OP posts:

Temperature levels on DH's deep fat fryer have melted off.

Also have the fecking stupid bread maker jug, which incidentally if you dishwash, the numbers disappear too. So too small and useless Hmm

But I'm afraid I resort to: if it's half a pint, that's a mug's worth, if it's quarter of a pint it's one of the toddler mugs and anything else is X time tsp/tblsp. Blush

and is this a good time to repeat my top tip that a 2 litre pyrex casserole dish is the perfect size to stick down the loo if you need to collect a child's urine sample easily.

MrsVincentPrice · 10/11/2010 23:13

Ingenious tip, but eurgh.
I know urine is sterile and dishwashers wash very hot, but still....

OP, I feel your pain, because it is also my pain. My large Perspex jug is also sans markings and it is total PITA, I have resorted to using DS's old baby bottle. It's not that old though and I'm too mean environmentally conscious to throw it out and buy a new one. It must be possible to relabel it, do we reckon cheap jewellers who engrave rings will do Pyrex? Failing that, do you reckon Pyrex would cough up for a new one? I'm inclined to write them a stiff note just on general principles - it's a measuring jug FFS, it shouldn't suddenly stop measuring just because you've had the temerity to wash it a few times.

How about nail varnish. I used it to mark up an old jug once and it worked okay.

The numbers wore off mine but then it chipped anyway. I must get another - true its the sort of thing you always forget when in the supermarket.

I've about 6 pyrex casseroles which all used to have lids, but all the lids chipped round the rim - once had a shard of glass in some food, not good.

Fortunately they can go in the microwave with a plate on top but its still annoying.
