Am back from the battle of Tescos. Have survived unharmed, clutching food and running screaming from the car park after 4 phone calls with waitrose about our order, I have happhazardly grabbed what I remember being on the list. Glad DH does not have to g and get it though, he is Mr.Grump of Grumpington at present. ( fair dos, though, he is trying to fit somebody a working kitchen before christmas)
Of to put shopping away.

Hahahaha, just looked at Martha stewart's website (yes i know, but was trying to procrastinate) and she has 45 gift wrapping ideas!!! WTF? How funny, it truly is a different world isn't it?

Anyway, had a mixed day. DH had his apraisal(sp?) at work which is not good news, some blatant lying and backstabbing going on, made me so stressed as DH is so uncomplicated and honest, but have since had a good chat with my sis and feel quite perky now.

We are going to friends for coffee tomorrow morning and there is going to be a few of us which will be really nice. Going to make some mince pies and fairy cakes this evening i think to take with us.

Please can you all suggest ways to get me in a more Christmassy mood? The house is a mess, there is tons to do before we can go away on Thursday and I just CBA with any of it - I am sooo fed up with feeling unwell.
Tomorrow my friend and her DDs are coming for lunch and a pressie swap, except her present isn't here yet due to the incompetence of Parcelforce so I feel shite about that. Bah humbug. This is most unlike me, I love Christmas normally and I just cannot get excited. :(

Have you got decorations up? Could you make some paper chains or Christmassy biscuits with DS and the girls tomorrow.

Sometimes the hype is too much Ali, if you just think, relaxxxx about it all does that help?

There is a strange obsession with having a tidy house for Christmas, no laundry to do etc, which i find bemusing. If you want a tidy house then have one but don't make it an added stress at Christmas time.
You are going away from the mess so that must be good right?!

Re stockings: once i've got DS1 (as DS2 doesn't get this stuff yet) to choose a big daddy sock, then i put his actual stocking presents in the other one of the pair.

Then he puts out the empty one on his bed when he goes to sleep, i creep in later and swap socks

Am wondering how anyone who has children at home all the time ever keeps on top of stuff. Mine have created so much mess today, despite being out from 11.30 - 3.30. I think its because my living room is so small that as soon as toys migrate in from the family room it looks like a bomb site!!

I know what you mean about the odd obsession with a tidy house, but my grandma is staying here tomorrow night, and then 2 days after we get back from my parents we've got friends coming to stay for NY weekend so things need to be reasonably organised before we go otherwise I will be stressing

Wasting thank you for the hug I will feel better after tomorrow I am sure. I think part of the problem is that we had a lovely Christmassy weekend at the beginning of December, and then have had a rubbish fortnight with us all being poorly etc.

Ali - glad you feel a bit better about things. It WILL be ok, but I know feeling under the weather really makes it all seem worse - but you will be fine. And agree, Banjanxed is a super word - not heard it in years. Love it!

Predicted nighttime snow did not materialise which I am pleased about, so means we can get out and about to do a couple of chores...

And it's village carol singing tonight. It used to take place outside our house, next to the village christmas tree, but last year, there were cars sliding around all over the place (the christmas tree is next to the road) so in the interests of "Helf n Safety" it's been moved to a slightly less risky location! One car crash outside the front door in a week is quite enough.

DH is as excited as a little boy that we might actually get to sledge on Christmas Day.
