
Watch Kung Fu panda 2
Check swimming kit for later
Make up school bag
get ds to school on time
Ds fed and to swimming
tea made
Lunch for ds tomo made
sort out a master plan
replace batteries in toys
get thank you notes written and signed off by ds
sort out missing address for card
Watch 2 muppet films
sort out hair grips etc for kit bag don't ask
add another couple of inches to scarf
Make a banana cake

I have yet to remake my bed as waiting for the bedding to finish in the dryer. however, I am currently curled up with Harry Potter and have decided to type up the addresses so that they can go in my control journal. I shall also round up and linky whilst waiting for the dryer.

Lifebeginsatforty · 04/01/2012 20:47

Flying, Blue and Justone I know exactly how you feel. DS is 15 months today and I can never leave him in any room for more than five mins without having to check on what he's up to, or being followed by a little zombie (arms out, moaning). I know it's only a phase and that he'll grow out of it, but I'm trying not to wish the time away, and to enjoy him now Some days that's a real challenge. Anyway one of my projects over the next two weeks is to find a childminder for him 2 days a week. That way maybe I can keep my sanity, and find some more time for DD.

I did compile a very optimistic to do list for today because my DPs were coming and could distract the DC, but it just didn't happen as they were late, and under the weather. Roll on nursery reopening for DD tomorrow. I'm off to compile tomorrow's list, which if it looks achievable, I'll post later.

NickNacks · 04/01/2012 20:50

I'm sorry I've been sooo crap! Slowly been eeked back into work but hardly any mindees are back yet so have been enjoying doing bugger all! Just been me and DD (which it NEVER is!) whilst boys are back at school and DH is back at work. 'tis been lovely but now i really should crack on with decluttering- I did promise that 2012 would be the year i got clearing.

I apologise that I have skipped a large portion of the thread (mostly today's and yesterday's posts) but if i sit and read them all i will waste another hour or three on mumsnet.

Huge waves to everybody, old and new!

So tomorrow...

Morning routine
Check online banking to see if i've been paid...
...if i have i must book first aid course
Go and buy storage boxes from Argos
Empty DD's room
Toy chest back in DD's room
Add all DH's shifts to the calendar
Call friend
Evening routine
Dinner- chicken stir fry
Declutter hallway (are we still even in this zone??) Blush

Have a good evening everyone- I'm off to climb into bed and watch One Born Every Minute... Smile

justonemorejingle · 04/01/2012 20:52

WHERE IS MY POST? WHEEEREEEE????
I just spent 40 minutes writing personal notes to everyone, painstakingly reading through the thread, then mumsnet logged me out as I was posting.... NOOOO! aRRRHG!

Won't be doing that again!!!

IceColdBitchy · 04/01/2012 21:27

Sorry to hear that Justone tbh when i do a round up i used notepad type thing and c&p across, also i find firefox automatically saves my post and is able to resend it. However, generally mine is an internet connection fail not an mn login fail.

OP posts:
Flyingoutofcontrol · 04/01/2012 21:28

Evening all!

Right, first up my ta-da list as I didn't really have a to-do list Blush

Tidy & dust bedroom - done
Plan dinner - done, stir-fry - now nommed
Organise kitchen - all done and shiny - DH is planning to make sarnies so may not stay that way Confused
Plan shopping list - written off - will hopefully do tomorrow when DS naps
Mop kitchen floor - done
Start a GOALS list - done - all the stuff I want done short term (like sorting out DS's wardrobe so his stuff can go in there) but need to discuss with DH in terms of timing
Make bread for sarnies mentioned above - done
Hoover living room - done, but only a crisis hoover to remove yet more biscuit
Clean every mirror, picture and window downstairs in amazement at e-cloths - done Blush

Am seriously loving the e-cloths. It even made short work of my hob complete with stir fry splatter! Grin

Bit annoyed as my Sink Reflections was dispatched from Amazon on Friday for delivery on Saturday, and I'm still awaiting it. On the other hand, the post did bring my November credit card statement Confused, which explains why I managed to not pay it and get hit with huge interest and charges on my December statement. I know I should know when it's due and check with them if I haven't got the bill, but major surgery kindof pushed it to the back of my mind. Angry Still, my own fault.

Going to follow NickNacks technique of just waving to everyone tonight as am going to log off and head for an early bed.

WhoKnowsWhereTheTimeGoes · 04/01/2012 21:30

Evening all,

Ta-Da!

Morning routine
School run
Work
Catch up with paperwork - added all this term's stuff to the calendar, filled in various forms and cheques for school etc
General tidying
Order Nespresso capsules
Enquire about a caravan booking for the summer
Top up mobile
Try and sort out WTF DS has done to the music on my phone - unsuccessful
Take all the Christmas decs upstairs ready to go to the loft
Evening routine
Tune DD's ukelele

Feels as though I have been busy, even though the list is quite short, I think that's because I had got out of the habit of all the school related stuff over the holidays (lunchboxes, uniforms etc). Luckily none of their after school activities start till next week, so I have got the after school period to potter around and do stuff

The DCs have kept up their two daily tasks, plus we have been diligently fitting in keyboard practices and DCs exercises from the OT, both of which had slipped a bit over the holidays. I bribed DS to put away a large basket of his own clean clothes tonight which he did very well considering it was his first real go at it. I am also handing over the putting out of clothes for the next day to them.

Swan - sorry to hear your stomach is knotted up, mine gets like that, have you ever tried Rescue Remedy? I used to scoff, being a scientist, but it really works for me, just zaps that knotted feeling (I got through gallons of the stuff in my last job)

Linzer - glad your phone has arrived. I find the facility to take photos of my own face quite scary, but you are younger and more fresh faced than me! I didn't run today but planning to tomorrow.

Toffee - you are doing a brilliant job with that other thread!

Flying - hands out Brew and sympathy

Feet - half marathon - respect!

Justone - grrrrr, copy onto the clipboard before you click is what I always tell myself to do, rarely remember

Night all, see you tomorrow

feetheart · 04/01/2012 21:31

lauren - :) at Paddington Bear stare

Had quite a good day here (I am SO glad we have left the toddler stages behind though DD, nearly 9, seems to be having the occasional practice at teenage strops Hmm. Sound familiar Swan?)

So:

  • All up and out with relevant bags, kit, bits of paper, etc - done
  • Morning routine re-established - sort of
  • WORK - contract invoices - done
  • De-Christmas everything apart from tree - not quite but have started
  • Ironing away - done
  • Missions - nope, maybe tomorrow
  • 15mins declutter - did one of kitchen cupboards
  • Pizza dough for DC dinner - done
  • Many phone calls re work/home - mostly done
  • Sign up to Virgin Giving - done
  • Update freezer list - no, too cold in garage :)
  • Menu-plan/food order - sort of

DC both bounced out of school this afternoon after good first days back, long may it continue.
Going to sign off now and make sure I really do get to bed on time tonight.
Night all.

justonemorejingle · 04/01/2012 21:32

Well Bitchy I've learnt my lesson! Pen and paper next time, if I find the courage.

IceColdBitchy · 04/01/2012 22:03

You know what. Am knackered after today, got caught up in the film, just going to shove the links in if you will forgive me and try to round up first thing. post school run

It is nice to be tired at a reasonable time. Here's hoping the rountine sticks.

Thursday is errand day

Baby step 5 : think positive thoughts

Missions

See you all tomo for another productive day.

OP posts:
Honu · 04/01/2012 22:07

Boiler now mended and house finally warmed up. Hope yours is now sorted too Ellie.
Not a lot of flying here today - I seem to have been very busy with a lot of both home and work related things but not achieved all that much. Need more focus!
Three urgent emails to send (have list beside me to keep me on track) then bed and ..aaah..... sleep.

BlueEyeshadow · 04/01/2012 22:47

Evening all!

Nettle - it might as well be 2 or 3 lofts, the quantity of junk we found up there. Quite Blush to have kept so many broken bits of electrical equipment!!

The process of clearing it also pretty well undid all the decluttering I did the rest of the day, but there is an old pushchair to go to the pregnancy crisis centre, and two more bags and a briefcase for the charity shop now in the car boot.

Will have to do a major tip run at the w/e as well. Will be good to have it all gone though, and it can't stay all over the house as my parents are visiting in a couple of weeks!!

Glad the boiler's fixed Honu.

Justone - I've never had MN eat a post (maybe it's a benefit of Firefox), but I c&P long posts from Word too, just to be safe!

Anyway, need to get to bed. Night...

swanrevelry · 04/01/2012 22:47

so outofbody areyou Madwoman, and is notvery inventive someone else familiar...getting confused now.

done
three loads of washing
roast dinner with leftovers for tomorrow
beetroot soup (for tomorrow)
chatted and read to ds1, who is a bit needy after first day back at school
swept floor
rescued hall worktop, tidied shoe basket
wrote dates on calendar

Dh returned late, the worst for wear after meeting up with three booksellers in Mayfair and drinking 4 bottles of wine. He was ranting about how according to his friends (who have teenagers) it is now possible to get an A* at GSCE without having read Romeo and Juliet properly and what is the country coming to etc etc...Sigh.

sorry no personal messages, I am completely lost. There, you see Nettie your grasp of detail is another quality which for a governor is indispensable Wink

Feet the toddler and the teenage seem to merge effortlessly. Although I have to say I identify more with dd's teenage strops; it feels quite recent I had them myself. She has been very sweet recently though, apart from a particular smirk which I think she has picked up from watching Tracey Beaker. Ds1 spends a lot of time asking me about relationships and girls, that is very sweet too.

notveryinventive · 04/01/2012 23:02

swan I used to be myhouseWILLbecleanthisyear when I was on this thread before. I was PG and got 6 months before giving up cos I just couldnt be arsed anymore.

I plan to do a lot more now

CheerfulYank · 05/01/2012 07:34

Still plugging away at my decluttering. :)

I started to get discouraged again but had a moment of clarity: I will get through it. I really will. I will just keep going, putting away or chucking or donating thing after thing after thing, room after room, and one day soon it will be done. I am going to do it.

Good night! :)

coostoonettle · 05/01/2012 07:52

Good morning Grin

swan oh dear at inebriated dh! Although I think everyone should read Romeo and Juliet too. Grin
blue aw sounds like you are doing brill though. Keep going it will be well worth it!
honu glad your toasty again

My list

Despatch everyone to school/nursery/work
S/s
Dressed to shoes with hair straightened
Mission clean door and decobweb provide rain stops bashing on the door. Or it could be one of those tasks I delegate to the rain Grin
Move washing on and put away
Ds to swim lesson
Batch cook lasagna for freezer. Any tips on cooking for freezer greatly appreciated
Mince and gravy for freezing
Cottage Pie for freezing
Gym for pt session.

I think that will do. Hope you all have a fab day. Grin

Lifebeginsatforty · 05/01/2012 07:52

Just dumping quick list for the morning (out by ten):

Get dressed done
DW
clear up breakfast
DC dressed
load pushchair for day
nursery run
compile huge list of all things not managed since Sat and break up into realistic time slots
find all ingredients for dinner (make top up shop list)
find stuff can do in cafe for 15 mins whilst DS sleeps (ha, ha)
leave house again on time

coostoonettle · 05/01/2012 07:52

Go cheerful go!! Grin

Lifebeginsatforty · 05/01/2012 07:55

I spent Saturday cooking for freezer. Curry works well, and chilli (bean and veg, and mince versions). Also burgers and patties, which I have to say I can never be bothered to make, but should for a change.

justonemorejingle · 05/01/2012 08:07

bitchy I swoon at your ta da list, though I must say disassembled bed makes me laugh, just have visions of you doing all those things at once in cartoon style, whizzing around like typhoon.

Well, another bad night with dd2 here - We really thought we'd turned a corner after one whole week of restful nights, turns out she was just lulling us in a false sense of security.

All my good intentions for today are out the window. Will be getting myself out of the house and visiing a friend, rather than staying here trying to muddle through with wingey over-tired toddler....
