Come one come all, fledgling reunite. 1st of the month and we survived the fright. Bonfire month and lets burn though the housework to prepare for the festivities of December.

As from the 1st we will be babystepping, mission and deep cleaning our way out of the C.H.A.O.S. (can't have anyone over syndrome).

For newbies and those who need reminding here is the principles behind the babystep system.

The basic is this:

  1. Do the babysteps.
  2. When you do the babysteps with consistency add in the missions
  3. When you are doing the babysteps and missions as a habbit tackle the deep cleaning.

This thread is a mishmash of people at different stages. The lists can look long, but look carefully, some of us are reposting lists and parts of lists from day to day.

Our motto is this: Do not strive to be perfect, Progress is progress and anything is better then nothing and my personal favourite part of the fly lady system is you are never behind, just jump in and start from where you are.

So on that note here we go. With much thanks to Ellie who lead us with amusing roundups last month.

Day 1: Babystep 1 - How to shine your sink

Mission here - this will update overnight ready for the early fledglings

Tuesday's reminders are here: It's planning day

And for those of you who are eagerly awaiting christmas here is the flylady's crusing into christmas page. Personally i did some of this last year and done some this year and it does take a chunk of the stress out of christmas.

Well now that I have suitably scared you, see you all tomo!!

Tbh I think you could be right swan. Ds loves simple things like cottage pie, sausage mash onion gravy, turkey drummers and potatoe waffles, roast chiken and veg. He also loves curry which i hate so he gets a shove in mircowave meal version of that. And he loves casseroles which i also hate so that is also a out of a packet job. He is happy and I don't have to eat it, So i am happy. BlushGrin

It is school disco supervision hell night tonight. I am escaping to the sanity of the training. Can't actually be arsed though. slept whilst ds was at school and actually would happily just go straight back to bed. Ds on the other hand is being efficent and organising. I don't think that is an option...

Phew, looks like erring on side of caution paid off - she went back to sleep and has been fine all day and no tummy bug, looks like it was a one off (anyone else's children do that? Just throw up for no reason except for overtiredness?).
Good, I really was not in the mood for repeated sick-up cleaning!

Can't read all threads and post any more details, must go back to play-dough activity and repeatedly picking up toddler's play-dough tool.
!

WhoKnowsWhereTheTimeGoes · 11/11/2011 17:31

You could have a point Swan, trouble is my DS doesn't like plain meat and veg type meals (he wouldn't eat any of the things Darkness has listed apart from the curry which he does like, he like things in sauces but not gravy). We live on spag bol, pasta, curries. Toffee - we do do that sometimes, we give him an option of bread and butter. Well done getting the statementing process underway, I am wondering whether I will be doing this at some point. DS is flourishing at school at the moment but things can change very suddenly. I think he is OK for the next year or so (Yr 3 now) but I will have to think very hard in a year or so about the transition to secondary school.

Meeting with DD's teacher was fine, she realises DD needs a bit of help and made a few suggestions for things we could do at home and says she will try and make sure DD is able to speak to her more easily. She is nice and knows us quite well as a family because DS was in her class for 2 years and I was the class rep then, it means DD has known her since she was about 3. Feet - I have posted on a thread that someone else started about this thread but it hasn't had many posts, I must go back to it.

Darkness - I did the school disco thing last week . It's even worse now DS is in KS2 as the discos are one after the other, so it's a lot of to-ing and fro-ing from school (I only helped at KS1).

Ah feck. I am perpetually fecking useless at this fecking flying lark. I shall head straight to the naughty corner where i am going to make myself comfy Grin.

I have zero flying to report. And i do mean zero. Grin Shockingly busy week at work means a very tired ellie. Tonight will mainly consist of Wine, Big Brother ( don't ask, guilty pleasure) and the Walking Dead.

Back tomorrow with a vengeance. Am going to house rescue with gusto. Dc's and i are then going to dsis's for a crafty afternoon/ walk in park and then sleepover. DH has a new computer game so that's him for the weekend.

Back in the morning.

Mil in hosp with possible virus/infection been in since thursday and keeping her till at least Monday. Dh gone out with his friends. I'm bored and fed up.

Trawling Internet talking shit! Sorry!

I do hope you are all ok. I miss flying properly but life is just too hectic to fly/thread update/ breathe.

Not too busy for Wine though! Wink

Have fab weekends GrinGrin

Is it the kids bedtime yet?

WhoKnowsWhereTheTimeGoes · 11/11/2011 20:59

Zero flying here today too, apart from one load of washing which has not been put away. However I have had a nice evening with the DCs. We put the telly off and they have spent an hour and a half writing. DD has never really written anything other than single letters before without a lot of pressure, DS goes in fits and starts but his writing still leaves a lot to be desired. So, good all round. I think DD was really chuffed that I went and talked to her teacher for her.

PositiveAttitude · 11/11/2011 21:15

Been woken by too much swearing and hilarity in the naughty corner.

coostoonettle · 11/11/2011 21:45

Ooo my own cushion Grin pleased as punch thx lady beautiful!! GrinGrinGrin

Wine some more for all. Proper party time here! Grin

madwomanintheattic · 11/11/2011 21:55

tsk tsk. it's not even three in the afternoon here!

parade and service all fine. met up with some friends we haven't seen for 7 years for coffee afterwards - not planned, just happened, so that was nice.

house looks like a tip (i was sewing badges whilst everyone was eating breakfast ) and the kids just had a cushion game in the living room, knocked over a duck, broke it, caused ww3, and are now trying to restore order. so life goes on as normal chez mad...

i'm off to the brand new store in town now though, to buy christmas lights and a new iron and ironing board Grin. it's a huge hardware superstore and it only opened yesterday, so is causing great excitement in the valley. it saves driving and hour into the city, anyway!

DarknessSoothes · 12/11/2011 00:36

ShockShockShock WTF have you lot done to the naughty corner? That is some serious partying mess.

have to admit if i wasn't out I would have been joining you all in the naughty corner. Did fuck all today and don't even have Ellie's very valid excuse of being busy at work.

One question what is going on at the moment as there seems to be a heck of alot of cba and nesbitting going about. Is this the lethargy after trying to get the house in order post summer hols and pre holy fuck its nearly christmas rush? Or is it just a case of lots of bugs and illnesses are causing a run down weariness?

Minds you don't think all the late nights have been helping.

Speaking of which linkies:

babystep is to delete fly lady emails which most of us don't get anyway

No mission it is the weekend

Saturday is family fun day

Now I am finally heading off to sleep and hoping it is a night of only one going to sleep. unlike last night and the last few nights

OP posts:
madwomanintheattic · 12/11/2011 01:23

you lot were on fire flying last month though. it couldn't last.

but i predict a rally on monday. because by then someone will say it's only 5? weeks until christmas and then we'll all be in panic mode Grin

i bought my new iron and ironing board cover. Grin i'm going to get dh to test them later. Grin

but it's pizza and movie night chez mad, and i might, just might, have a glass or two of Wine...

laurenamium · 12/11/2011 08:51

Morning all! Well I'm feeling much better, it's clearly just a 24 hour bug. When DP got in from work last night he saw how ill I was and still said no to having DD for an hour so I could get a shower and some sleep because "he wanted to play FIFA and I should be moving around it will make me feel better" Angry

But karma prevailed, he's now struck down by dreaded tummy bug while I'm fine and he's not having a shred of sympathy either Wink

So lots of flying after work and dinner with mam today...

Clean kitchen
Wash kitchen floor
Gut bathroom
Wash bathroom floor
Disinfect door handles
Disinfect light switches
Disinfect toys
Bedroom hotspot
Change bedding

Any other germ ridding ideas?

Toffeefudgecake · 12/11/2011 11:00

Lauren - What Justonemore said re the toothbrushes. They will be all germy. I changed all ours after we had our sickness bug.

Sorry I missed the party in the naughty corner last night, but I was at my own RL party at the local pub Grin. Spent my usual night bedhopping between DH and both DC. I think it's wearing me out because I've been feeling exceptionally tired for the last few days and have come out in a cold sore. Couldn't sleep in this morning because I had to get the downstairs and DS1 ready for his English lesson here, so was up at 7. Asked DH for a lie in tomorrow and he reminded me that he is leaving at the crack of dawn to drive to Dorset to pick up some stock for the business. Oh well. Maybe I'll get an early night tonight .

Ta da list for today:

Boys' breakfasts
Everyone dressed by 9
D/W loaded
Extra washing up done
Kitchen hotspot - 2 mins tidying it up
Surfaces wiped
Dining-room table cleared and wiped
Sitting room rescued
Saturday treats for the boys bought

Offered to take the boys to see 'Arthur Christmas' in 3-D, but they were both adamant that they didn't want to see it Confused. I'm sure DS2 (5) would particularly enjoy it and don't know why he's taken against it. So instead they will have to come with us to our very chilly office and help us look through some stock. They might wish they'd made a wiser decision.

Hope you all have a happy Saturday. Sorry, no time for personals.

DarknessSoothes · 12/11/2011 11:20

I am awake but i don't want to be.

Mad tsk on the 5 weeks til christmas reminder. I know

Right short list for today:
sort out ds' kit for his match later
Washing
get up and ready.
Ds' match
more washing
Give ds a proper lunch. - might do a fry up.
Early night.

Sunday is going to need an earlier start and productivity as we have homework for j to get through and he doesn't see the point in christmas play so getting him to learn his lines is causing major battles.

coostoonettle · 12/11/2011 11:32

Wow I think we should have a party every night in naughty corner. Geeing me up that's for sure.

Well done everyone

I've stripped my bed and popped all bedding in washing
Done writing and maths with dd and ds
Swept kitchen floor

Still to panic at prospect of working behind bar from 5pm thereby missing postponed fireworks and leaving slightly inept fil with dc to put to bed.
Go have dinner out at lunch time and visit mil
Clean up moonsand and get sc respectable for going out.

Hope to be back later. Grin

LorelaisMommy · 12/11/2011 12:04

Hey everyone!
Am sat shovelling red hot fish pie down my gullet waiting for ILs to come. They said 1, which means 12, so any minute now. So just a quick one:
Ta-da:
dressed - all 4 of us
all breakfast
SS
Hot spot kitchen - only 5 mins as it didn't need much
hot spot living room - 15 mins mostly to put away clothes
hoovered downs stairs
hot spot bathroom - only 5 mins again
Put up with DD1 45min tantrum and try and feed DD2 at the same time Angry

To-do:
Get through this visit without killing MIL!!!! (she's not that bad, but I'm on edge today after tantrum)

That's pretty much about it for me!!!

Have a good one!
