Welcome, come away in you?ll have had your Brew. This is the April Fledgling Flyers Thread.

Thanks to WhoKnowsWhereTheTimeGoes who was champion at leading us through March.

We are trying to stick to the Flylady © Website and her baby steps and routines to help keep our houses out of C.H.A.O.S and ready for everyday, maybe the odd visitor or two.

Check her website out but don?t sign up for emails as they are likely to inspire but fill your inbox so full we might not see you till August. Grin

The principles are:

Babysteps (one at a time)
Babysteps and 15 minutes daily decluttering
Babysteps and daily missions.

This month I will be posting the links and leading you down the road to building a routine and keeping your house under control.

It is amazing what you can achieve in a simple babystep,15 minutes a day and a little Wink chat.

I'm in!

NettieSpaghetti · 30/03/2011 22:16

Whoops my first link didn't work! Ah....(scuttles off to try and figure out where went wrong)

OP posts:
LostInTheBlackHole · 30/03/2011 22:21

I need to be more proactive during April. Thankfully the lighter evenings seem to have a beneficial effect in the motivation department.

Thanks for taking control Nettie!

NettieSpaghetti · 30/03/2011 22:27

Missions

bouncing babysteps

does it work does it work?

CheerfulYank · 30/03/2011 22:29

Oooh, I want to join! I don't have time to look at the website this second but will in a couple of hours. I need to declutter more than I need to go on breathing, I swear.

NettieSpaghetti · 30/03/2011 22:36

Welcome CheerfulYank nice to see you. maybe this will help just chuck it (fingers crossed it works)

Thanks for coming whoknows and lost

Toffeefudgecake · 30/03/2011 23:35

I'm here too! Like you, Lost, I need to do better in April. I need to get to bed at a decent hour so that I have the energy to keep up with my routines and decluttering every day.

I will start on Friday.

Welcome, CheerfulYank. If you can't do a big declutter, just do 15 minutes a day in one room.

(I wish I could follow my own advice. The 15-minutes a day declutter was working well until RL intervened).

Toffeefudgecake · 30/03/2011 23:37

Nettie - I love the thread title, by the way. Thanks for taking on the challenge of leading us!

And thank you, WhoKnows, for all your hard work and good leadership throughout March.

sugared · 31/03/2011 00:40

Am in too, although i just signed up to Flylady this afternoon...thanks for the email tip!
Having just got inspiration, motivation and now a shiny sink :)

I even washed walls today....wtfShock

I am ready to crack on and put my life/house in order.

CheerfulYank · 31/03/2011 02:04

Me too sugared! I was just checking out the website and I'm really excited! :)

I love to have things clean and tidy, but I have a very disorganized brain, to put it nicely. :o It seems like I spend so much time doing things, and then you can barely tell.

Off to shine my sink!

LinzerTorte · 31/03/2011 04:57

Thanks for the new thread Nettie and for leading us so fabulously last month WhoKnows. Smile

Welcome CheerfulYank and sugared.

My motivation seems to have entirely deserted me over the last few weeks so I will gladly take you up on your challenge of trying to stick to the routines and reporting back, Toffee! I may even push the boat out and try to get some decluttering done too; the constant tidying is just so time-consuming, so getting rid of some stuff must make it easier.

NettieSpaghetti · 31/03/2011 06:28

Welcome sugared well done on sink shining and wall cleaning Shock. You can deregister for emails. I now only get one which I can dive into or delete.

Hiya linzer watching your challenge with toffee will be great. (may even spur me on, decluttering has ground to a bit of a halt here too.) Grin

Marking spot.

Welcome CheerfulYank and sugared

HUGE thank you to Whoknows for keeping us all on track in March inspite of many new Flyers and the usual vast amounts of chat :)

Linzer and Toffee - can I join the challenge too? It did work wonders last time but, as with Toffee, real life got in the way. I'll try and last more than 7-8 days this time!

See you Friday

janeyjampot · 31/03/2011 08:45

Hello, can I join too?

I signed up for Flylady emails (just one a day) in February and thought I'd got into it, but then it's all slipped in the last couple of weeks and I need a kick inspiration to get back on board. I only do the bits I like, which isn't really the point, is it?

Paintinmyhair · 31/03/2011 09:09

I have already done a mammoth de-clutter when we moved last month, but think I could do more! I need some kind of cleaning routine before i kill dh for not doing his share, so have signed up for the emails.

NettieSpaghetti · 31/03/2011 10:17

Welcome paintinmyhair and janeyjampot (love the name).

Maybe the email situation has changed? I signed up to fly lady over 18m ago and then I used to have at least half a dozen emails a day!

We vary in our approach here, some people are great at sticking rigidly to babysteps (like getting dressed to shoes) others have a more lax-i-daisyrelaxed approach.

I love making my bed babystep but a bit lacklustre about getting a face on but wish I could stick to the laying out clothes.

NettieSpaghetti · 31/03/2011 10:17

Welcome back feetheart

QueenofDreams · 31/03/2011 10:53

Hi can I join again? I've fallen off the fly while pg as I had sciatica, and then all intentions to pick it up after the birth went out the window as I messed my pelvis up. Pelvis still buggered, but my house is a tip!

LostInTheBlackHole · 31/03/2011 11:17

paint get rid of the emails!!!!! you will never get anything sorted out. Seriously. All you need is the babysteps and they build up to a routine. Promise.

Welcome to the newbies. Flying visit today. Mad day, lack of sleep and no motivation = too much coffee drunk, still too much to do and cba to do it. At least i feel a bit :) in a crazy too much caffine way Hmm

NettieSpaghetti · 31/03/2011 12:28

queenofdreams welcome back !Ouch at pelvis, hope it gets better soon.

Toffeefudgecake · 31/03/2011 12:33

Linzer - fantastic that you are up for the challenge! And, yes, Feet, of course you can join in. It gave me a much-needed kick up the backside last time we did it. Shall we start tomorrow? That'll give us time to plan and do any last-minute decluttering / tidying up first. I have a notebook of what to do each day, so I'm going to write down what I should be doing tomorrow, according to Flylady, and will make sure I post the list here. Then I will be too embarrassed not to do it.

I'll use today to tackle the worst of the mess downstairs, I think. The kitchen hotspot is out of control again and there are various other hotspots building up elsewhere. At least the sitting room is tidy again, as I had to tidy up for a friend's visit this morning.

Queen, Paint, Janey, sugared, Cheerful - welcome to you all.

Nettie - I'm the opposite of you in that I always do my face in the morning, but rarely make the bed. I just think my face needs more work to be presentable than my bed does! Maybe your face doesn't need as much work on it as mine does Wink.

Lost - hope you don't fall down off that caffeine high. Glad to see you have not deserted us after all Smile.

DS is typing up his account of our trip to the aquarium yesterday, so I'm going to tackle the kitchen. Hmm. I think I need to go back to the basics, so I'll shine my sink first, I think.

jasmin27 · 31/03/2011 12:35

I'm in. Already shined my sink! Need motivation to get the rest of the flat sorted. Was going to sign up for emails but get enough junk mail as it is.

WhoKnowsWhereTheTimeGoes · 31/03/2011 15:55

I'm up for the challenge too, I am rather embarrased to say that as last month's thread leader I felt a bit fraudulent because I don't think I did a sinle mission! However I had a very good month of babysteps, and the whole house is fairly tidy at the mo, so I think the time is right. Although the school holidays are daunting, more DCs at home means more mess usually.

I don't necessarily do the missions daily ( when I do do them) but i intend to write them all down on Mondays from the sneak peek page and do them all by Friday.

CheerfulYank · 31/03/2011 16:02

I loved that CHAOS stands for Can't Have Anyone Over Syndrome, because this is so true! I dread pop bys because my house is so disorganized, which is a shame as I'm a very social person really. :(

Was so excited to wake up to my shiny sink this morning! :o
