Morning :)

I am shouty Mum this morning :(
DS is being a nightmare, he just ignores me when I ask him not to do something. For example

Me - DS please leave the toilet roll alone
DS - I can't Mummy

I end up having to physically remove him from whatever it is he's doing, and getting really cross. Not good, but can't seem to get through to him at all. :(
Any ideas?

Ali Sad DD goes through phases like that, usually when she wants attention. I find i ask her to stop, then issue a warning (you will go to your room/the hall etc) then i take her away manually but without speaking to her, does work. On a good day. On a bad day i shout and tell her that she is driving mummy round the bend and she won't get her treat/see her friends etc Blush

Mini list

Phone DH to tell him WM has arrived - no need he has just popped back!
Decide what to have for lunch (yes i know it is only 10.30, but need to eat at 11.30)

I had it the other way anon, dd took forever and still wets herself now, ds just did it himself.

Ali will divorce end of this year after two year separation, saves on a lot of aggro from H and is meant to be quicker, easier and cheaper.

Freaky, "quicker, easier and cheaper" should be our motto. Grin

Alice, how is DD enjoying pre-school?

Ali, I am often shouty Mum, but am trying to do a count to three then physically stopping him/bringing him to nappy mat etc. in quick succession. It keeps me calmer that way. Grin

You know how some people are just sooooo annoying? well the Ed Psych is one of those, she is patronising, doesn't know what she's talking about (has never even visited the SN school we want to get DS2 into!) and takes ages to go through anything/talks for hours.

We had to set alarm and take Nanny & DS2 on school run just to make sure we got rid of her (pre-warned!). Hopefully she won't mess up the Statement process but she could, grrrr.

"Quick easy and cheap" sounds good to me Smile

Have a very Slatternly confession to make. We moved into this house two months ago (can't believe it!). Anyway, I only mopped the kitchen floor for the first time today. Blush. The water was absolutely disgusting, so I suspect I will be mopping a bit more often from now on....

Anon you are a woman after my own heart Grin

JKS - that does sound really annoying! Sadly I think not unusual from what I have gleaned from other threads on here - which considering how important these things are is v.concerning.

Freak - quick, easy and cheap sounds good to me too! Grin

DS and I have cheered up. He was good as gold at music, and even allowed his feet to be measured without too much problem. Currently crashed out on the sofa - he fell asleep on my knee which he hasn't for about a year!
Thank you for sharing though, makes me feel better :) My Mum was always quite a shouty Mum (she still can be tbh which is a whole other thread! Grin) and I would like to be less shouty than her!!

Mmmm. I used to be a very shouty Mum.. the PND after DD didn't help Confused.

Recently though, apart from very dire situations - ie. utterly appalling behaviour (thankfully, less frequent these days) or danger/damage etc - as my two are that bit older, I do seem to be able to just do the "stern talk, let's try and reason with you thing" more often. It does take all my self control and lots of deep breaths to manage it.

It's hard though. I used to "lose it" regularly. It's hard sometimes not just to let rip!!!!

Right, quick check in on today. Lots of DONE but only because I've moved everything I didn't do to tomorrow. Ha ha. Tomorrow's list must be shorter, surely??? Feels like it will never happen.

I can be shouty but have realised it is usually when I am stressed by something else (exH, money, tiredness, PMT) so do now make an effort not to take it out on the dc. Though do usually still have a shouty day just before period.

And often only shouting works to cut through the squabbling, though I tyr to just shout stop and then proceed calmly!

I more need to work on the muttering of obcenities when pissed off as it isn't good to hear ds muttering "fucksake" or "jesuschrist" under his breath when he spills/drops stuff.

AliceandtheGinormousBaps · 20/01/2011 20:19

Grin Freak, i do that too, my usual (when something is not working) is "you useless piece of shite" and DD picks stuff up so well and not only speaks very clearly but uses it in context too Confused I have started 'raaaa-ing' when stressed now, so DD says "whats wrong mummy" she must think i am a complete fruit loop Grin

Wasting - DD loves preschool, she comes out so full of bounce, but by bedtime can't keep her eyes open, and is so tired at the weekends after 2 afternoons there. Thinking of putting her in for a 3rd afternoon about the end of feb, but only if she stops getting quite so tired.

Anon - 18m ago i was doing really well with housework and the kitchen floor got mopped every monday morning and i used white vinegar/bicarb for lots of cleaning, hoovered a couple of times a week Shock it has gone steadily downhill since, and i last mopped the kitchen floor nearly 2wks ago, but before that would have been before our holiday in november christmas Blush Today i bit the bullet and got some flash wipes so i can at least have a quick swipe round before anyone comes here and not risk them catching anything!

OP posts:
Anonymousbird · 21/01/2011 08:10

Part of the reason I haven't mopped the floor is probably because we haven't had anyone here really, we have no space for extra bodies in our temporary living, barely room to even have a cup of tea with another person in the house!!! So it's always the last job when I think, oh, sod it, I've done everything else, the floor can be done next time. And next time has just strrrrrrrrrrrrrrretched rather longer than it should.

Right today's list, and we are outtahere......

Lots of presents, and some from Christmas that PIL brought from a friend of theirs, so chaos everywhere
