Apologies, disappeared again. My DMs dementia is getting worse so am spending more time there. I have the morning off though, as my Dsis has arrived up for a few days. It is my DHs birthday today and for his birthday he is getting a tidy house, because I am sure it is starting to get on his nerves.

Has anyone got any recommendations on good deals with energy suppliers? I think prices have risen sharply recently, but my fix with Eon is about to end so need to shop around - anyone done this recently and anything to report???

So curtains....i'm a bit at the prices quoted, nearly £900 for 3 separate curtains, i know they are made-to-measure & i know the front door one is huge but still. Pretty sure DH will veto that place & i had to give them my name and now i feel bad!

JKS - have you looked at John Lewis for curtains? They have tons of ready made curtains in lots of really nice fabrics. We got a pair of full-height drop, lined curtains for our patio doors for about £150.

Anon - we are with Southern Electric and they have just refunded us loads against our gas bill because we hadn't used as much as they thought we would - even over the cold spell. We are leaving the payments the same though because prices have gone up recently, we pay £110 a month for gas and electric which based on a thread about heating costs a few weeks ago seems to be a good deal for the size of house.

Aw, poor DC!! They went to bed about 20 minutes ago, just as DH went out for a quick run, and I came into to do important work MN so the house is dead quiet. Just a minute ago I heard these little voices from their room... went to investigate. They were really worried because it is so quiet (normally DH and I are chatting, or the TV goes on or whatever) that they thought I had gone somewhere!!! Oh bless, the reassurance of the background noise of us knocking around actually helps them go to sleep!!

AND it made me a bit sad that they thought even for a moment that someone wouldn't be here for them!
