Welcome, come away in you?ll have had your Brew. This is the April Fledgling Flyers Thread.

Thanks to WhoKnowsWhereTheTimeGoes who was champion at leading us through March.

We are trying to stick to the Flylady © Website and her baby steps and routines to help keep our houses out of C.H.A.O.S and ready for everyday, maybe the odd visitor or two.

Check her website out but don?t sign up for emails as they are likely to inspire but fill your inbox so full we might not see you till August. Grin

The principles are:

Babysteps (one at a time)
Babysteps and 15 minutes daily decluttering
Babysteps and daily missions.

This month I will be posting the links and leading you down the road to building a routine and keeping your house under control.

It is amazing what you can achieve in a simple babystep,15 minutes a day and a little Wink chat.

Hi all am knee deep in DDs mamouth bithday celebrations which will merge with another friends party and cross over into Mother in laws day on Sun.

I am very keen to join the challenge. I am ok with routines and house bless but rarely do a mission (or any detailed cleaning) Blush.

BB Monday!

Toffeefudgecake · 31/03/2011 18:27

OK, Scatty! You're on!

CheerfulYank · 31/03/2011 18:30

Ooh, I want a challenge.

swanriver · 31/03/2011 18:39

oh I see you are all here already making garlands Grin

I'm really not managing to keep up at all, as it took me the whole afternoon to pay the bills and tidy the kitchen....
and there's no supper! well there is, but a cobbled together one as I didn't get to shops to buy the flour for my cheese sauce, or the accompaniment to the cauliflower cheese which I had mealplanned [grr]

however, It has been an afternoon of fun, hide and seek, several children over on spur of moment..etc etc...maybe I now have some PLAYDATE CREDIT Hmm
and I have sorted out problems with BANK again...who blocked my card, despite new PIN. Never buy a plane ticket and then take £400 out of ATM Wink[grr]

swanriver · 31/03/2011 19:44

supper was surprisingly nice Blush pasta with tinned salmon, leeks and cheese, and broccoli

I think tonight was another night off from candles and condiments,as the kids ate theirs in front of the Simpsons, and dh was still recovering from business lunch and didn't want supper Grin I think we already in holiday/caravan mode here...

Mufti day tomorrow so off to find some trendy garments for kids.
We have also managed to sow some seeds, Calendula, Cosmos, Swanriver Daisy, and Asters Smile

Whoknows yes dh usually likes supper at table with a sort of bistro atmosphere..not silverware but just a chance to converse I suppose..DD is the one for candles and tablecloths.

Toffeefudgecake · 31/03/2011 19:46

You are welcome to join in too if you want, Cheerful!

OK, here's my list of what I should be doing tomorrow morning, according to Flylady and me:

Get dressed
S&S
D/W - unload
B/fasts, water, vitamins
W/M on
Lunchbox and water bottle for school
School run
D/W - reload
Make beds
T/D
Daily declutter - 15 mins (should be in the 'living room', but I'm doing our bedroom instead)
Hot spot - kitchen - 5 mins
Home ed - DS finish writing about trip to aquarium, do MathsWhizz (go through exercises DS1 is struggling with), revise English - BBC Bitesize (adverbs, adjectives, story planning) and write story about deep-sea creatures.
Lunch

Hope I haven't forgotten anything.

Will post afternoon routine when I've finished the above, tomorrow. It's too overwhelming to see it all in black and white now.

Off to throw put boys to bed.

LinzerTorte · 31/03/2011 20:27

Too tired to post tomorrow's list tonight (plus I only have five minutes to get to bed if I want to stick to my 9.30 pm bedtime), but I do have a shiny sink and am feeling very motivated!

Had a lovely if hectic day - completely forgot that I needed to allow time for lunch in between meeting fellow MNer and other English friend, but I kept myself going on coffee x4 and tea x2. I don't think I need to worry about the caffeine keeping me awake, however; I'm already propping my eyes open with matchsticks.

Back in the morning - night all. Smile

CheerfulYank · 31/03/2011 21:02

I'm only on the second day, so I just have to shine my sink and get dressed :o

Makingchanges · 31/03/2011 21:16

Hi guys I'm signing up again. Been a poor flier in March but determined to be organised with the little time I have - Either that or divorced I think, looking at the state of the house

funambulist · 31/03/2011 22:44

I'm in.

I've found it much easier to stay motivated through joining this thread. I especially like posting a to do list at the start of the day and then updating it at the end. If I've slacked off during the day I rush round ticking a few things off the list so that it looks better when I report in at the end of the day Smile

I'm pretty good at doing a load of washing every day and putting it away and keeping the dishwasher going. I hate doing the swish and swipe but managed to do it most days in March.

I really struggle with laying out my clothes the night before, even though I do it without fail for DD and DS1 during the week. Hmm I don't always do the decluttering even though I think that this is what I most need to do. Maybe my resolution for April should be to do better with that.

NettieSpaghetti · 31/03/2011 22:47

I think i better think that one out again and try links again

www.flylady.net/pages/begin_babysteps.asp

www.flylady.net/pages/FlightPlan_Missions.asp

if these dont work ill have to check in tomorrow with the FatFairys website and see if i can fix it then.

Nite all

hooray hooray it worked.

Welcome fun x-posted see you in the morning.

OP posts:
miggly · 31/03/2011 22:50

May I join you please? I have a very un-shiny sink, despite aiming for just this one babystep since January.

BlueEyeshadow · 31/03/2011 22:57

Can I join in too? I have a clean sink (it doesn't shine because it's horrible brown plastic :( ) but I can tell you now that I'm not getting anyone dressed to shoes in the morning because we don't do shoes in the house!

I really need to get on top of things though.

NettieSpaghetti · 31/03/2011 22:58

welcome miggly come away in have a Brew.

right definately signing out off to watch some Charmed. swan would like to say it is some really cool drama but it is essentially a series about the charmed witches who save the world from demons. Blush

dh is taking the mikey about me doing a thread on housework as there are so many important things in the world. Hmm my retort firstly is its a very postive thread with lots of lovely people and secondly at least im not shooting pretend armys with 14 year old geeks Grin

OP posts:
NettieSpaghetti · 31/03/2011 23:01

welcome blueeyeshadow mine is a black composite so not shinable either but i do try and wake sure its clean and dry Grin Shoes are optional on this thread. Smile

CheerfulYank · 01/04/2011 02:55

Blush I realize I should not elbow my way into challenges without understanding it all first Blush

So we're just working on the sink and today's mission? Where do these "routines" come in?

NettieSpaghetti · 01/04/2011 05:59

Good morning

Gosh cheerfulyank your an early bird. The routine comes in over the month. The idea is the babysteps are the routine and you get a new one everyday. If you are thirsty for more you can do missions. But missions are generally best kept till some decluttering is done. If you want more there is a sneak peek at the week ahead

sneakpeak
I'm not sure it will update just yet. Hmm
Good luck don't do too much or you'll get fed up! Grin

My list for this morning

Get up, been awake since 4 but trying to stay in bed
Dc up/breakfasted/bathed/dressed/nurseried
S/s
Me work
Pick dc up lunchtime

This afternoon
Empty dishwasher finish filling dresser with contents
Wm
Td
Put away clothes
Sort out birthday cards and mothers day cards for posting
Trip to post office with dc on bikes
General room rescues everywhere (happened so fast one minute fine..)

Wishing you all a fab day Grin

Aprils habit is making your bed! My favourite and my main Babystep I stick to everyday Grin

OP posts:
CheerfulYank · 01/04/2011 06:09

I'm not an early bird, I'm a night owl! :) It's "only" midnight here. But am going to bed now, really! I just came by to tell you what I did:

Shined my sink

Did 10 minute rotations with DH (we set the alarm and cleaned separate rooms- entryway, living, and dining- for ten minutes, then switched. I had to drag him kicking and screaming, but he enjoyed it in the end :o)

Set clothes out for tomorrow...I did one better with DS and dressed him for bed in comfy tracksuit bottoms and a sweatshirt. He can just wear them tomorrow and no one will know the difference Blush

Cleaned out one of my "clutter baskets". I've got them all over the house so that I can throw things into them when company is coming over to give the illusion of tidiness. It would be a decent system if I actually, you know, cleaned them out every now and then!

Whew! I wanted to do more but I don't want to burn out!

Nettie, what is this "making beds" of which you speak? Is that some weird British thing? :o

The strange thing is, I always have DS make his bed but never rarely do mine. Well. Will start tomorrow!

Good night/good morning everyone!
